I hope everything went well when replacing your orange cable. I hope the connectors terminated properly, and that the extra length of the white cable in comparison to the previous orange cable does not affect the connection speeds of the device or devices you plan on using with the newly installed cable.
here me out, if you look at the length of the cable when you are buying it as any normal person would do, you don't have to be surprised when it's longer than you anticipated
They sell these little white cable holder tab things that you nail into the wall. Keeps everything in place and is strong enough to hold some tension so the cable straightens out
Yo , hope this isnt late , but FYI , if you put the cable outside in the sun for like 30 minutes , it will uncurl and not want to naturally curl. This saves a lot of issues when trying to straighten the cables out
What you could do if you want to make a Ethernet cable go straight, is to go to somewhere you can get it as long as possible, then shake it out, and after everything, you can put some small nails, and use those instead of tape.
Lol my dad has this massive industrial coil of CAT6 cable and if we ever need new Ethernet cables, we just cut what we need off it and wire the jacks ourselves. It’s pretty nice.
I use a plastic “cord” organizer it’s an adhesive+a square plastic tube that opens up you can put your cord inside. I got mine from Walmart it’s technically advertised for hiding TV cables

I love the orange cable, I colour code my cables: Red = WAN, Blue = Lan General, Black = Router to router or switch to switch link, Green = IOT, Yellow = Important devices (high demand), White = Anything else, Purple = Media devices (TV/Roku/PS4)
I use a staple gun for cable management just make sure you have the wire dead in the middle of your staple gun trust me it works great it’s all I’ve ever needed and when you pull them out it only leave’s a tiny whole.
I think that roo sonetimes. I'm also dumb, so that also could be it. Also, good thing it is cause god damn did the bend that orange cable did irked me bad.
This is by far the best networking tutorial video on the planet. This video literally saved me thousands of dollars and years of time training that I would have had to invest in network education on how to unplug one cable and plug another one right back into the same spot. Does the color of the cable affect the speed though? That wasn't mentioned in the video. I can't be going out and just buying cables all willy nilly not knowing the speed ratings of the different colored cables. In my head red cables seem like they would be the fastest.
Dude i did the same. In my old room the ethernet port was on the other side of the room so i got a cord way too long and was able to hide a lot of the excess under my dresser while taping it along the wall

You should give that Ethernet cable a medal instead of disrespecting it like that, it was hanging on for its life
Imagine buying an Ethernet cable and not looking at how long it is
Dude, just have it made to fit the length you need. Any IT supply store should have the tools to make you a patchcord.
Any half component person could probably splice their own cable
@@Critical3rror Fr
Or just measure it and buy the length you need. Save a lot of time and money.

You can put the cable in the sun so it straightens out.
I actually love coloured network cables.
You could add a low voltage wall rings rough in bulk cat6. Terminal the ends with punch down jacks and have a more professional setup
Did u really have to make a whole short on plugging a single cable?
Yo , hope this isnt late , but FYI , if you put the cable outside in the sun for like 30 minutes , it will uncurl and not want to naturally curl.
This saves a lot of issues when trying to straighten the cables out
The whole point of Ethernet cables is that they can be easily cut
What you could do if you want to make a Ethernet cable go straight, is to go to somewhere you can get it as long as possible, then shake it out, and after everything, you can put some small nails, and use those instead of tape.
Lol my dad has this massive industrial coil of CAT6 cable and if we ever need new Ethernet cables, we just cut what we need off it and wire the jacks ourselves. It’s pretty nice.
Man’s a tech channel and didn’t think to cut the cable and crimp new ends instead of tucking it away lmaooo
that orange one was holding on for dear life lmao
The original orange one in diagonal is just 💀
I use a plastic “cord” organizer it’s an adhesive+a square plastic tube that opens up you can put your cord inside. I got mine from Walmart it’s technically advertised for hiding TV cables
In Europe, we simply use cable trunking instead of tape for masking cables.
If it's a lot longer - you can shorten the cable and repack the patch cord. Even without special equipment.
Bro said it was a longer cable but still triangulated it off the corner 😅😂
Warm up a cable if you want it to move the way you want it to, then once it cools it'll try to stay the same shape
How long was the cable?
See, when I do shotty cable management, I tend to keep it to myself, but you? You wanted the world to see, and that's what makes you special 🌟
I think you should get the shortest ethernet cable possible that will fit because then you get best Internet possible
I personally like the blue Ethernet cables the best
As a tech and networking nerd, this is one reason you should learn how to make your own ethernet cables😂
Clear tape. Holy shit man they make tie downs
This is why it’s better to make your own RJ45 cables then buying them, you can choose a specific length if you make them yourself!
"Guys today I'm buying a new cable! Omg this challenge was impossible!"

