Just installed vm22 to my d14 and it started straight away. I only bought it to find out if my amal is cousing troubles. For the first time bike sounds healthy and it rides ok up and down the street. Not tested it on longer runs. Also it only works with choke on (valve up). All this for 17quid incl air filter and other bits!
No changes to flange in cylinder. Instead made the holes on the carb body into slots so that it could align with bolt holes on cylinder. Think this is the standard fix by others fitting Mikunis to the D7.
Yes Electrex do a stator kit with a lighting coil as well. It's STK-125L for D1 and STK-127L for the D7. I went for 12V option. Much easier to get bulbs and much brighter too.
@@thestrictlynoparking this one would be suitable as it doesn’t include the lighting coil: www.electrexworld.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?WD=d7%20bsa&PN=STK%2D1257%2Ehtml#SID=826
@@jagsnyorks hi, I am using the iridium plug. I need to check the timing. Also, one bit of advise was to increase the oil ratio up to that in the manual! Still to test this out. What ratio are you using? I had been using 33:1
@@thestrictlynoparking I no longer have my D7 but pretty sure I was running it at the original oil ratio. I’d check the timing on your bike, though to be honest I remember the electrex kit produced such a decent spark the bike started even with the timing way out.
Wow its a beauty the Mikuni a really good swap start so easily keep her forever a real fun bike love them.
A beautiful Bantam

Jules, I have my Bantam set up as a trials bike so no lights or battery. Do you have a specific reference to what I may need?

@@jagsnyorks many thanks
did you drill the holes on the carb flange wider and lower?
Increased main jet to 117.5, think it came with 105.
is the vm22 stock? just got one for my d7
Had one when I was 14. Ex GPO bike
Just ordered one for my D7, any advice welcome
Hi, did this help with hot starting - the main issue I have on my D7?
Electronic ignition from Electrexworld solved all starting issues. Fitted it on both my bantams and they always started first kick hot or cold.
@@jagsnyorks hi, the system that my bike came fitted with is Italian, ‘idm’ is written on the coil. Does that sound like a lesser product?
@@thestrictlynoparking No experience of that make of ignition sorry. You could try replacing the sparkplug with iridium type for better starting.

Stick to concentric looks much better.
