David Gilmour transcribed the poem at the end of “No Man’s Land” from the multitrack tape. It was published in Rob Chapman’s book, _The Lyrics of Syd Barrett_.
Apparently Syd says "tell me, tell me Stop that, that just upset yourself Listen, listen, if you ask in person I'll stick to the joke, you know yelling and screaming, help me! All that in the afternoon, for that matter So she'd asked if we could stay with Grace Maybe a day or a couple of weeks You know, until Tuesday Pick up my mushrooms Clean my skin up Pick up some tissue Pick up the production It's all fine you know And she served the wine and cups for 3 or 4 people And that nonsense Gracie do her song, heavily spaced All the pink shine on war Explores from beneath Don't you would rather Be out the front door sometime Long ago instead of being Cooped up like a catched rat?" According to the website All the lyrics.
I'm not sure it's intense but I know what you're saying. Reminds me of how I once described Alex Chilton's "Like Flies on Sherbert." It seems to be the opposite....raw, impotent, flailing, but very self aware at the same time.

What are the lyrics?
Apparently Syd says
"tell me, tell me
Stop that, that just upset yourself
Listen, listen, if you ask in person
I'll stick to the joke, you know
yelling and screaming, help me!
All that in the afternoon, for that matter
So she'd asked if we could stay with Grace
Maybe a day or a couple of weeks
You know, until Tuesday
Pick up my mushrooms
Clean my skin up
Pick up some tissue
Pick up the production
It's all fine you know
And she served the wine
and cups for 3 or 4 people
And that nonsense
Gracie do her song, heavily spaced
All the pink shine on war
Explores from beneath
Don't you would rather
Be out the front door sometime
Long ago instead of being
Cooped up like a catched rat?"

we under all we awful awful crawl !
"To Herr Mayer, don't see me cry." I always had this idea it was about war and Nazi concentration camps....
Never get tired on this one…. To see me be
I always heard "they even see me under coal".
For years I've tried to decipher the mumbled vocals, but only snippets are clear. Has anyone managed to do so?
I hear "we all follow fool frog"
Why not ..!!
The doors of Perception give sometimes strange answers …!

"Don't" see me cry?
Soooooo intense!!!!
I'm not sure it's intense but I know what you're saying. Reminds me of how I once described Alex Chilton's "Like Flies on Sherbert." It seems to be the opposite....raw, impotent, flailing, but very self aware at the same time.
