And now, from Watertown (and much of Waltham) there is NO direct ride to downtown Boston. The 57 gets stuck in traffic and it's a long ride. The 70 gets stuck in traffic and it's a long ride. The 71 gets stuck in traffic and...well, you get the point. This situation is repeated in Everett (which lost the northern terminus of the Orange Line), Chelsea, Roslindale, the area of Roxbury and Dorchester between the Red and Orange Lines. Rapid transit should have been extended all over greater Boston long ago to fill in all these gaps, but there's never any money or political will to build a good system and, in any case the current infrastructure wasn't well kept up over the years. Oh, and commuter rail? Not horrible, but there's no stop in Watertown or Everett and the frequency is horrible.
You mean the 71 electric bus🚎 route. For the 71 electric bus route what it needs is a dedicated row along the current route then have it's wires go east towards Lechmere from Harvard University Tunnel by having the 69 as it's eastern extension
You could use the same logic to eliminate the B, C, and E branches, so there's clearly some extra reason that A was removed. Traffic is terrible for busses in Watertown now. Some sort of rapid transit is needed, especially near arsenal.
Do that the Northern Section of E branch Lechmere to Northeastern University will lose their 25 minute Tram ride. How would you solve the E branch issue since it's scheduled to end at Tufts University if the station there opens then close the Street Running section. If you did that where will the E Branch trains turn to head back to Lechmere Union Square GLX Phase 2 Tufts University?
From what I’ve read over the years, the loss of the A line is directly tied to the creation of the D branch and it’s heavy need for trolley cars that Boston couldn’t afford to purchase so the A got put on the chopping block
boston has a history of replacing train lines with busues. Same thing happened with the orange line and the silver line. Orange overhead line was removed and replaced with the silver line that ends at nubian station
back in the 60’s they did this although Rhode Island declined funding for it so it stopped, and plus yo cyan just take the northeast corridor from westerly to Boston
But if there is only B(boston college) C(cleveland circle) D(riverside) and E(heath st medical ctr) i know they stop at medford and union but why do they take the trains out of service on Gov ctr Park st Copley and science park west
They did indeed use horses. Unfortunately, horses tended to leave ...er, _stuff_ on the road which had to be regularly cleared away. And even then the smell tended to linger. Naturally, the moment electricity became available, horses were quickly replaced by overhead catenaries.
"Regardless of your age, you cannot consume mari.juana in any form in public or on federal land. Those who violate the law can face a fine. The law also disallows smoking mari.juana where smoking tobacco is prohibited. Municipalities may pass bylaws or ordinances authorizing exceptions in certain areas for social consumption." I take the train every morning at 9:34 am. About three months ago a person started smoking marijuana every day at this station before getting on the train. About a month ago another person joined him smoking marijuana before getting on the train and today I realized that there are already three. What is the mbta waiting for to take action? what is the goal? Be like new york city? Increase annual cologne sales in MA to avoid coming to work smelling of marij-uana? reach a point of no return?

A branch is ashmont
The 505 is one direct ride from Waltham to downtown
You could use the same logic to eliminate the B, C, and E branches, so there's clearly some extra reason that A was removed.

At the very least give them signal priority on Arsenal. The traffic lights there are brutal and the cycles make no sense.

Watertown really needs better service and connection to other lines and routes. Or literally anywhere that rapid transit does not exist.

The Entire Greenline should just be rebuilt into Rapid Transit.
We REALLY NEED IT. Put it back, guys!

FYI, I rode the A branch trolley in the early 1980's.
suggestion for the commuter rail, extend providence/Stoughton line to westerly ri and bring back Kenyons and shannock station.

@@foreverbrod It would be super expensive to ride the regional
This is MBTA, Not RLBTA
They should restore the A-line I mean it's kind of useless to replace with a bus
Guys, I feel so sad for the MBTA to get hated but please if you would not hate on MBTA.
🙏🙏🙏
Reopen it!
"Temporarily closed"
Arborway moment
How do the MBTA work with CSX on Middleboro Lakeville shared track
That would take more than 60 seconds to explain

Did the horsecar lines use real horses to move the street cars? Why aren't horses used today?

Goes through Oak Sq.
