I disagree about your view of the game. I think Mangamengine (the developer) is the new GDNomad! A refreshing take on the Indie horror genre! Minutes of waiting for something to happen for multiple dollars! Also, didn't see that ending! Complete plot twist there!
I've been getting a lot of comments theorizing that this game was made by GDNomad, revered developer of classics like "My Bones", "White Mirror", "Verge: Lost Chapter", "The Lost Souls" and "Wooden House." However, I don't think this is the case. There is an interesting... social circle of devs making games in Game Guru (AKA FPS Creator) all with similar premises and content. One of these developers is "Peace", who developed "Whispers", "Case #8" and a couple other games I've played on the channel. GDNomad and Peace have both put easter eggs for each other in their games, so it's pretty clear they're friends. There is a third dev, though, named "Jack Twin", who made a game called Nightmare. (I streamed it on Twitch months ago, the archive is still there) Nightmare contained easter eggs for GDNomad and Peace - not sure if they are part of the circle jerk or not, but if not, then it seems this dev group has... fans. That brings us to this developer, "mangamengine". I don't believe they are GDNomad or Peace - "Tungulus" does not follow the same patterns they have both put in their games. It's shorter than their games, it doesn't have the trademark GDNomad "multiple ending" gimmick, and it's just not as well put-together as their games are. It seems to me like "Tungulus" is the work of someone who's a fan of their games, much like the aforementioned Jack Twin with "Nightmare." But again, this is just my theory. I find this weird group of devs very interesting, though. P.S. Yes, I know GDNomad made a new game called Dark Egypt. He also emailed me asking me to play it. And it was at that point that I decided I wasn't going to play it. He just makes the same game over and over again, and while it's funny for meme-age, I don't want to promote that pattern.
I don't think GDNomad actually understands that you don't like his games. If he had the audacity to actually email you about playing his latest one then there seems to be a misinterpretation... Perhaps this is why he makes the same game over and over, he thinks people who dislike his games are merely joking or is too incompetent in the English language to comprehend what "this is bad" means.
Wow, John, nice observation. All these games look the same to me, I wouldn't be able to tell if they were made by a different developer or not ... Steam really needs some serious quality control.
I actually was wondering why you hadn't played Dark Egypt after playing all the other games by this developer. But you're totally right, this developer has probably noticed that thanks to your videos his games have become "well" known among the other representatives of Steam's garbage. The fact that he has emailed you asking for a video on his latest game just demonstrates that he doesn't care about his products' quality, but he's just aiming at being "popular" through your videos. Pretty trash developer. P.S. Just in case you haven't seen anything about Dark Egypt, it's a little bit different from the other games, but still garbage
john, your sense of humor is amazing, also if you want to play other games besides "horror" i think folks would still watch, even older games that you never played, but do what you think works best man
Velvetkoi the problem isn't just people watching, it's it actually getting seen on RUclips and promoted. He has a little system that works. He starts playing other games that tons of people are already playin... he'll get buried in the algorithm.
hardfugoo1 i know, thats why i said do what works, its not that im dissatisfied watching, more just hoping less stress for john, games to find are rough :/
"It looks like you're riffling through the trash" John: "Yeah, I'm looking for indie horror games" Roast of the year right there, keep up the good work john.
John, you fool- don't you realise the underlying message in this game?!? The fridge door is obviously a metaphor for when it's late at night and you get hungry. The dark basement is supposed to be symbolic for the encroaching darkness as you close in on your only escape... the light from the refridgerator!! This is only further proven from the ghost saying: "feed me!" Only one of the many victims lost to the darkness on the way to a nighttime snack. The run sequence represented when your parents hear you, and think you're trying to rob the fridge. That's when you hoof it with your favorite salsa and bag of chips. And to think, you always enforced critical thinking... So disappointed.
This game is the product of a person who knows not only absolutely zero about what horror is, but also someone who can't be creative enough to stand out WHILE charging money for their piece of trash lack of effort. John I love seeing you torture yourself for entertainment, you're a great RUclipsr and we all appreciate you.
