It's been a few months since I've had tears well up thinking about my friend Shauna Waite who you dedicated this video to. Totally caught me off guard and was not expecting to see this as I was excited to start binge watching this new series. But as soon as I hit play I had a lump in my throat and watery eyes. Shauna and I became friends while I was in medical school and spent a lot of time surfing together while she was in Vet school. She even bought my car after her first semester. She loved flying and she looked so happy flying with her family the day before the accident on her instagram stories. The death of the three of them has left a hole in the lives of more people than they will ever know. I only hope that their son Kieren one day learns how special his mom and dad James Waite were to so many people. Thank you for dedicating this to them and I'm looking forward to the rest of this series!

What a great start. I love that you started out with the planning, prep, and packing. That's part of the adventure. And I really got a laugh out of "there is no plan... well there's a little plan but there is no timeline... well there's a little timeline". VERY relatable. I know you’re just getting started but this is already so cool and close to home for me. I grew up in the southern Adirondacks and did my first flying there in Civil Air Patrol as a teen (at KGFL). Fort Ticonderoga was a favorite family field trip. Took my first glider flight in Franconia Notch, NH. Many vacations in coastal Maine. Really looking forward to the series!

Our gliders have a 2Kg space for luggage. Unfortunately I've got a fuel tank in my storage space, leaving just enough room for a camel pak. Let's just say I try and get back home, cos there ain't no tent on board... Can't wait for the next episode, this one was so good!

Great start! I love the technical tidbits you give throughout your series, going through the motions of calculating weight and how important it is. We take it for granted as flyers even on an airplane weight is always a factor. Funny thing...the other day I remembered that you had bragged about your slippers, but I couldn't for the life of me remember what they were and I searched a bunch of your videos but didn't try "slippers" and then you talked about it in this video...thank you, you saved me the frustration! :)
