    Appreciated y'alls comments on the frustration of this summer heat. I started feeling extremely slow and heavy a few months ago and my paces have improved only a little since then. Was starting to think I am underfueling, have some critical nutrient deficiency, or worse, a strange illness. Hearing Thomas speak of a minute slower pace is validating. Now, I literally think it's just been the heat, and, related to that, dehydration. Through fall and winter I drank water mostly and had unlimited energy. Now I'm adding beet juice and coconut water (pre- and post-run, respectively) and I think it's really helping. Thanks y'all.

    Path projects shorts have a great pocket setup. No belt or vest needed! My favorite running shorts by far!

    The Run Travis Run event sounds similar to the Diplo Run Club 5k - coming soon in SF and Seattle. Diplo isn’t doing meditation and the VIP package doesn’t include meet and greets, but there is a post race music festival with him among the DJs. It is also on RunSignUp.

    Honestly the V5 looks ridiculously big. The V4 was already a VERY big shoe but this one takes the record!

    My family and I will be in Paris to watch the Olympics and we're having dinner on a barge on the Seine during one of the evening. If I see you there, I'll be sure to chat with you guys. As for shoes, I have the NB Fresh Foam More v4, Hoka Bondi 8, two pairs (different colourways) of Altra Via Olympus 2, NB Fresh Foam X 840v1, NB Fresh Foam X 840F, NB Fresh Foam X Trail More v3, and ASICS Gel Kayano 30. I'll bring two pairs to Paris but still undecided which ones. Hope to see you guys there.

    Thomas needs the Camelbak Ultra handheld chill flask. It’s what I’ve used for the last two years. It hold my phone, keys, 4+ gu packets, and of course the emergency toilet paper for the emergency bi-carb toilet run (the wild poop).

    The first running shoe I tried was actually the Bondi 8. I’d been looking for comfy good looking shoes (arthritis) I just wanted to get a pair of all white Lacoste or something. So uncomfortable. I was a baller when I was younger - had never tried running shoes and really had no idea what running shoes had become. I put on the Bondi and was like what the fuck. The weirdest experience ever 😂😂 I was blown away crazy. I’m now on the 1080v13 - my favourite shoe ever. Dying to try the More v5. Looks awesome too I love the design.

    Hey Robbe, does the Specter 2 fit true to size? Yowana thought it runs a bit small. Would recommend half size up, or no? Gonna pick it up in yellow as soon as it drops, for sure.
    Thomas cracked me up fumbling with that impenetrable TYR box. I wanted to see what was in there!
    Royal blue shoes are just awful, I agree. Can't explain why. That Rincon looks like a Walmart special lol.

    I listened to you rambling for 1 hour about general topics and only 15 minutes on the two shoes mentioned in the title. I was hoping for a more in-depth analysis of those shoes since they were highlighted. Otherwise, it feels a bit like clickbait.

    Hi! Love you guys. My favorite running podcast by far, you guys are hilarious!!! And, love your shoe reviews.
    I was part of the clinical trial that used stem cell implants for diabetes, it is different than what you described. We got stem cell implants surgically implanted into our abdomen, and they were supposed to produce insulin after a time period, which in theory, could cure type 1 diabetes. Unfortunately, it didn't work. They are looking at further research into new technologies. It sucked, and it was a horrible two years of my life, but I would have always thought 'what if' if I didn't do it. Just thought I'd add that :)

    • @Believeintherun
      @Believeintherun  Месяц назад

      Whoa, that's super wild. What were the side effects of the trial?

    • @topicdel
      @topicdel Месяц назад +2

      @@Believeintherun The anti-rejection drugs were the worst. They made me feel crappy all the time, and actually made me resistant to the insulin that I take (so it actually made my diabetes worse...irony at its best?). The whole experience was regrettable. But I understand that not all clinical trials work, and this is how we make advances in medical knowledge. It just sucks when it doesn't benefit you. I gave up a lot to do this (time off work, running, races...sanity? lol), and still trying to work through it all. Anyhow, love your podcast, keep doing what you do! :)

    The Topo specs on the Spector 2 has the weight as 7.6 oz. in a men's size 9. Your men's 7 weighed in at 7.8 oz. That's a huge difference. Are preproduction weights usually that far off? And why is Topo still allowing retail websites for pre order of the Spector 2 to list the weight way under the weight that it actuall is. It will be interesting to see what weight Topo will list the shoe at when they put it on sale on their website.

    • @Believeintherun
      @Believeintherun  Месяц назад

      Tbh a lot of manufacturer's weights are way off, there's no standard for what size is weighed, but the Topo listed weight does seem further off than usual

      @@Believeintherun
      Yowana whose also at the Running Warehouse event with you guys likes to weigh the right and left shoe separately. You wouldn't believe how many times the weights are different. But give Topo credit for this much, when he weighed the left and right of the Spector 2 they weighed pretty much the same.

    • @Believeintherun
      @Believeintherun  Месяц назад +2

      @@jefreywith1f924 yeah weights of two shoes can differ wildly, sometimes a half ounce. FWIW Topo just sent over an updated spec sheet this morning, and it's 8.1 oz. for a US M9

      I really appreciate the follow-up.👍 8.1 oz. in a size 9 is still good and makes it a tad lighter than the Hoka Mach 6 that also shares the same stack height.