That's what she never said*
I did the same thing but I used plastic cable clips that thumb sticks to the wall and holds the cable in place looks a lot cleaner
Some tips for you,
Cut ethernet cable to size.
Buy a flat Cat6 or Cat6e ethernet cable
Use nails instead of tape
Heat the cable with a hair dryer. Helps get rid of the memory of being coiled up
I love the orange cable, I colour code my cables:
Red = WAN, Blue = Lan General, Black = Router to router or switch to switch link, Green = IOT, Yellow = Important devices (high demand), White = Anything else, Purple = Media devices (TV/Roku/PS4)
Instead of hiding the excess cable, you could cut the length you need and re attach a new rj45 head.
Braided ethernet cables are nice too
That corner is making my OCD go crazy really put all that work in to massively fail...
Instead of having lower end cables. I suggest getting CAT8 cables which provide alot of speed. But optical fiber is always better!
Should use some cable clamps along the baseboard, then re-cut a fitting onto the other end easy stuff
The orange would go great in my dorm room as my walls are orange lol
I use a staple gun for cable management just make sure you have the wire dead in the middle of your staple gun trust me it works great it’s all I’ve ever needed and when you pull them out it only leave’s a tiny whole.
I love being able to make my own Ethernet cables
Or you could cut the cable and attach a new end to it to make it as short or long as needed.
Ayo what do you mean by that “it was a lot longer than I expected”
The cable was long
I think that roo sonetimes. I'm also dumb, so that also could be it. Also, good thing it is cause god damn did the bend that orange cable did irked me bad.
Fu You’re bad at making videos
Maybe just order a shorter white cord.
Yessir my man using Canada computers cables!
There is literally nail holders for wires to go along floorboards. Just go to the store and ask
They sell a flat cable, much easier to lay on the wall, curls less too.
This is by far the best networking tutorial video on the planet. You could use a hotglue gun to connect it tot the wall.(Don't put it on the wal but on the wooden board.)
this dude really made a vide about replacing a ethernet cable
Never did I think people could be racist to a cable 💀
Bro I legit thought this was an April fools video
To make it stop curling you should heat it with a hairdryer
Bro the orange looked good 😢
To get the bends out get a hair dryer and pull it straight when heating it up
They actually got little clamps that clamp the cord to your wall you can screw in or nail and you try those they look a little better
For the curling just bend the cable the other way it wont want to curl back
As an eventtechnician i can say that Cat is my least favourite type of cable, because it bends like nothing good
Not only did you just grab whatever length cable you saw you also used clear tape 😂
Soon enough we’re gonna be watching vlogs of people breathing.
Bro that orange cable was on life support
If only there were a screw in clip designed for holding such a cable to a fixed object like a wall...
I heard that short cables make better wifi cause it doesn't take that long to pulse into the pc
I mean that is one real cool looking cable ! 🔌

Thank god I have a father figure who helped me with my Ethernet cable. It sounds hard but a staple gun instead of tape makes it look way nicer…
it was a lot longer than i expected.
Use alcohol to remove the tape so you don’t risk taking any paint with it and swap to some wall mount adhesive
Dude really bought a cable that was way too long and complained about it being too long. Just order the right size or make your own custom cable
Why yall hating on this man 💀💀💀 just keep scrolling homies
By the way when you plug it into the wall how is it connected to your internet I'm just wondering how to work it out
Should had bought smaller one lol
The longer the cable, more time it takes to data & electricity to travel, also more chances of short-circuit
I love necessary this is in fact when I enter rooms the first thing I notice is the Ethernet cables on the floor
It’s like I can smell gfuel has natural vitamins and water doesn’t taste good
