    The free exchange of knowledge is a beautiful thing Peter, many of us are into car just as much as you are but have not pursured it as a career. Many of us have trades which make us uniquely skilled in certain parts of the fab job and we can all learn from each other in some way. For instance i would consider the piece you removed from rear cabin of the amarok to act structurally in a similar way to what a builder uses "brace Ply" to achieve, although i would still agree this is best place to cut out the frame of the car. Very Very Nice work as usual Peter well done.

    back in the mini truck days you could get what was essentially a rectangular inner tube to go between the bed and the cab to seal it off. Not sure if they are still available/made.

    I did this back in the 90’s. I had a Nissan truck and put 4 15’s in the bed. Old school Orion xtr’s. I was just wondering if y’all used a bed cut “boot” or seal to keep water off the top of the box between bed and cab and inside of the cab?

    • @RYTHMICRIOT
      @RYTHMICRIOT 2 года назад +1

      I graduated high school in 1994. A friend had a Nissan Hardbody pickup when he started driving in 92'. He had a windowless "shell" canopy and he had 2 12" Cerwin Vega subs in a box mounted below the cab window. The windows on the truck and canopy were removed and there was a rubber boot connecting the two and sealing everything off from the outside elements. It was a regular cab truck so there was always 2-4 of us riding in the back with the subwoofers slamming. It was great.

    • @joeymerrell8585

      @@RYTHMICRIOT good ol days for sure bro. I graduated in 95. I just had a bed cover over my box and cab cut out. Sitting wide on 15x10 reverse hammers.

  • @jayinmi3706

    In the US, this is what we call a "blow-through" and many people use a flexible accordian boot between the cab and the box. I don't know how the roads are in the UK, but ours are sh*t, and if you watch pickups on most roads, you can see the bed flex side to side even on paved roads, pretty significantly. Nice work, as usual. You try out an of Nick's Resonix deadening products?

    • @pssound9749
      @pssound9749  2 года назад +2

      And that is the reason why we didn’t attach to the back box at all and left room for movement…hopefully you watched the video and not just skipped through!? 😃
      This pick up is not used on off-road and since this footage has been completely transformed into more like a city driver.
      Using anything from US is tricky due to weight and shipment cost. I know Resonix stuff is great, but not viable over here financially and we can still get great results with other products that are available here.

      @@pssound9749 I watched the whole thing, and waited to comment until after. I know you said he doesn't off road it, but I was just pointing out that it can flex a lot on paved roads, too. That's all.

    yea not much leg room in that truck,i was really curious about the bed flexing,most people use the rubber seal or gasket and thats it,for a blow threw design,very interesting pete,moves some air huh ? haha you know one of these days im going to ask you to do a video in your honda playing bass i love you haha,later

    How does the ae18 compare to the fi 18 in this application? I have a single fi 18 in true IB similar to this install. It's needs the window down. Starts to cavitate a bit sealed. Can't imagine two of them. Maybe the lower excursion of the AE helps mitigate that?

    • @pssound9749
      @pssound9749  2 года назад

      These 2x18” work great with windows up too. We’ll share measurements of this setup soon. 🔊🔊
      Fi is great for daily pounding and crazy lows below 25Hz, but for accuracy and musical upper bass, AE is very difficult to beat.

    • @mikeblocker5720
      @mikeblocker5720 2 года назад

      @@pssound9749 seems as though fi has discontinued the IB3. Which is disappointing. The ib318 in my single cab truck is probably the most violent 500w I've heard under 30hz. May have to look into AE when going to twins. Replace some of that excursion with loads more sq/in. Looking forward to the results! Clean work as always. 👍

    • @zacjones89

      For another really good 18 IB option in the US check out the SI HT-18 v3... Great driver for IB and great pricing to boot!
      Peter the IB18AU has an fs of nearly 30hz and a W surround. I'm curious as to how the response between the 15 and 18 might differ. I'm sure it's fine with the higher fs, just kinda jumped out at me when I saw it.

    • @mikeblocker5720
      @mikeblocker5720 2 года назад

      @@zacjones89 the ht 18 is surely attractive. I wish they had a VC option to keep me at 1ohm for twins.
