  • In this video, I replaced the Airconditioning Blend Door on my 2013 Chrysler Town and Country. I was having an issue where whenever I turned on the vehicle, the front blower motor would not engage until about 5 minutes after driving. I found information on a Town and Country forum (www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discuss...) that indicated the blend door may be the culprit. So I went to the local automotive salvage yard and removed a good blend door from a 2012 Town and Country and then installed. To install, I removed the fabric cover below the glove compartment which was held in by 2 plastic clips, the blower motor (held in place by three T-20 Torx screws) and I also removed the glove compartment. I also referred to Royalty Auto Service's video ( • Intermittent Blower Mo... . I ended up putting the right side of the door in the slot first and then flexed it a little to put the left side into the slot where the actuator is located. Ultimately this solution repaired my Town and Country issue even though I went to an A/C shop and to a mechanic's shop, they did not figure out the issue but this solution took me about 30 minutes so it was fairly easy. I was concerned that I might break the tab off the new door when flexing it into place and I had to reposition it a few times to avoid over flexing it (I would say be careful when installing the new door if you try this to avoid breaking the tab off the new door).

Everything on these vans is made out of cheap plastic. My favorite is the oil filter housing. On another video, commenters discussed just disconnecting blend door actuator electrical connector, which causes the a/c to come on after about a 15 second delay.

You’re welcome. Glad it helped. I had taken mine to a couple of shops and they couldn’t figure it out but after a quick google search I found a forum talking about the problem and it was a fairly easy fix.

I don’t understand how the fault flap caused the delay

The blend door has tabs on both sides and the tab that goes into the actuator (which opens the blend door) was broken so when I tried turning on the airconditioner, the actuator would not open the door to allow air flow because the tab that it turns was broken off the door. The rear air conditioner always immediately turned on. I'm guessing that after the air was on for a few minutes that the pressure of the air just caused the door open since the door was loosely in place. It's fairly easy to check. You could have a shop check it for you also if you don't feel comfortable with checking it yourself.
