Call a transmission shop to see how much they charge to rebuild the transmission. That sounds a little high for a small truck.

Honestly I would just stick with the pickup/ trailer combo. The landscape trucks a great idea but bigger trucks mean bigger repair bills especially when you get into diesels.

Samething happened to me. But they gave me the options of rebuilding the transmission or fixing it. My rebuild transmission was about 3k. And it's going strong. Just some options for you

Nice job on that first property. Huge improvement, another week you'll have it back to your level of quality. Unless you have the large amounts of rain, the commercial property had huge growth for a week. You may have hired a rock star.

I believe they also said something about brakes and the $14k included everything but could be less. You need to include all possibilities in quotes.
I doubt he wants to spend even that on it. it's STILL almost as much as the truck as worth

so it's a bad investment. We'll see what he does. I'm guessing he sells it as is, because that's a stupid amount of money
Shift solenoid happened to ours it's the same truck the transmission is made from Allison just a different name we had alot of electrical problems with the truck

You can get a reman aisin for an npr for $2500 those cab forwards are easy to work I’d change it in a weekend. king pins you can do yourself as well $250 a set. How he has the balls to call and give you a price like that I’ll never know....I was guessing maybe 6k not 14k. Stealership

Honestly, although a standalone landscape truck would be great to put a crew in, I agree with others that your trailer setup is more versatile. I agree with your thoughts, value vs cost of repair is a big issue there. I’m assuming from actually watching, lol, that overgrown property was/is rental property and the former tenants didn’t keep it up, or that was possibly a foreclosure situation and that’s a new property owner (assuming based off of the for rent signs in the window).

With all the work already done on the truck, I would get a couple more quotes and pay to have it repaired. Once it's done it won't need doing again. Saves the hassle of looking for another second hand truck and wondering what hidden work might need doing on that.

You may have a broken tone ring on an axle. They will cause an abs event when braking bc the ring moves.
There are multiple things to consider including what you already have into it, what a replacement will cost plus having the it modified to work for you. I mowed today after just a week and had to bag it.

Man yall got some crazy prices up there. In Mississippi it prolly would be half that quote. Only takes like 3 hours to change that trans and hour a side on the king pins. Worked at penske if we took more than a hour on king pins they would be aking whats the hold up.
What kind of shoes was TQ wearing? I have used Keen for years, but always open minded to try a different brand.

Shaun I would get a second and third estimate on that transmission tio...that seem way way too high too.im a dealer mechanic here in New York too....and do them between 6 and 8 grand only now too....I think he's stealing from u too...

Think outside the box on this one….if I remember correctly you said that had a 6.0 litre Diesel engine in there….well, it’s not 4x4 so you don’t need to deal with a t-case (if it was mine I’d convert it…for the hell of it) my point is, put in an Allison transmission and call it quits. King pins are no big deal…just maintenance. I believe you could get a rebuilt or good used Allison for one hell of a lot less. Best of luck.

If you are thinking about another Truck down the road take the bed off store it at the property, sell the truck, then add the bed to the next truck

3k to replace king pins? You can buy king pins for $280 takes a day to replace them. Just had ours done total cost was $1180.. hope your not taking it to a Isuzu dealer. They are high!

About 6000.00 dollars to 9000.00 you have to buy new one because they are sealed transmission i know because I had to replace my 2006 model

That’s to much for king pins. And don’t get rid of the truck. You can find a transmission. Lots of places have trucks that have been wrecked with good tranny in them . I can find you one. If you want me to. Reach out to me if you want me to find one.

Sell the truck Vs Pay to repair but what's the street value of a $15k truck that needs $15k in repairs to be worth $15k?
Could just be a money pit, but it’s worth more to him than anyone else at this point. But I would total it, sell for parts.
get u a reman for 5k and pay noah to put it in. thats a real high quote for just replacing only the bad parts not a complete rebuild.

Well that news about you truck sucks but that's to be expected when buying used! Is the truck worth repairing? T You could possibly get the trans rebuilt or finding a new trans online and having it installed. Does Noah have a mechanic that can replace that trans or the guy that fixed the gravel portion of your driveway at home or possibly any other friends you might have? You also can try finding that trans at a junk yard. After my truck warranty expired I refuse taking it to the dealership. They are a rip off!!! Good luck!!
My sympathies. We had a 2003 Buick Park Avenue that we dearly loved that needed a transmission. $3000 for a car worth $1000. Didn’t happen. 😭😭😭

Well. We had 3 tornadoes in my area last night and a lot of rain. Another day of no work. Think we got like 1 ¼ to 1 ½ in 2 hours with high winds. All is well though. Get to start again tomorrow if rain doesn't come again

@@jamespapandrea8979 wow! Talk about judging! They could’ve been doing themselves and ran into issues with health or equipment, the previous provider could’ve been no shows (I’ve seen it happen).
