Tommy Cooper was born just down the road from me . Near Caerphilly South Wales. Yet I had the misfortune to see the great man die on television R.I.P Mr Cooper.
My grandfather was in his unit in the Desert Rats. He said a day without a laugh never happened no matter what. After the shit hit the fan and it died down, he'd always say something that brought on roars of laughter.
They cut this short. I remember watching this, as if I could not stop laughing. A bit later he got the two mixed up, and the commandant said, 'Why are you impersonating me?'
I just like the low budget props/ cavalier attitude towards timing/ randomness/ perhaps, partly ad-libbed comedy sketch. It all adds to the carefully constructed chaos of the whole affair. The man was a genius, looking back on it.
None of these modern day comedians are in Tommy Cooper's Class...
Only Tommy Cooper could pull this off 🤣😅 genius 👍

Never trust someone who says he's not funny. Genius 😎

I think this was the inspiration for the 1985 war thriller "Codename Emerald" poster. Half an American German officer is on the poster.

I saw Tommy at Blackpool in 1969 just before coming back to5thenstates. It cost 10 bob a great show..
