  • Lemon or Nurse Shark? Warm water gets the food chain going from plankton to pilchards and all the predators that like to eat them. You'll always see something on the bay this time of year as the large sharks and southern sting rays come in from the gulf. Glad I wasn't wade fishing today!

What type of shark do you think this was? I thought nurse but they are few and far between in the harbor I hear so must be a Lemon?

      Nurse shark

I think it’s a lemon. The Front and Back dorsal fins on a lemon shark are the same size and those looked the same size.

It’s definitely a nurse shark. The back dorsal fin is slightly smaller and it’s closer to the front dorsal. The caudal fin is also a give away. Nurse sharks basically have no lower caudal lobe where lemons do have one. Also Lemon dorsals are almost indistinguishable in size and they are far apart.

See you using that beerrun! That’s one of my favorite colors to throw! I’ve been seeing a lot of bigger sharks around too! Makes wade fishing a little more harder lol

@@CharlotteHarborFisherman 26 1/2 and 26, so two really nice ones. Caught more than a handful of smaller ones and a bunch of fun sized snook. I use the trolling motor on the skiff and skip paddle tails under the mangroves. Both of the bigger ones came from underneath the bushes. All artificial for me

@@mattjohnson3289 nice can’t wait to get out that way. I working inside the cutoff or on the outside of the island?

@@CharlotteHarborFisherman on the outside. Started on the east side of the cutoff and spent the morning working my way to the west side. Caught some decent fish inside but numbers wise always had better luck on the outside.

I haven’t been able to land one yet cause I’m usually using a 2500 reel and a medium light rod but I’ve hooked a couple 40” snook on both the inside and outside. Biggest I landed was 38”, hard to tell when they’re on the water but they definitely looked bigger. The ones that get away always are 😂
