    This is an amazing profession. Something that is so revolting to most of us you make it compassionate, professional and respectful while enjoying it.
    I never knew about this subject but now you are making it understandable and natural.

    What a fantastic video, and very nicely done! I am in awe. After hundreds of years of embalming, it is always a reward to learn a new technique for body preparation and viewing. Not only from the amazing instructor (Matt), but also learning from others in the classroom, and their experiences. To be honest, I would've had to attend the class to learn the complex task of putting a person back together again from a GSW suicide, car accident, and decomp.
    Oh, and I must compliment you on having a burning candle in your room. Why didn't I think of that, I love candles. Wonderful seeing you again Kari, and keep that lovely smile.

      Kari just to say I think you seen something during the slide presentation that you just couldnt hide on your face. As a EMT I got to see a person who had committed by shotgun to the mouth. But what may it unique was he had a mouth full of water and virtually the shot disintergrated his head at a 45 degree slant nothing. I had that same look you had after seeing that. I you said yourself that there are people who do complete restorative on a situation like that. That is so amazing.

    This was a nice video production. Matt Smith is positive proof that a wide variety of corpses can be embalmed that take more time to accomplish, but positively successful. If I were attending college, I would look forward to attending Professional Embalmer's Institute. Kari, you are the best funeral directress ever.

    How many times or uses does a cadaver have before it cannot be used again?.

    • @hermajessd
      @hermajessd 7 лет назад

      Nova264 in medical school most cadavers are used for 6-12 months. When the body's are "used up" they then are cremated and given back to the donors family for their own specific disposal/ internment.

    I'd like to ask a question hopefully you can see this and respond to me... So when my aunt passed away I feel like she looked deflated.. She was a bigger woman, and being a little bigger myself. I know we got some boobs- even when we lay down. My aunt had NO boobs laying in her casket... Coming from a family of morticians I didn't feel she looked right. She was also extremely pale like all they put on her face was a shit ton of cover up. Her nails were not painted and had a blueish tint. I almost went home and got my huge makeup bag to fix her.. She passed from a heart attack. Not even anything traumatic why did they do such a poor job. Things like that make it twice as hard to be at the funeral.

    • @KaritheMortician
      @KaritheMortician  2 года назад +1

      My big rule is you do not know what they started with. She could have looked way worse before they "made her up"
      With someone who is heavier gravity works towards the head. WIth a death with a heart attack blood often pools in the head created a very dark discoloration in the persons head and especially ears. THis requires a lot of cosmetic but sounds like they didn't add the natural coloring after doing the cover up. The nail beds would be quite dark with that situation as well and they should have at least painted them.
      The breasts fall into the arm pits if they are larger. If they were sewed or taped up into position it would have looked quite odd honestly. They should have reconstructed some type of breast mound to give a better balanced visual though.

    When a person chooses to donate their body as a cadaver, are there still remains that need to be buried? Would those remains be buried in a casket or cremated? I have to mention that you are definitely my teacher and I share your info with a lot of my friends when you said something about the swimmers cap I imagine pulling the skin back on the cranium and that's where the swim cap comes in contact keeps fluids in. As I was watching and studying your videos real closely the theory I thought of is when there's a missing part of the face is skin graph from another part of the body to format the facial look. I love medical Super Glue works wonders. I also do autopsy on chicken and bird cats and dogs. It's amazing how much and how you figure out with all these diseases animals get it's from drinking water and Specialty Foods. I find a lot of liver and kidney failures in animals. Causes fluid of the abdomen where it can be drained but in the long run it's going to show up again. Also seen the worst of cancer in these little critters. I remember one time I did an autopsy on a dog and the abdomen it smell real bad. Checked stomach lining it had a rip in it where this dog had a a pretty decent size Rock embedded in it intestines. This dog in his lifetime had health problems. Veterinarian never could figure out but amazing. I guess when man woman and creature passes away that's where autopsies shows and tell the secrets. I had ask is what do you think about funeral homes for a loyal family pets I see a lot of popping up in Florida. I learnt that dying or into a death situation that is very simple now the year 2000 because now you can be made into a diamond or be cremated into a tree plant urine can have your remains put into fireworks and go with a big bang. As I hear from a lot of people they want to remain scattered at Disney World. I think that's why they check people's baggage before they go inside Disney World theme park. I think the thing of the death is going to be the thing of the past because now you're seeing a lot of partygoers if somebody passes away they celebrate the birthday of that person that died in family members introducing your own band into celebration of life. It's like a few times I brought my chickens to a funeral get together and what a spectacular show that was. I noticed a lot of the organs are being junked in funeral parlors and internet music sounds more better. If i had my chances and wishes I like to make a theme park out of a funeral home because it would be a taste of Interest what the people like to have their loved ones go in style. I remember 1 time at my uncle's place I had these real big fiber optic lamps I still have them and something got mention a person loved the colors of rainbow. I can go on and tell the story of a lifetime but it be too long and have to write a 2 foot by 4 foot book would tell the whole story of how celebration of life would work. And be very entertaining

There is a website to visit for details and services, but we are not associated with any big conglomerates.100% family owned operation. I fly home often, but I farm a nice stretch of land. Soybeans, corn and cotton are the major crops.
      You would have to visit in person if you are in the area. They don't talk much over the phone or discuss the business unless you're in person.

      No death care industry work now. Got away when I finish high school. Majored in agriculture at Louisiana State University aka LSU. Been farming for many years now. Farming is in my blood if you catch my drift... :) I watch the Future's Market and sell when the market is mature.
      I am the odd ball. Just farm a small spread here in Texas and loving it.
      I am about to expand here soon, just scrubbing the numbers. Currently I own and lease in some additional property.

It's like I was going to donate a family members belongings, a house full of items to Goodwill thousands of dollars worth of household goods and also a older car that was in great shape, maybe worth 3500 or so. And they told me they could not take half the stuff. Crazy it's a donation, but they had no problem wanting the car? But yet they don't sell cars? I told them to pound sand, never donate to Goodwill. Just my thoughts. Take care. Hawk out!!
