I quite like the cars, especially the bubble car going past Derry Downs.
5:28 The pale blue Transit van carries the words 'Sandy Jones & the Honeys', advertising the girls' band that she ran a little before this time. This year - 1984 - I joined her trio as keyboard player, and we gigged for years all over London and the south east. We got together and married, settling in Strood, though often visiting her parents' house here. She passed in 2010, and is much missed by me and our two lovely children. Thank you for this video.
Fascinating video as I've known the area for years. I always found the city-countryside border at 6.30 to be one of the most sudden changes in landscape - from open fields on one side of the road to tower blocks on the other.
Yes, the "Green Belt" of London. Hopefully the fields on these fringes with remain as fields despite being owned by property companies. Thanks for your comments.
Thanks for this, saw a more recent one on YT and cannot believe the changes especially Cray Avenue areas, certainly some classic cars here. Well done on this.
Great video, growing loup on the Cray estate and Orpington in the 80s and 90s, I can remember all these old buildings and factory's.

Glad you like it. We borrowed a video camera, it was huge, and I thought it would be a good idea to just drive around and video the local area as it would be interesting in years to come. I put the tape away and didn't really look at it. We were mainly filming the workings of the M25 junction at Pole Hill. I've still got more but it's mainly just driving around lanes and Orpington.

My ex husband now passed away worked at Tip Top Bakeries when we first met in the early 1970's happy and nostalgic memories,also I lived in Station Road at two seperate places in the same road,your film took me back thank you
I remember visiting Tip Top bakeries in the 70s when I worked in the Job Centre. I loved the smell of the bread. We got some free samples, probably very frounded upon these days but hey that was the 70's very different from today.
Yes, I noticed in the video the Tip Top still has the loaf on the top of the tower, gone now I understand.

Anyone know when the tower blocks in Cray were painted cream, they were grey until then ? Both demolished in 2012
