I’m 23 years old. Been facing many challenges adapting as an adult. I’m passed all the bull shit and just want to start my career. I can’t say I’m interested in anything else as I am in this. I really want to turn my life right now. This is where I want to be . If you see this I want you to pray I make to be what I want. I don’t feel like I’m smart enough but I’m giving this a try . I want to be the best
pedro olague You got this!! You’re never too old to live your dream. You’ll struggle, you’ll probably fail some tests but guess what? You’ll push through it. I wish you the best of luck
I’m 27 and have always felt as u do, that I’m not smart enough, but I can tell u for sure that I’ll be a doctor. I’ve heard from those with worse stats than me, so I got this. If u want, I can pass sources on to u that will really equip u to understand the process and push u along
I love this channel too. I am considering multiple specialities (taking prereqs now though). I work with computers now and I work with AI. I have considered entering into neurology + AI, but I'm also really attracted to emergency medicine and maybe.. surgery. Don't know yet! I had a good experience with my neurologist. Neurology is an incredibly fascinating subject. Thanks again Dr. Webb!
No prob! Neurology is a great field and so is EM. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to pick a speciality. Most people don't decide until their last year of medical school so you have plenty of time. Most people even change their minds like 3 or 4 times like I did:) Just focus on doing well in your pre reqs and everything else will fall in place! Dr. Webb
Matthew, you mentioned being interested in Emergency Medicine. Check out this video with Dr. Bailey who is a ER doctor and lawyer! ruclips.net/video/kRxGkNJ7l5M/видео.html
Thank you so much for this informational video. I am currently in undergrad and I'm having a hard time deciding exactly what I want to do (I'm a Psych major). I know I want to work with children, but it's hard finding the time to do research about all the different career paths. I have dwindled it down to pediatric neurology so far & your video helped!
since you are undergrad you have time to figure out what you want. i thought i wanted to be one thing till I shadow different specialities and fell in love with neurology and ENT. however i know once i do med school and rotations I may fall in love with something else. So dont focus too much on what you want to be right now just know whether or not you want to be a PHYSICIAN as a whole.
I highly recommend diving deeper into the Clinical Neurology med book, I find it so interesting and it definitely revived my interest and dream of becoming a Neurologist myself! x
I'm 16 and i want to be both Neurologist, Neurosurgeon and Spine Surgeon. I both love the brain and watching surgeries. Hope i could do one myself someday!
Dude you can’t be Both a neurosurgeon and neurologist And fyi neurosurgeons do surgery on both brain and spine so therefore no need to specify spine surgeon And if you do both neurosugery and neurology residency and become board certified it will take you about 11 years after medical school to do so
Dr Antonio, please can you do an interview with a Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist? Its my dream and goal and I am clueless about it. It will really be appreciated sir. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this inspiring video, Neurologist Doctor Jillian Alderson is practicing in exactly what I aspire for. So far I am in my early stages of medical school and really look forward to the future🙏. Also I have a question Dr. Antonio, is it possible that you start a mentoring program online?
I'm really wanting to focus on Dementia and that form of work. I know neurology is the right field but is there a specialty or a residency program I should specifically target? This is a dream I am chasing so any information would be greatly appreciated!
I actually just watched a video on specialties of neurology. They are called subspecialties and there is a subspecialty for dementia! So Neurology is your specialty and Dementia would be the subspecialty. Again, I'm not 100% sure. However, I hope this helps answer your question!
This is great! I'm a 26 yr old college student. I'm being referred over to a neurologist. I've never seen one before. I experience chronic pain. (I was diagnosed via a CT scan with Osteoarthritis in both jaw joints. Left side extremely affected, right side, mildly affected.) I had never thought my young age I have arthritis. Well, the pain goes diffuse. My jaw swells. My legs hurt and my knee locks up in cold weather. My hands and feet tingle. My back feels like electric shocks and bee stings. It's real awkward. I went from 130 lbs down to 100 lbs. Hopefully I can figure out why I suffer with these things.
Question They mentioned 4 years of medical school, 4 years of residency and 4 years of another school. Would that be 12 years of school and residency in total?
I'm a 4th year engineering student. I've always been interested in neurology and my dream has been medical school for as long as I can remember, but I'm scared to enter the medical profession since it seems to take away from family life and be quite the strenuous ordeal. I get excited just thinking about neurology but the thought of going into medical school and not being good enough, or not liking the lifestyle, terrifies me. Any advice?
Same I’m scared to go into med school considering myself not a great math student. To become a doctor you need to know a lot of math and science but math is always my weak subject. I want to be a neurologist or a anesthesiologist and it requires a lot of work and study.
It’s not vegus it’s vagus and if you’re smart enough to know this why don’t you know the spelling smh 🤦♀️ I literally just started med school about a month ago and I know this but you don’t ?
Hello, I don't have much experience in that arena but I would say the best way to get into a US residency is to find programs that accept foreign graduates and rotate there. If you can get more when one rotation set up, that would be better. Long as you get your foot in the door then work extremely hard/make connections then that may help. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions! Do one about the pros and cons of anesthesiology
Question
They mentioned 4 years of medical school, 4 years of residency and 4 years of another school. Would that be 12 years of school and residency in total?
The other four years of school was referring to undergrad
I'm a 4th year engineering student. I've always been interested in neurology and my dream has been medical school for as long as I can remember, but I'm scared to enter the medical profession since it seems to take away from family life and be quite the strenuous ordeal. What schools are good for someone interested in entering the neurology field?
Any Medical school (MD or DO)
Happy V Day doc
Thank you!
What are some classes you need to take in college, before going to med school?
Dr Weber make one with cardio thoracic surgeon. :)
I will look into this. Thx!
what are your thoughts on vegas nerve stimulation for stroke tbi treatment?
It’s not vegus it’s vagus and if you’re smart enough to know this why don’t you know the spelling smh 🤦♀️

Wow there is a lot of overlap between Neuro, and near PM&R
Yes, there sure is!

Most of the neurology patients have permanent disease or reccurence, the improvement usually slow even not at all. That s why the patients are loaded
I'm currently in my 3rd year of college and my major is psychology, is it too late for me if I want to become a neurologist?
Not late at all
You can try and get into med school and after that it’s mostly a somewhat bumpy ride to neurology
Can I be a neurologist after neurosurgery
Yes, but not common
So good, am in Tanzania can I get any college which offers neurology study.... Cause I want it...
Can you talk to a pm&r
Im a teen and really want to study the brain
