Can we all agree that Guy Pratt deserves mad props for his work on this tour and the Pulse tour? Big shoes to fill, and the man came in and played to win!
@@YxalitisI know you were tongue in cheek 🙂 That was funny. In all honesty, when I started in music way back in the late 60s I played guitar. I was shown the bass and said I wanted more strings…how can I make MUSIC with only 4?? Know what? That’s where the artistry comes in. A bass CAN sing. Bass actually is more essential to a band than most will realize. Just ask Gene Simmons. His tongue is not all he has. Guy is amazing. And he brings his own creativeness and commitment to the instrument and the band. 🙂
In the Sacramento 1988 show when the bass started there was a single can light on the bass player that magicly turned into one of the pigs eyes as it instantly appeared on stage and then flew up and over the crowd. Too cool I'll never forget that.
The best trancer's ever put on this planet to perform for humanity...now we are older and still can't get enough...if only they were not meer mortals...there songs, lyrics, instrumental prowess and consument talent shall live on in perpetuity...if you where lucky enough to see them live,it was truly an inspiration of what is capable of the human condition.Salute to Pink Floyd, thanks 👍 for the memories, truly amazing!!!
Many prefer the Pulse. But the Delicate Sound of Thunder is more representative for recording shows the return of Pink Floyd in the late 80. The musicians who accompanied him, as well as female vocalists were younger. They gave the band a more energetic sound. More rock!
Is 2021 and Pink Floyd music is still on another level . Is hard to believe this greatness was created so long ago and is still the best. A real trip. Best band of all times
One of These Days" is the opening track from Pink Floyd's 1971 album Meddle. The composition is instrumental except for the only spoken (or sung) line from drummer Nick Mason, "One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces." It features double-tracked bass guitars played by David Gilmour and Roger Waters, with each bass hard panned into one channel of stereo, but one bass sound is quite muted and dull. According to Gilmour, this is because that particular instrument had old strings on it, and the roadie they had sent to get new strings for it wandered off to see his girlfriend instead.
They made this version so heavy metal and I love it so mich, that first note from the lap guitar was rude, crude with such a beautiful beast rawring his voice for all to fear
The light show of the circular projection screen and the lights around the perimeter is one of the best I've ever seen. An incredible idea. It's stunningly beautiful and exciting. These designers are as good at their own game as the musicians are at theirs.
We saw them ALL !!! The Floyd show is over and above ANYTHING we ever witnessed !!!! The Stones, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Black Sabbath, J.Geils, The Who, even, The Grateful dead....just to name a few... The Floyd is a magical experience. Tony from Detroit..the Rock and Roll capital of the world.
I saw this in Atlanta in 1987. Best concert ever, and I've been to many. Also the bed on a wire during Learning to Fly. These guys were so over the top.
May 1988, Pink Floyd sold out 2 shows in Veterans Stadium with the best lineup. Scott Page, Rachel Fury, Durga McBroom and Margaret Taylor. D.S.O.T. what an honor it was to see them.
Guy Pratt never gets the credit he really deserves for being that good on bass guitar. He should be more well known than he is, the guy is outstanding.
Seeing DG at the Royal Albert Hall was one of the highlights of my life. My dad saw Floyd a few times. I missed out. Tell ya though, Brit Floyd & Australian Pink Floyd & Think Floyd all put on a bloody good show if you can get to see them. Enjoy ❤
Uh...no. Good, yes, hypnotic, yes. Insane? Try listening to ANY of these bass players: Chris Squire, Geddy Lee, Geezer Butler, John Paul Jones, Les Claypool, Jaco Pastorius, etc, etc, etc
@@magicbrownie1357 insane not in a technical sense, insane as in it creates a special kind of atmosphere, the whole song does in fact. Some sort of psychodelic dread. That's how I view it.
This truly is Pink Floyds Goodbye and "Wake" song to Syds mental and emotional departure from reality. You can feel the genuine sorrow of this song shortly after Syds break from reality. Unreal composition precursor to the Great Gig in the Sky.
I thought Pulse was the best, as it had more effects and pyrotechnics. The flying pig was cool, but the ones coming out of the wall in Pulse really took the cake. And I'd say the video quality on Pulse was as good, or better.
I'd say this one is certainly shot better, the angles are incredibly one-of-a-kind for a concert film, especially of this age. But sound-wise? Personally, I prefer PULSE's rendition.
My favorite version, also....but, I have the original VCR, videotape and on this song, prior to vocals and soon after the pigs were released and noticed by the crowd, there was a kid, whose lips you could read and he was saying, "Oh my God, it's a fuk'n pig...!!!", as he was raising hands to the sides of his head, and looking to be in awe, disbelief or probably both...and with a grin from ear to ear!!... All of the versions, including this one, have edited out that part...😕👎....I wished they would've left that part in!
To me, this is the best, rawest recording of "one if these days" there is. And I'm a fan of everything Pulse. Why? Because I was lucky enough to see them in 94. Winnipeg Mb.
This song is probably the best of them. When I listen to it I remember the live in Venice in July 1989. If people looks for a beer can drunked during the concert in St. Mark Square you can find it.
As a little kid, I always thought the lap steel was used in traditional bluegrass/country/blues music. David Gilmour changed that whole perception for me.
I think this is my favorite ever concert video. Of course the music and light effects are great, but I think the great camerawork and editing deserve a shout out too.

He has played on all Gilmour's albums and tours since. As best I understand.
If you haven't read the story on how Guy got the gig, it's in Nick's biography of the band. It's hilarious. Long story short, the guy is GOOD.
I mean...he's only playing Bass...
Kidding, Pratt is awesome!
Guy BELONGS with this crew!!!! Always will.

When I saw Floyd live, this song absolutely put the entire crowd in a trance.

David Gilmour simply nailed It. Awesome performance from the whole band. One of the best versions of this song, for sure. Pink Floyd rules.
David Gilmoure is the best guitar player of all times... !!!
Brian MAY.....✔️
Certainly one of them for sure

I think the new restored Delicate sound of thunder concert is the best film document that you can buy of Pink Floyd.
No mate. It will always be live in pompeii

The guitar is so heavy. I remember when I first heard it as a teen I couldn't believe it. Sheer awe... Still grabs me.
One of the best solos ever
David Gilmour , a living legend !

Sei molto bravo!
I Love Meddle, has a very diversified range of compositions. Absolutely great Pink Floyd 💖💖💖
They told Nick to say the line as fast as he could, and then they slowed it down.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!😎😎😎😁😁
@HDPinkFloyd I always wondered who says the one line, thanks for the trivia! Love your channel 💖
"Delicate Sound of Thunder" "Masterpiece".

The Floyd"s music Will last forever 😃
I liked this version better than the Pulse version.
DSOT is my favorite live album from them. Pulse is good but the video quality is subpar. Wished they shot it on film
