Been using Taylors shaving cream for nearly 10 years now . They never fail. Their recent release tobacco is great as well. A little bit goes a long way.
I've seen the Oud cream and was wondering about the scent. Had zero doubts about the quality, I use Taylor's the majority of the time. Thanks for the review Ash!
I am a big fan of TOBS and whilst my preference leans towards hard soaps I always keep a couple of Taylor’s creams which I also enjoy. Prior to lockdown I had planned to visit Taylor’s and the other shave shops in the area but unfortunately that didn’t happen. Hopefully I plan to visit next month and I am really looking forward to ending my long wait. Keep well and keep safe.
I am a big fan of the grapefruit, peppermint and Royal forest. I have the cedarwood on order on this gentleman's recommendation. As an aside, I use Trumpers coral skin food as both pre and post shave and use Feather blades in a Merkur 39C Barber's pole. I look forward to trying this. I advise also to build a rotation of shave creams. They last a very long time and it is a lovely thing to step out of the shower and think 'I am in a peppermint mood today' Great video as always, Ash.
Ash, I just mentioned to another subscriber I’d recently tried Taylor’s Tobacco followed by their Forest Green, and preferred the latter myself. However, being on the other side of the pond and thanks to you, I’ve only just discovered the majesty of Proraso. I now measure time before and after my first Proraso shave, as I’m just over-the-moon with their menthol-eucalyptus pre-shave product.
I really enjoy the TOBS Royal Forest shave cream as well. However, I tried the Royal Forest moisturizing balm as well as the Royal Forest deodorant and did not like them. They both had a very “chemically” scent that was not pleasing to my nose. The shaving cream itself though, is excellent. I like to use it in the colder months and use something a bit lighter smelling in the warmer season. Thanks for the review, Ash! Excellent content as always.
Shaving with a double edge safety is great. I started 5 years ago and never looked back. Now using a Muhle R41 GS as my to go to razor. Tabac soap (or Prorasso green). And as an aftershave. Tabac or Irisch Moos.
Ash. Every time you do a shaving episode I rethink my beard. I remember how fresh and clean I used to feel after a morning shave 🪒. But alas I am also happy with my beard and how it looks. A conundrum. 😑. 😂 Cheers Ron
I actually purchased that one at the same time as the Oud and used it this morning for the first time. It is quite different in scent. I'm not sure that I am getting 'Shave Shop' from it - but it is pleasant (Oud would be my preference).
On your recomendation I got some St Ives face scrub. I must have needed it because after a good scrub my face felt like I'd shaved my face with an aggressive razor. I splashed some aftershave all over my face and did a Mexican hat dance. Overall a good experience that I will repeat, hopeing my skin will 'toughen' up.
I nerver use Taylor old bond street because I introduce this year in the traditional shave but everybody have good opibions about this company and well the cream looks amazing I think buy two this one OUD and Grapefruit ^^ I'm curious to know what it is like besides with Proraso I am happy
I have used their forest and tobacco leaf shaving creams. I like the forest one but not a fan of the tobacco one. Which one of these do you think is similar to the new Oud shaving cream? If there is any similarity.
I’ve just been through both of Taylor’s Tobacco and Forest Green in that order as well, and I agree, I found the Forest Green to be much more to my liking.
What I do as well ash, without wasting my shave soaps, in a mug, I scoop out every drop in my mug and massage it into my bristle before using my brush and when I do my second and final pass, once I painted the soap onto my face and actually squeeze out all the remaining soap from the brush and massage it into my face, so I'm not wasting lather, at least I'm using it all up this way. I'm a shave soap shaver, I actually stopped using creams because it just goes everywhere in my bathroom and I find a hard soap doesn't
Love Oud. Gives me a kind of Morocco/middle east vibe... ever the romantic. Just finish a bottle of Pecksniff's Oud & Wood.... shame they went bust, smells nice, very cheap at TKMaxx. Thanks for the video.
I can never get my bowl lathers to look like that. Always more foamy than creamy. My face lather is perfection, though. 6S is one of the best. What blade?
I'm not sure you read my last comment here? I recommend you to try Lab Series for Men, Products I have been using lab series since I was a teen because my mum got me into it and it actually cleared up my scabby face (especially around my nose) and they do a shave cream in a Menthol scented type. You won't be disappointed with that product , I guarantee you. I'm a cold water shaver if you like to know, much better and it more enjoyable than shaving in hot water 💦
Ahhh... nothing quite like a good shave with top-quality products. Right now I'm in "inventory reduction" mode. I've got two tubs of shaving soap, and three tubes of Proraso shaving cream, plus another can of Proraso shave foam to use up, before I can even think of acquiring new stuff. (To say nothing of a couple handfuls of aftershaves, pre-shaves, face balms, etc.) I'm probably not the only chap in this sort of situation. All of the products I presently have will, I know, give me very good results. And I'm loathe to just throw away perfectly good stuff. But the reality is I've got at least a couple years worth of shaving "inventory" on hand. On the bright side? All the money I'll be saving can be put towards..........
Taylor's do have a lavender and I have had a pot or two over the years. It is a subtle scent and classic. TOBS and Trumper are of equal quality in my opinion, as are DR Harris as well.
Hi ash. What about maintaining modesty. I found myself looking down on a poor scruffy man the other day and on reflection feel bad. We shouldn’t look down on people because they have less money, a cheaper car and cheaper less maintained clothes
I agree, modesty is part of the overall package - the goal is to be the best version of yourself, regardless of the path that other people chose to take. It is human nature to assess and make a snap judgement when we encounter others initially. It is simply our survival instinct to weigh up other people when we meet. So do not feel bad about it.

