      @@joffreyotg are you using the brake booster and pedal from the Yukon ? Are you going use a stand alone harness or cut down wiring harness? I am doing the same thing here in Texas on my 1958 Apache. I was going to go code 504 but the Tahoe chassis seems a lot easier. My plans is to go on the tour as well

    • @joffreyotg
      @joffreyotg  Год назад +4

      @@Thecargohustler heck yeah get yours running and we can do power tour together! So yes we are using the Tahoe brake booster and pedal. I’ll have videos on that soon, so far it’s an easy install. The wiring harness is still a pin on the board right now. Our thought is to just use the existing harness and fuse box under the hood. Then mate that to a painless style harness in the cab. Trust me videos are coming on that nightmare once we get to it.

    If you have the opportunity to rent a small sand blaster it will be the later "making of any finish you put on it". Get some masonite panels, 2'x3', to use as deflectors to keep away from "soft" parts- and yes, you will burn up a whole sheet doing this. Dad sounds to be the man for the line jobs- his work looked pretty good even after you struggled it out from under! For your "new bushings" at the bed rear- the hot rodder's favorite- league hockey pucks! They are about a half inch- 15mm, I believe, thick and drill and shape like wood, have few vices and are totally water proof. Before you are done you may wish you had kept the Yukon wire harness, if for no other reason than as a pattern- the firewall is falling within a few inches of where it was, the dash is going to be about the same distance away. Will Dad be running any shop cams- in toto, this will be a "low bucks, high outcome" sort of build that fairly recent gear heads could tackle! FR
    PS; Happy New Year, to both of you setting out on this journey. I never got to know my father in that way- I think we both missed out on something, you don't need too! fr

      Thanks for the comment! I cherish my dad as much as I can. We have always had a great relationship so I’m extremely lucky in all of that regard. As far as the harness we still have the Yukon. We have talked about pulling the dash harness out of the Yukon and plugging it back in and working with that. The wiring is still kinda a pin in the board we are working on. Thanks for the hockey puck idea!

    • @joffreyotg
      @joffreyotg  Год назад +1

      So we tried to lower the cab a little with different mounts. Unfortunately it throws all the gaps off with the front clip. Also we ended up with the front of our cab tilted down in the front which made the bottom gap of the front fenders all weird. (You can see this in the video actually) We have since fixed that and it will be explained in the future video. Also if you lower the cab it makes the box height stick up higher than we would like. We are going for a Napco build anyway so we like the height of the setup. If you really wanted to slam it I'm not sure if this is the right frame for it.

    Hey - nice work so far. I'm interested to know where you got the 5.3 you swapped into the GMC prior to the build. I'm also in the Atlanta area (NW suburb) and have a 2005 GMC Yukon with 305K on the original engine and transmission. It's in good shape so I'm looking for a swap motor as the oil pressure idles at 20 and never get above 40. I did follow to see what happens with the build - good luck with it.

    I have just began the same Tahoe 57 Chevy swap. I purchased a 2001 Chevy Tahoe a year ago and just started working on it. I took off the body and I’m removing the wiring harness and plan on using a Psi harness. I have not started the easy chassis swap yet. If you have any more details on that please include I have looked all over for more details on that installation , and I am anxious to find more information. I will share my information as I proceed. Hey Joffrey love the Yukon-57 marriage. I want to do a Yukon Denali -57. Got a question. Will the EZ conversion cab mound allow you to lower cab possibly two inches?

    • @joffreyotg
      @joffreyotg  Год назад +1

      They way the EZ kit t is designed out of the box there is not really a way to lower it two inches. However... if you wanted to take matters into your own hands I'm sure you could. The hardest part would be getting the front clip to align correctly with the cab being lower. You would have to modify the front mount as well to drop the front clip two inches otherwise your gaps would be horrendous Also the box will end up being two inches higher on the back of the cab as well. If you really wanted a "lowered" like low low 57 you might want to look at a different frame. We were going for the Napco look so the height goes with our build.

    Just found this project. I really like the use of the 2004 as a frame. I have a 55 2nd gen GMC and was looking into using the 04. One problem that seemed like a problem was the location of the tires under the 55 fenders. Was that a problem for you? Did you have to narrow the wheel width to get the newer frame under the 50's fenders?

    • @joffreyotg
      @joffreyotg  Год назад

      As long as you have a 55 2nd gen or the "Task Force" build you should be fine. With our 57 we did not touch the wheel with from the stock Tahoe frame at all. Everything you see in our videos so far is a bone stock Yukon chassis. The only thing we did modify if you watch pt 2 is we did move the front brackets of our chassis kit forward to make room for the radiator.