Dr. Manhattan's albino cousin makes his debut in this shocking "game," TUNGULUS: a rip-roaring thriller that features beautifully hand-crafted maps, a wealth of engrossing encyclopedias, and anomalous fridge doors mysteriously misplaced in space and time. Will John come closer and like my pretty face? Will it turn out that this is true? Will it turn out I'm not crazy? Haha! HAHAAHAHA!!!
I leave the channel for a second and this dude's intros make me question what happened while I was gone. The Sallyface ep 2 intro was especially...interesting.
also the table cover where the "out of water" note was is a "recopied multiple times" texture of paper freshly torn from a spiral notebook trying to look like a doily(roughly 5:00 mark)
Dude, the intros are making the videos 200% better. I really feel like they give the video a more original feel instead of just being a regular Let's Play (which isn't bad of course)
awesome man. I'm liking how your doing new stuff for the channel. its different. just feels like your either really getting into your channel finally. or your taking the piss. either way its definitely entertaining. good on you man for mixing it up
Seriously John , you are one of the best underrated youtubers I've seen before. I love all your one shots and playthroughs. No matter how famous or big you get , please don't be like the other people and drift away from your simple formula. Much love
John, you are hands down my absolute favorite youtuber. You're always changing but you always seem to just be doing you, and that's fantastic. I'll always be a fan.
You've slowly been going back to playing bad games and I'm so here for it. I'm sorry but I live for how much you hate these games lmfaooooo - side note: I'm very positive this is from the same developer(s) that made white mirror and all those other fabulous games
I rarely, if EVER, think other channels can critique better than John; but I think Danny Sexbang was very accurate when he used this game as a comparison to another failure of execution, by saying: "This is Tungulus levels of incompetence"
you never cease to amaze me at how smart you are with font faces....i only remember times new roman. i don't know how you manage to have all of them memorized like that
1. "Remote the Note" reminded me of "Deploy the hayes" from that older game. 2. The text at the beginning read like when you have one of those friends who goes "Oh, man, have you seen 'Tungulus' yet?" And you say "No." Then the friend tells you a confusing but overly detailed synopsis that's FULL of spoilers and you respond with: "Well, now I don't HAVE to see it."
Love the intro! How sad is this - I recognized the snippet of static you heard! I have the same sound file, and have used it in audio dramas!!! I feel your pain even more now.....
these intros lately are the best part of my days :D also about those fridge doors, there are some old style country kitchen doors that open at the top, kind of the in a barn stall for horses like in Mr.Ed lol but those doors in the game look nothing like the ones im talking about, they're made of wood and look like wood, these doors in game look 100% metal or plastic like a fridge
First, that game title just sparks all kinds of dirty thoughts. Second, your intros have become the best part of these videos. They give us a laugh as well as a warning about what kind of game will soon follow lol
"I cant do this anymore"
"Alright"
Straight up savage
@Rage virus and zombification are 2 diverse concepts his gf
The intro is a masterpiece unlike this game.
I disagree about your view of the game. I think Mangamengine (the developer) is the new GDNomad! A refreshing take on the Indie horror genre! Minutes of waiting for something to happen for multiple dollars! Also, didn't see that ending! Complete plot twist there!
Manga and Nomad should team up, honestly.
Gorflak2 You gotta balance it out
these intros were definitely a good way to improve your content without having to change the base content
Oh yeah, because two times is sooooo much. >>
content
mmm that content
I'm content with all of this.
mommm, daddd. any content? content? content?

n3p publicity is publicity which can draw cult followers

Shadow Freak Learn to read then.
Just here for my daily dose of John rummaging through the garbage. 😊
W E A T H E R B O I
JMar Thanks for the Daily dose doc
He is taking my job.
Nice of you to let him in your home.
arent we all
Damn John these intros are spiced well!!!
Consume the intro, spice it well!
Ka Pow lol!!!
Let the indie horror games be burned!
don't....
But spicing these games will allow you to have nice consumption. We want our flesh meat mike!
I feel these intros are a reflection of John's mental health. It can't be good for someone to go through all these games he goes through.
what if he was legitimately digging through the trash bin
I really wouldn't mind a full 20 minute video of just those intros.
'Is your refrigerator asset running?"
john, your sense of humor is amazing, also if you want to play other games besides "horror" i think folks would still watch, even older games that you never played, but do what you think works best man

Velvetkoi just giving a reason why changing up the formula probably wouldn't work well for him in this case.
