When I was younger and began listening to The Cure around the age of 11, I actually believed Robert Smith and Edward Scissorhands were the same person 😂😳
Ann Marwick me and my hubby too and were 64..our son age 36 is a massive fan too we introduced him to the Cure when he was 9 he has loved them ever since...
Damn! 😳 You're AMAZING! I played in a CURE TRIBUTE BAND for 7 years and went through many band members from 18-50 something, but 71? You're 1 cool dude! 😅
The voice that only gets better with time. Robert’s the best there is, & I’m so glad The Cure finally got into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!!! Long live Robert Smith & The Cure!☮️💟

I was 7 years old when my sister introduced The Cure to me. 35 years later and they still are easily on my top ten list. I'm 42 yrs old and I will see them live one day. They take a line on my Bucket list. Thank you for the video.
Was "introduced " in the 80's then tried to "introduce " my older brother, who was a "heavy metal head" at the time..he said,"this sucks!"...now, years later, he's all,"man, The Cure has great music! Wish I heard them back when!"...kidding me, right? 🤣🤣🤣
There's no evolution... Robert Smith is always at the top ! Songwriting, guitar playing, voice... All is top notch ! Long live the Cure ! Thanks Mr Smith...
I know what you mean. But seriously the evolution of Robert is what makes The Cure such an amazing band that has been able to stay relevant for 40 years. There isn't a lot of bands that can say that. Sure there are some bands that have been inactive for 30 years then drag their old asses out (cough*morrissey*Cough) for some reunion show or throwback show. The Cure have been pretty much active this whole time, even if Robert hasn't released an album in 10 years. They have headlined festivals, they have done TV shows, lots and lots of concerts and even did a world tour in 2016 WITHOUT releasing new material. One of the things I love about The Cure is that there are so many different era's of this band. There are so many different moods of the Cure that you can find any type of music to fit your mood. If you want to get up and dance the night away they have that. If you want to sit back and go on epic guitar driven songs you can do that. If you want to turn out the light and crawl into bed and wallow in the misery that once was your love life....you definitely have that. My point is that Cure have released so many albums that vary greatly. There is something there for everyone.

I saw them in '85 or '86 at the Berkeley Greek Theater. They made us wait almost 2 hours maybe more. But it was AWESOME. He was beautiful. We all were young. Now I am an aging woman. Not fair.
Robert changed but his eyes remain the same, he still has sensitive and punchy lyrics and his voice sounds like at the beginning of his career, 40 years earlier. Who else could take up this challenge?
@@williewilliams8707 And which academy would that be Willie? British musicians come from all classes and walks of life. The Stones, middle class grammar school kids, The Cure suburban comprehensive school kids, The Sex Pistols working class council estate kids, Genesis public school kids, The Beatles all working class and a mixture of comprehensive and grammar school kids, Pink Floyd middle class grammar school and university kids, Black Sabbath working class council house kids, The Manic Street Preachers grammar and comprehensive schools solid mining village working class, Depeche Mode working class council estate kids, The Kinks working class ect I could go on for hours . Indeed Tim Burton asked Robert Smith to play as Edward scissorhands, but he rejected the offer because he's not s fan of Hollywood style movies