Thank you for the review on TOBS Oud, sounds like this is the shaving cream scent I've been waiting for, Oud is by far and away my favourite scent.
I've seen the Oud cream and was wondering about the scent. Had zero doubts about the quality, I use Taylor's the majority of the time. Thanks for the review Ash!

My favourite shaving brand. Great quality products and not overly expensive
Couldn't agree more!
TOBS is pure class, regards dapper shaves

I love the royal forest and the cedarwood is wonderful
@TheChapsGuide Belated update: Cedarwood is fantastic. I also greatly enjoy the oud.
Recently purchased TOBS Eton College with matching aftershave lotion. It is a wonderfully smelling shaving experience!
👋😃👍

It’s amazing stuff
Tried their green aftershave? Excellent!
@@steveboyd3455 I certainly will, thanks!

Picked this up from the store from 74 Jermyn. Subtle scent but excellent scent. Didn't disappoint!

Agreed. Ha! But equally satisfying is combing through the beard and applying beard product
What a chap! Greetings from the former colonies.
This company makes great products.
Helpful video.
What what what!!! Good on you Taylor!!! I wonder if they’ll release a fragrance. I also see a “Shaving Shop” cream. Is that new?
I actually purchased that one at the same time as the Oud and used it this morning for the first time. It is quite different in scent. I'm not sure that I am getting 'Shave Shop' from it - but it is pleasant (Oud would be my preference).
I really like Taylor's cedarwood shaving cream. I'll have to see if I can get oud here in the States.
Amazon has it , my friend and for 16 dollars

Just ordered some TOBS tobacco leaf, my sandlewood is at an end. Taylors is my choice as I've tried many others and never found any that are better.
This is an energetic review. Keep it up.
Great shave Ash.😎😎👍👍
Good as always.

I would say that the Oud has more in common with the Tobacco Leaf, but it is very different to either really.
@@TheChapsGuide Thanks Ash
Had an email by tobs showing the oud cream will definitely be buying some in the near future
Hope you like it!
@@TheChapsGuide thankyou
Just ordered this. I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s for a few years, the avocado was my favourite until they discontinued it.

You should try the nivea after shave balm
Are you still using that Reuzel brushless cream? I just bought it with a king c gillette and proraso pre shave cream.
I use it in regular rotation with my other collection. I still think it’s amazing.
@@TheChapsGuide Thanks for the response, just bought it and will use next week.

Too much white in the bristles!

I wish I only had that much, I have enough for about 5-years of daily shaving!
still can't figure out who does it better.. the britts or the italians
As a military man, one would except you to chose Truefitt & Hill
Nice video Ash, with the all the shaving cream and soap you have been reviewing I bet you got enough to last you years lol.
Yes I have, many years.
Question Ash, are Tailor's and Trumper equal in quality and lather? Secondly do both companies have a lavender tub shaving cream?
Regards,
Starlight
