      Thanks Gaz 👍🏻 it's surprising how strong the joint is too. Plenty of strength for support. Saves buying new pieces too 👍🏻

    Interesting. how would you do if you had to cut a long piece and then put it together again with the same length?

    I want to enlongate the legs of my bed. Would this hold if i add shrink wrap?

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  4 месяца назад +1

      I probably would recommend doing this on interior furniture as it does leave a clean look. It's better for outdoor work or wood that's not on display. If you don't mind how it looks I guess it could work ok on bed legs as long as you get good glue contact on the joints for strength.

    How suitable would this be for fence support & how strong is it? I'm building a fence using pallet wood as opposed to feathered Edge but I have several 4 metre long sections that I was considering using arris/cant boards for but the cost of timber(+delivery) is too high :(

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  Год назад +2

      In my opinion they are strong and useful for fencing. One fence I made has been up almost 3 years now using lap jointed cross members. Spanning from one fence post to another I wouldn't go more than 8 feet or about 230cm. I find that if you do, Arris rail or 2 x 3 will bow over time.

    Curious if there would be enough strength joining three pieces of wood to make an 8- or 10-foot length of 2x4?

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  10 месяцев назад +1

      I used this method this year to build a fence. I used 2 x 3 wood jointed together in this way spanning 11 feet. To make sure it stayed strong, I added some 45 degree supports in the corners. Actually you can check out a video I did about making it: ruclips.net/video/oHszIeZramE/видео.html

    Hi phil. Ive been given loads of 3x3 post 4ft lengths. Using your method will it be strong enough
    to build a small gazebo

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  10 месяцев назад +1

      I would say yes it should be. Make one long post and give it a strength test I'm sure it will be plenty strong enough.

    Nice video , but for sure this is not ideal when you need strength.

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  Год назад +3

      If you need 100 percent strength then I understand your point although you would be surprised how strong these joints are. They are very strong once glued and screwed.

    • @MoranGuyVideos
      @MoranGuyVideos Год назад +1

      @@PhillWyattProjects I'm sure and for a fence it can be good as well as for graden bed and so on. Not something structural in my opinion

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  Год назад +1

      @@MoranGuyVideos yea I agree. I would advise to use a regular piece of wood for a structural job just to be on the safe side.
