Hi Patrick! Great video as always. I have a question: I have multiple reports connected to a dataset in the Power Bi Service. Can I apply different perspectives to each report? I set up my perspectives on the dataset but when I go to the reports they don´t show up.
very nice Patrick...always great tips...thanks for sharing video on perspectives & personalized visuals... couple of questions - 1) are perspectives available only for Pro and Premium licensing? 2) I believe perspectives are subset data views and the underlying model will still consume space. is there any option to have global data model and derive smaller subject area models from that global model?
Patrick! Love your videos! I'm doing something wrong - I can't get the personalization options in a published report. I've checked desktop and service and both show the personalization toggle is on. I also checked the personalization for the entire Page in Desktop and it's enabled as well. When I publish, it doesn't give me the option to personalize the viz. I know there have been some updates since this video was posted but I have the latest version of PBI desktop and I'm a PBI Premium user. What am I doing wrong?!?!? Thanks in advance for your wise guidance :)
Would be great if perspertives were not only for personalized visuals, but mainly to switch relationships around ! I would only need 1 Date Table "joined" to all my tables with dates, and create perspectives around the "main" table. Same goes for "join" tables that are used in the operational systems to link multiples kind of tables to each other in a many to many relationship. I would only need to import that join table once, no copy, and configure all the possible joins from that table to the others and decide of the active relationships from the perspective :)
Wow! I've been struggling with how to present an enterprise wide multidimensional model, but struggled with users remembering the valid relationships between business processes and conformed dimensions. Perspectives look like the logical step to represent my bus matrix in the model and helping my users with incompatible contexts. I haven't tried it yet, so keep your fingers crossed. Update: Created perspectives named after each business process. The perspective included the dimensions based on the bus matrix. Power users would like the ability to dim/hide fields when a perspective is applied to a report page. This reduces the number of folders (enterprise BI solutions can have a large number of fields) and makes building new visuals relative to the business context.
Hi, is there any option for connecting multilple perspectives of an SSAS Cube in single report, and adding measures as a filter , adding named calculations as a measure. Please helpme, actually i am using your bookmark solution for adding measure as a filter for now. Please help and sav eme if you know any solution for connecting multiple perspectives of cube.
Hey Patrik Need one solution , where in I have visuals, both are related. The moment u click on first visual , it has to give , its own details, & prevoious 3 and past 3 details as well.. can you please help me out..
Is this - or will it be - available for power bi report server (on prep)? It seems like it isn't, but I couldn't find anything concrete. We have to use report server due to GDPR compliance in case you were wondering. .
I love that this feature is available, but I hope that it becomes easier to manage. There are far too many steps across Desktop, Tabular Editor, and PBI Service to consider implementing this type of feature across multiple existing reports. Perhaps the perspectives editing can be brought into PBI Desktop?
Could you make a video on making data sets in work space, and how to integrate into deployment pipe line? Company wants me to create standard data sets for business users, not sure how?
Really nice feature with personalizing visualisations. We are now launching an application to about 50 people in our organisation. Problem is that very often this feature doesnt work as it should. When people click the personalize visualization icon they can only change the type of visualisation. There are no options for changing rows, values or measures. Sometimes it helps with restarting the computer but this is becoming a real issue for us! Anybody who knows what this it is about...Cannot find any real answer for now...
Although this is a great feature, it loses most of its of value by not being able to also personalize format settings, like chart titles, data labels, axis titles, colors, etc. As a result, it is necessary for the original visual to have most or all of the format settings already correct in order to produce the desired result. Allowing personalization of these formatting options is not on the Microsoft Power BI roadmap and the idea is only supported by a couple of votes in the community. Does anybody know how we can address this issue, assuming it is an issue that others also feel strongly about?
I came here to refresh on Personalize visuals and learned Perspectives as a by the way. Great video, appreciate!
Thanks Patrick! I don't see the report-reader perspective Internet Sales in the page format after creating it in Tabular Editor?
Great video ! By the way, Is there anyway to limit the visualizations that the user will be able to use ?
Exactly what I was looking for with perspectives, thanks for the walkthrough!

Wow Patrick thanks for the tip. I had no idea about Tabular Editor before this. I am going to explore all these add-ons now!

hi Patrick! first of all, thank you for your videos :D , Could you make a video on the little icons on your visualizations please?
This is what I was looking for! Thanks for the great video!
Hey Patrick, what did you mean by "share your reports through apps"?
Thanks Patrick! Right on spot.

yes it would be great, for right now i create 2 dataset to provide different perspectives (different relationship)

so amazing, thks a lot for this video ♥
This is amazing!!!
Hi Patrick
Thanks. I need a help . One of the user has shared dataflow. How can I extract and save in CSV or SQL table
Q Do perspectives enhance the performance or it same as when we use without it?
The way u explain is awesome... 👍👍👍... Power bi had come a long way since 2018...
It would be great if users can save default view for each page of the report after customizing visuals.
There is only one default view at the moment.

Thank you so much.
This really made a difference in my latest model.
Wonderful! I'm self-taught, and I didn't know how prespectives work.

This is AWESOME.....
Dude you rock!!
Can you limit the types of visuals that they can choose from?
Could you make a video on making data sets in work space, and how to integrate into deployment pipe line?

AWEASOME! Thank you :)
You are amazing
This is dope 🔥

I didn't find option to enable Personalized visuals in desktop . I have updated the version today :(. Anybody facing the same issue?
Try having a look in Preview features in Options and check that you have it ticked.
This is great, once my users get used to navigating basic powerbi reports then I'll introduce them to this new super power
Perfect ....

Ugh, Patrick has Auto Date/Time enabled.
