Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this RUclips channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
My bf went to University in Liechtenstein, and he says the Prince would just sometimes randomly appear at the University and listen to people's presentations and what not. Definitely a prince of the people!

@@JISJ1964 Correct. He is a licensed pilot, and he needs to make enough flying hours to maintain his license :) So even though he won't greet you at the door, chances are he'll be piloting your flight.

They share the great wealth with their people celebrating a very good lifestyle. Notice there isn't any poverty, filth, homelessness, nor protesting and all the people seem united, happy, and content in nature.
Evidently he is the wealthiest monarch in Europe, despite his country being so tiny.

It appears not only the royals are in the money and real estate, but also most of the citizens where you don't see all the filth, poverty, and homelessness. There are quite a few small countries that are set up sweet like this where as larger countries put on the illusion of great wealth with cultures dictating citizens must act like they are wealthier than they are which is where credit comes into play oftentimes as in keeping up with the Jones to maintain face from humiliation. Mid sized countries like Germany had a mostly prosperous broad middle class, but this is changing the past several years where rents are going sky high inducing homelessness and poverty. It's a variety of little America where it is orientated towards employing cheap workers from lesser developed countries who are motivated to do anything asked of them. I like Liechtenstein who take care of their own first which is the most patriotic kind of country system a country can be about.

I was born in Liechtenstein and the queen always visits hospitals at Christmas, and she gives a book and socks to newborn babies born in December like me. I feel quite proud😎

A random, fairly lengthy conversation with a World Head of State is among the coolest things I have ever seen on any travel vlog anywhere. That is one for you guys to tell the Grandchildren about years from now. It is not every day that one gets to meet and converse with a world leader, no matter how small the country might be. Bravo.
The Prince seemed like such a true gentleman and genuinely nice man.

The prince is just a normal guy, with the power to veto any government decision if he deems them too stupid (which he very rarely has to do).
His power isn't what defines him. He's a man of the people, and regularly comes down from his castle to see the people 👏
Other countries could learn a thing or two. A leader who is literally one of the people he is in charge of, rather than putting himself on a pedestal above them all.

@Death Dreams Switzerland, although you should know that our Executive consists of 7 people and all of them are equal in power. Every year one of them is voted to speak for the other 7, that's our "president". He is one amongst 7 though and not the leader.
As a Brit living in Liechtenstein... it's only weird to us (no longer to me, I'm used to it now) because we're used to the media pitting us against one-another for profit. Every single news article in the US and UK are so full of objective opinion and inflammatory statements and buzzwords, it's impossible not to be angry all the time.
If you have Google Chrome installed, check out www.vaterland.li, www.volksblatt.li and www.radio.li/nachlesen - use Chrome's built in site translator and you'll instantly see what I mean looking at the news articles. Zero opinion or inflammatory statements whatsoever. Just pure fact. Liechtenstein is a country where the people literally have nobody persuading them to hate one-another.
Can you imagine a US where the media didn't only report crimes which benefited a narrative and/or political objective? Or where stories weren't entirely fabricated, like the whole Jussie Smollett deal? Kinda shows the US and UK's media to be an outright and utter embarrassment.
Liechtenstein also has a zero tolerance on homelessness, and the government will literally put you in a hotel before allowing you to sleep on the streets. There are crimes, such as burglaries and assault, but murders are almost non-existent, and kidnappings, I've never heard of a single one in an entire decade of being here. The crimes which do most commonly happen, are ones caused by alcohol intoxication.
That was hysterical, the Prince talking forever about rice, as if you asked. I guess he considered you a lovely ambassador for the US. Good work there, how fun.

I’ve been fascinated by Lichtenstein ever since my grandma brought me a coffee mug from there in 1991. It was a really lousy gift for a 10 year old but it piqued my interest in this wonderful country!

fun fact! Liethenstien is the last absolute monarchy in Europe. The Prince has the power to dismiss parliament, veto any laws and can proclaim martial law and take over the government at will. Alex Wong--what is your channel and what is it dedicated to? Do you incorporate any history of the places you visit? And do you research the "top sites" of each location beforehand? I am searching for something similar to this but with a little more depth, and possibly some useful travel tips along the way. Like a "Travel Channel" type show (but on You Tube) with short clips that my 20 year can find inspiration and learn from throughout his upcoming tour of Europe. I agreed to pay for it, but want him to actually learn something about the history and culture while he is there. Not wander aimlessly and unprepared throughout his travels... (since his Mommy the historian won't be with him to make his trip "meaningful" this time....)
I bet after 100 countries, you guys would travel to a place and stay more than a week and we will have more in depth traveling video for each places. I’m so excited for that. Love you guys.

If you came to Liechtenstein in 2019, you just witnessed the last National Day before the pandemic. And you are right, Price Hans Adam is the Prince of the people..you even get the chance to meet him on a normal evening while eating pizza and drinking beer with his wife. We are really lucky to live in this small, but absolutely amazing country!

I travelled to Liechtenstein a few years ago and absolutely loved the people! (The drive up the mountain, behind Vaduz Castle, was scary, though! Those roads were skinny with no rail guards)

Gaby Barrow its not that different from live in other countries i guess. The only real difference is that you know almost everybody or you have at least seen most of them...😄 and that it takes only about half an hour to get through Liechtenstein by car😅

I loved our visit to Liechtenstein. It may be small but it's mighty with history and beauty. So glad you did make it there and how fabulous was it meeting the Prince?!? I agree with some of the other comments...I think the Prince was quite taken with Kara.