I wouldn't mind a John playthrough of KOTOR I. Especially since I pretty much know that game front to back.
I mean he does have the harshelyshitical channel although he hasn't uploaded anything there in quite awhile.
Omg John😂 that intro was pure genius! Your intros have me cracking up every time, killing it dude.
I miss those
"It looks like you're riffling through the trash"
John: "Yeah, I'm looking for indie horror games"
Roast of the year right there, keep up the good work john.
10:14 "Kingdom Hearts. Just Kidding. Ha Ha."
- John. The puzzle master
Next time you're in that dumpster check for my ex
Savage lol!
true 100_%
And mine. Maybe they're friends now.
Dayummm
Roasted and toasted
She aint comin back from that
And I thought I was the only one who went dumpster diving
ToastedShoes Yeah, you crazy home invaders.
John, you've become a giant pillar of salt.
gotta spice the flesh somehow
Jh'ane Jones Spice it *well*
John, you fool- don't you realise the underlying message in this game?!? The fridge door is obviously a metaphor for when it's late at night and you get hungry. And to think, you always enforced critical thinking... So disappointed.
I think you've mistaken John for MatPat.
Tigranis Lol, it's a joke mate. I don't think this even seemed GameTheory worthy.
I don't know... it sounds like half of his theories. ;)
I think john was hallucinating thinking it was a fridge door because he was hungry from rumbling through the trash
im in tears
This game is the product of a person who knows not only absolutely zero about what horror is, but also someone who can't be creative enough to stand out WHILE charging money for their piece of trash lack of effort.

@john Wolfe dude, I know you heard this from so many other people but that intro was priceless to say the least
"so what? He's smoking, drinking, eating pizza and wearing a cowboy hat?"
*'merica*
LOVE the new intros!
the defeated sigh quickly getting cut off in the beginning is what made me laugh most for some reason.
"John, I can't do this anymore."
"Alright whatever"
Zero fucks given
I leave the channel for a second and this dude's intros make me question what happened while I was gone. The Sallyface ep 2 intro was especially...interesting.
With a name like Tungulus, the game should be more like porn.
mr guderian 😂
sounds like a hentai
mr guderian don't watch porn so I don't get it
Richard Sanchez omg man stop
No no no, that would be interesting. We don't promote that here! 🛑🛑
John, please come clean my dumpster out. The neighbors make unity assets!
also the table cover where the "out of water" note was is a "recopied multiple times" texture of paper freshly torn from a spiral notebook trying to look like a doily(roughly 5:00 mark)
Wait! You paid a whole dollar to rummage through your trash? That's highway robbery right there.
lol that intro was one of my favorite ones yet. I'm enjoying seeing your creative side
Every day, John slips further from the light...
Dude, the intros are making the videos 200% better. I really feel like they give the video a more original feel instead of just being a regular Let's Play (which isn't bad of course)
awesome man. I'm liking how your doing new stuff for the channel. its different. just feels like your either really getting into your channel finally. or your taking the piss. either way its definitely entertaining. good on you man for mixing it up
You're making your channel better and better and I love it and what you are doing.
That intro was amazing. Perfect. I love it. Then that jumbled "game" "description" right after that... This is excellent. Outstanding youtubing, sir.
I love all this skits and little intros you've been doing! It's great!
john you are the best RUclipsr keep up the good work (:
I love these new intros it's the exact cynical sarcastic humor I've come to love from you. Keep it up
Seriously John , you are one of the best underrated youtubers I've seen before. I love all your one shots and playthroughs. No matter how famous or big you get , please don't be like the other people and drift away from your simple formula. Much love
Intro starts off so good don't think the game will even matter now, love it
These intros give me life, John. This is the quality content that I come to RUclips for.
I like how creative you do your intros now john
John your attitude is inspirationally bleak. You and Oneyplays are the only let's-players I keep up with.
"inspirationally bleak" haha thanks, that gave me a chuckle
John, you are hands down my absolute favorite youtuber. You're always changing but you always seem to just be doing you, and that's fantastic. I'll always be a fan.
I am glad I found your channel. That intro is the most hilarious thing I have seen all week.
