  • Just a quick video on the Yamaha FZ-09 and Yamaha MT-09 my honest opinions. I have received several questions recently about giving my thoughts on the FZ-09 or an MT-09 review, so here you go. I also give a little insight into the MT-09 vs MT-07, or FZ-09 vs FZ-07.
    I have ridden these bikes plenty and owned one myself, so this is all from my perspective and opinion. The FZ-09 is an awesome street fighter, or naked sport bike if you prefer. I think it really lives in the same sweet spot that the Triumph Speed Triple has occupied for years now!
    For an FZ-09 honest review or MT-09 honest review, they are great sport bikes that deliver plenty of power, super nimble handling, a great transmission, and killer looks all while still being in a killer price range new for as much motorcycle as you get!
    Keep the questions coming and I'll keep answering them, ask a motorcycle guy!

    Coming from a CBR600RR and getting a 2017 FZ09, I was extremely happy. It takes some getting used to. Its defiantly a very different ride in the seating (more comfy on the FZ09) allowing for longer riding, no painful wrists or back. But the engine...shes amazing.

    Great honest review, also upgrades for this bike are everywhere which gives you the opportunity to make it a bit more individual if you like that sort of thing. Had my 2017 model for a full summer now and loving it but the seat is too uncomfortable for me. I've changed it for the Shad seat which has transformed the riding position and the comfort levels. Just wish the tank was a bit bigger. Peace.

      The stuff I don’t like on the 09, is better on the z900.
      Z is lower, you sit in it
      Z is a little more forward on the bar weighting, just right for an old super sport guys back.
      Z has a more gradual torque application. 09 always seems too spastic, making you pull back too hard on the bars and lightening the front wheel.

    So, Im pretty experienced at making my SV650 do what I want, putting it where I want it, I've also spent some time riding a Bandit 1200 but only ever thrashed it on straights and not in corners like I do my SV, I've been a rider since 2004 but had a bad accident 2010 and only just bought a new bike last year. Ya still think the MT09 would be fine for me to ride? I guess ultimately it would come down to how it felt when I test rode one, but I AM looking to buy another new bike in addition to my 2017 SV650 and the 3 bikes I have decided on are a Kawasaki Z900, a Yamaha XSR900 or MT09.

I adjusted my too and is works perfect just now. The throtle is snatchy though. But must be because of the 3 cylinder engine. I mean for my feel is got a 1000cc sport bike power at low rpm. Absolute fun bike without going far too fast for real word. I gonna swap it for the mt 10 though.

    Another complaint beside slightly mushy suspension is the gas mileage but I’ll take that criticism all day

    • @AlexSimmons11c
      @AlexSimmons11c  4 года назад

      Yeah it did not get as much fuel mileage as I expected due to the way they tuned the triple...but for me it was an easy down side to live with for how awesome the bike was

    It isn't a sport bike without farings, IMO, because of the very upright seating position. To me, being a sport bike means forward lean.

    I got one fron 2016. My second bike. On first i did 2k miles. Fz09 is nice but it's intimidating. I think i should have gone with fz07 but everybody said 'you can upgrade everything on your bike but not get more power'. So i got it and i love the aggressive city riding but for slower twisties it's just scary. :)

    • @AlexSimmons11c
      @AlexSimmons11c  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah the throttle response on them can be intimidating without a decent amount of experience, but just be careful and you should love it for year since you already have one!

    • @maximusmiles8435
      @maximusmiles8435 5 лет назад +1

      Use a taller gear, it helps tame the throttle. There is plenty of torque to pull you out of the corner.

    If the mt 09 had the rider and passenger seat set up like the fz07 instead of that banana seat it would’ve been an awesome looking bike. Thats my only complaint as far as esthetics go...

  • @xXxTripleHxXx
    @xXxTripleHxXx 6 лет назад

    If you think the seating positon of the MT09 is too close to the handlebar you should try the xsr900

    I had a 2016 FZ-09. I can tell you one thing negative about that bike. It does not like the rain. I rode it a couple times in the rain, and it almost stalls. I had to keep the RPM up on it and use the clutch alot to keep it going in the rain. It wanted to die. I'm not sure if they are all like that, or I just had a lemon.

    • @larryhouse2767

    These things are growing on me man, coming from a CBR600RR I feel like these would be more comfortable all day. Thanks for review just one question what is the exact difference between the FZ and MT just body style or?

    • @AlexSimmons11c
      @AlexSimmons11c  3 года назад +1

      The MT is the original Euro model name for it, the FZ was the name used in the U.S. originally. So the FZ and MT are basically the same thing, they just finally combined them into one model name, and updated it across the board over the years it has been out.

      Alex Simmons thanks man appreciate it I’ll be looking into one esp the MT-09 they look like they rip and the wheel doesn’t wanna stay down .... love it 😂

    Very informative but I would 100% suggest more filming of the bike while talking and less selfie mode. If someone watched this and had never seen a MT09 before, they still don’t know what it looks like without your face there...... no offense

    2019 has a new rear shock upgrade! It has last Years XSR 900 rear shock! Yamaha stated that this is a better shock and they went with it on there new MT models!

    • @RCreviews4u
      @RCreviews4u 5 лет назад

      This is according to Yamaha everybody assumes that they were running the same shocks! They are this year! From what it sounds like in theory Yamaha was experimenting with rear shock designs and decided the XSR shock was a better one from 2018! This Suspension is definitely stronger and tighter on the 19! Compared to what everybody’s been saying anyways about them! I am 220 and it works good even in factory settings! The motor the motor the motor oh my God the motor and the transmission! Mechanical porn
      engineering masterpiece
      Words to describe it’s acceleration stupid ,insane ,crazy ,dumb
      The way the transmission sounds shifting in the gears!
      Why I call it mechanical porn!
      Don’t forget to put on your quick shifter for seamless smooth up shifts for your pleasure! 👍😂😍

    I love my 2014 but the front suspension is crap. Not quite so bad since I tightened up the preload and turned the damping all the way in but still bad enough that I bought a set of fork cartridges with rebound and compression damping. Now just to find time to put them in when I don't want to be riding it lol. I will say that I would definitely not recommend it for a beginner or anyone that hasn't studied the physics involved in motorcycles, high HP motorcycles in particular. This thing could easily high-side you if you get aggressive coming out of corners.

    • @AlexSimmons11c
      @AlexSimmons11c  3 года назад +1

      Very true statement as far as it not being beginner friendly, especially that first generation haha. I found that after adjusting my preload the suspension was adequate, but definitely not "great" hahaha
