    This is tremendously helpful Brandon! Thank you. My wife's GV70 just hit 6000 and the dealer is backed up for 2 months here in Georgia. Going to grab a filter today and do it myself. Thank you!

      @@arenteria1100 16,000 miles?!?!? NO! Modern day synthetic oils should be changed every 5000 to 6000 miles. I changed ours at 6k and thent he dealer just did another change at 10k. They aren't backed up anymore, at least here in GA and now offer loaners too.

      @@arenteria1100 No, first oil change should be at like 500 miles due to engine break in. Then maybe at 2000-3000 miles, then maybe 5000

    How were you able to so easily remove the cover where you can fill up the oil?

  • @WikiDoh
    @WikiDoh 2 года назад +1

    That's exactly how I do it too. I also put some paper towels around the filter housing because when I pull the filter out it tends to drip oil. Like you, I also plan on keeping this vehicle for a long time. Did you use a torque wrench on the oil plug? I'm afraid to do it by hand because of the aluminum threads.

    Brandon: Thanks for the video. It looks like the front tires are on the ground. Are you able to access the drain plug with the tires on the ground. It looks extremely tight. Thanks for any insights. Bill

    I noticed that when you put the bottom tube back on, it still wiggled. It seems like that connection should be airtight. Or am I being paranoid?

    Good video, Brandon. I see it calls for 0W-30. Did you use Synthetic? What is the change cycle for normal driving? I’ve read where the dlr may or may not use the exact prescribed weight so I think I might buy Mob-1 Syn and give it to them to change it for the first 3 yrs then I may just do it myself. We just ordered our 2023 GV70 3.5T and can’t wait to get it.

    • @brandonlarson5275
      @brandonlarson5275  2 года назад +2

      Yeah we only use synthetic in turbo gas cars. We used 5w30 the first time because the 0w30 was not available at the time. Also the 2nd oil change was only like 15 minutes.

    • @gL0be1000
      @gL0be1000 2 года назад +1

      Yes, Unfortunately the dealer uses 5w-30 and really, anywhere you go you will get 5w-30. I started changing my own oil, using 0w-30 and on the first oil change I used STP oil cleaner additive and let the car run for 15 min before I drained. This will remove most of the build up on the pistons and clean it good. Yes the car is new, but I do it anyways, keep it for long and whatnot. Since the car is twin turbo it will have gunk build up because "notoriety" of turbos. If you have the same problem like I had, where the car vibrates a little on cold starts, clean the oil before the change. And PLEASE, do not drive the car when the cleaner is working.. it will fuck everything up inside the engine.

      @@gL0be1000 Thanks IIia. I’ve heard the manual says to use a fuel additive, like Techron, every 8k miles or so. Would that have same effect as STP? Also, I plan on bringing dealer Mob-1 0W-30 for all my changes. I don’t mind overpaying for the 3 complimentary oil changes to ensure the right oil is being used.

    • @gL0be1000
      @gL0be1000 2 года назад

      @@jaybd9329 No, Techron is a fuel system cleaner. This will clean to heads of your pistons and your fuel system. I was planning on using that too, but I will do it on my next oil change because I fuel with 93 Octane and I think it's not time for that just yet, but soon lol 😅 I do drive my car a lot soo yeah, the little things.

    What kind of oil are you using?

    • @brandonlarson5275
      @brandonlarson5275  2 года назад

      Whatever is available and on sale in 5-30 or 0-30 synthetic. We also do oil changes every 5k because we spend a lot of time in the boost cruising 90-100 for hours on the way to and from Vegas or LA. From all my turbo experience, the turbo cars breaks down the oil more rapidly. We usually own our cars to about 180k miles so its just cheap insurance. Especially since Hyundai motors are notorious for burning oil as the age.