You've slowly been going back to playing bad games and I'm so here for it. I'm sorry but I live for how much you hate these games lmfaooooo - side note: I'm very positive this is from the same developer(s) that made white mirror and all those other fabulous games
Ali Rodriguez Same here
Kreastricon62 they might have changed their name again.
GDNomad is stilll GDNomad on Steam (Who, by the way, made another game called Dark Egypt or something.) but who knows.
I love these new intros you've been doing they're glorious af
I love these skits man they definitely set you apart, you've found your niche and it is awesome
Wow! An automatic lockpick in the garbage!
That intro seriously set the tone for this video. Great job.
I'm not a big fan of horror games, but I love your intros. Got me watching all of your vids man. Keep it up.
I rarely, if EVER, think other channels can critique better than John; but I think Danny Sexbang was very accurate when he used this game as a comparison to another failure of execution, by saying: "This is Tungulus levels of incompetence"
Everyone already commented on the intros, they're great! I also love the channel banner!
you never cease to amaze me at how smart you are with font faces....i only remember times new roman. i don't know how you manage to have all of them memorized like that
Yahh Kimmy was in the intro this time!!!! But honestly John, thank you for blessing us with these hilarious intros lately ♡
I cannot BELIEVE my guy John defiled himself in attempts to do something "out of the box", congrats, I enjoyed seeing this side of you.
I honestly really enjoy what you are doing with the intros.
Through all of your years of being a RUclipsr, you have shown the most improvement in every single one of your videos.
When you said you wanted to change up your channel slightly we didn't know this what you meant. This is incredible
xD John your intro was amazing. I can see why finding good games is difficult. This game was so dang painful.
Tungulus sound like a disease you get from a public toilet.
Your attention to intros lately is hilarious. Thank you for these gems.
Thanks for continuing to publish videos, John. They push my existential anxiety back if only for a few minutes a day.
Best intro yet! And it included whataburger...you win John 10/10 would watch you dig in the trash again!
YOURE KILLIN ME WITH THESE INTROS
these intros lately are the best part of my days :D also about those fridge doors, there are some old style country kitchen doors that open at the top, kind of the in a barn stall for horses like in Mr.Ed lol but those doors in the game look nothing like the ones im talking about, they're made of wood and look like wood, these doors in game look 100% metal or plastic like a fridge
Don't Forget John, You Must "Remote The Note"
I love these new lil intros. I was actually expecting it to end with "John....you have a problem...." lol
I'm so glad my phone notified me so I can watch 30 seconds of John playing in a dumpster.
Hey John, been loving these intros lately! They've been giving me a good laugh, can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Great intro. I have to admit, you are one of my favorite RUclipsrs @John Wolfe!
These new intros are really nice, keep them coming!
I'm loving the intros! Damn they keep getting better and better XD
The number pad that no one uses LOL.
Fridge door? Atleast the house isn't HQ Residential House.
never stop doing these intros i love them
John I love all these intros lately, I hope you keep doing them.
I always look forward to your sass and sarcasm, John. Thank you.
That intro...Extremely accurate to this game.
Your new intros are amazing. I love them.
This is one of the funniest let's plays I've seen in a while!
your intros just keep getting better and better
God I hope these intros are going to be here to stay. They are fantastic. :D
He never does live skits, but when he does. He always nails them.
Damn, that intro is pure fire. Keep it up, John!
Last few intros have been very good, keep them up!
the intros are killing me please keep them going omg
John, you are now my new favorite RUclipsr because of the intros
really enjoying these new intros!!! good stuff
John the intros are awesome. nice way to spice up the channel 🤗
The intro was pretty funny on its own, but when he said "That I found on the bottom of the dumpster today. What?" Made me crack up. Nice touch.
LOVING THESE CREATIVE INTROS!!!!❤️❤️❤️
I love these intros so much. Please keep doing these as much as you can.
I know everyone else already said it, but god these intros are getting so good!
John these intros are so perfect!
First, that game title just sparks all kinds of dirty thoughts.
Second, your intros have become the best part of these videos. They give us a laugh as well as a warning about what kind of game will soon follow lol
OmG that intro made my day 😂 You are the best John 😄 😄
When intros start with John in the outside I know the video is going to be lit
