I'm a male in the 12th grade and am interested in becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner but I get a little demotivated when people tell my that this career is for female. I strive to make it one day!

So happy I watched this video!! I am in nursing school now (associate's program) and have been looking for the path to get to the end result of NP in Pediatric Ortho Surgery. Originally wanted to work with adults in orthopedics but as school has progressed, I am more interested in the pediatric side. It's amazing to see that this specialty exists and combines my love for the pediatric population as well as orthopedic surgery. Thank you!

NP Paige and Dr. McCormick are one of the finest individuals I have ever had the opportunity to meet. They have grown into an extended family of ours practically!

Informative! I'm thinking of doing my ADN and apply for the ADN-MSN route while working for a few years in between. Though I read that there are some BSN programs which can be completed online. Thank you for the video!

You can either do traditional nursing school either a BSN or ADN just with ADN you will need to do a BSN ladder and then once a BSN you can apply to NP schools. Some schools actually have the pediatric NP program but most programs only offer either family nurse practitioner or adult gerontology nurse practitioner and sometime psychiatric NP. Do the family NP program because pediatrics is part of the curriculum and once you graduate you can get a speciality certificate in peds and you will extra qualified to work in peds, but just with your regular FNP you still can work with peds in a primary care clinic. I am about to finish RN school and looking to do FNP in the next 3 years. I worked as a medical assistant and worked with a lot of great FNPs who saw kids. So the options are yours

Laci Davis so there’s no college required? You just got to a nursing school for 4 years and then apply at different hospitals to become a nurse? Or how does that work

Erik Ashogbon i did a 2 year program for nursing but either one ADN or BSN. After you graduate and pass your test you want to apply to nurse residencies for the department you want to work in.

Laci Davis Thank you so much for replying, I am now a senior at this point Nd time as really flew. I have decided to go for the BSN because that seems like the best option for me. Right now as a high schooler I am taking intro to healthcare and an anatomy class. I will most definitely follow your advice thank you again for some info. Wish me sum luck because this ride is about to get crazy.

Erik Ashogbon there are pre requirement classes before being able to apply to nursing school. Just look up local nursing schools and their requirements
