Elephant and Castle was a coaching Inn at the southern cross roads heading into London from the south, it was named after Cutlers who frequented the Inn. Their charter and crest has a three Elephants (handles were made from Ivory) with one Elephant holding carrying a Castle keep on its back, this was granted in 1640.
At least he's not playing msc anymore. I remember when that was the only thing he played for like 6 months on end and I acualy unsubbed for a while because i thought he'd never return to truck sim
Elephant and Castle used to be Newington back in the 1700's. The name Newington became too popular so they changed it to the name of the coaching Inn there hence "Elephant & Castle".
Bought a DOF reality P3 motion control rig and with ETS and ATS the unit moves the seat to match the cab movements. A totally different experience for Sim trucking. Great video
I counted 18 times that the SCS city of San Diego has been copied and pasted elsewhere on the Coast2Coast map. C2C is absolute dog ****, absolutely no effort put into anything other than desire for popularity with its huge quantity over quality. @@juhno7659 Everything you said is true, but at least at the basic level, it has given players longer driving times and more states to drive to. After hearing your description of how they've "upgraded" the M25 with an extra lane and all that, I thought that it sounds a lot like what they've done in Stockholm (which also has additional lanes and digital signs), so I had a look at Maps to verify. The M25 looks like there's at least quite a lot of space still between the solid line and the physical edge/barrier of the motorway, so at least you could pull over there? On the E4 through Stockholm there is literally nothing at places, you'll have the solid outer line and bam, the actual edge is just next to that. It's kind of crazy seeing as the road has an average of 150k vehicles per day, many of which are heavy.
I love that you're also using the outside view, this is after all a game and the view is something you don't get in real life, for example at 4:27. A lot of people try to play these games too realisticly I believe. 11:43 is that an accurate dash, an accurate representation of a real M-A-N? If so, that's too bad, at least have an option for a digital speed read-out in the middle.
Blue signs in the UK are for motorways. Green signs are used for Primary routes (A roads) through towns. White signs are used for local traffic. Brown signs are used for tourists. Black signs are advisory routes for HGV's. Hope this helps
17:43 whenever a lane leaves the highway (motorway) in the US, there are many EXIT ONLY signs. This way you know in advance whether or not you can stay on the highway (motorway) in that lane. In ETS2, this doesn’t happen, so you never know whether or not you have to merge over unless it says it on the GPS (SATNAV)
SCS said in their post of the Germany rebuild announcement that other old areas like the UK and Switzerland/Austria will follow. And perhaps they'll even rebuilt "Going East!".
I visited London in 2013, it's a beautuful city. Here in The Netherlands the phoneboxes are deleted last year. So, if you a broken car you need to use your mobile phone and call roadside assistance.
lol the guys from audi are generaly known to be and go nuts! dont like it.. i love the MAN.. the airintake is functional.. diesel needs air ;) i hope for a tuning dlc that adds the performance lion edition of the truck..
You mentioned again how you feel the g force shifter is the weak point of the logitech system, get yourself a shifter improvement kit from 3drap you'll love changes everything feel much more realistic. Thanks for all your great videos.
Great video, great truck! I agree on the small numbers on the dash too. :) Strange I did no see any pedestrians in London, usually in other cities there are few here and there...
I'm loving the MAN. The only downside for me is the GPS being a little to small. Having some trouble checking on the speedlimit. The difference between 60, 80, 90. The engine is a lot more quiet than the old MAN and i just love the huge windscreen !
I'd also like to see Spain and Portugal finally in the game. Also it really annoys me that the Scandinavia DLC didn't involve all of Sweden and Norway. I mean there's less than one third of those countries available now. Baltic DLC is nice to have at least some of Finland in it as a sort of teaser but that's also a bad thing to sort of half-assing it. Maybe there'll be some kind of ETS2: Arctic Circle DLC coming up that finally reveals the rest of the northern parts (so that you'll have to pay for the rest that you paid for before).
yaa and its the same with Finland. Scandinavia DLC honestly don't really feel like Scandinavia without fjords, mountain roads, glaciers, houses in the middle of nowhere, beautiful greenery, unique architecture, cloudy mountains, wet roads, narrow waterfalls from snow melting, unique mountain routs etc....there is nothing....and the dlc is getting old...
Yep... I've bought a few Android head units, and always look for ones with real volume knobs... Nothing more annoying than having to look away from the road to turn the music down.
I think it's sad to see the lack of community in ATS. I grew up on 18WoS and was ecstatic to hear about ATS. It's a good, solid simulator, but can't hold a candle to ETS. Hopefully, with the games having relatively interchangeable assets, SCS could eventually merge it all into a "World Truck Sim" which would also open the door to deving any country's map.
As a Swede it’s fun to see a trailer with “Västkustfile”. Have to agree with you regarding the mods, playing without promods and Jazzycats traffic and trailer mods is’nt really fun... Also agree with you regarding cars, better to have some analog switches rather then everything digital, due to cost if you have to switch the entire digital panel... I drive a Scania R450 with manuell transmission 24m truck and trailer combo in real life and sometimes it can weigh up to 60-63 tones when fully loaded, quite powerful actually, a bit slow when going uphill though... Keep up the good work as always greetings from Sweden.
Paul, Plymouth is in Devon. Only just, but it still counts. You'll cause riots on the streets of Plymouth if you accuse them of being Cornish as their really isn't much love lost between Plymouth and Kernow...
Totally agree re “ glass dashboard “. Too much time looking at the screen instead of the road. Already been a few Tesla’s in head on crashes due to that issue. Leave the dials/buttons where they are!
I’m completely the same about your view on switches in vehicles.i think they should do what for example John Deere does which is till have all the switches for things but also have them on a digital display as well.
A 440 is fine for a 25t load. I used to pull TPN trailers at max weight behind a 440 TGX, and would still be overtaking supermarket lorries uphill lol.
Funny thing is that the junction you were complaining about there with the outer lane leaving that is actually what happens there, it's the middle lane of the M5 that splits with half of it joining the outside lane and later diverging into M4 E and M4 W and the other part of it staying with the M5 that drops to two lanes through the interchange. Still that junction is all wrong as it's not a cloverleaf in reality it's a 4 level stack thus why it's a 2 lane slip road that splits again shortly after diverging.
I can read the Euro6 dash just fine? I do agree the numbers and letters are a bit too small but if you are driving trucks day in and day out you will pretty much learn the dials. Also, they didn't say they were just going to redo Germany, its just where they are starting
I got so happy when I saw A13 on the signs, as that’s my neck of the woods past lakeside. Lol Is there a route that goes from London to Southend along the A13.
Lol Squirrel I think you have had a mix up with Mandelsoft, scs, Germany rebuilding and Promods. I am very that he is still very active in Promods as he still shows a lot of his work and scs is his job 😉 I remember in the first blog post about Germany rebuilding was that it had always been on the communities wish list to have base map rebuilt and I doubt he was convincing scs. 😂😂😂 Also SCS I am very sure is rebuilding the whole base map brining up to dlc standard but it is a lot of work so after they have done Germany and maybe Austria they will go to the UK😃 Other than that, great video!
Cheers Squirrel for sharing the love for Portugal and Spain. For a game named EURO truck simulator, they really seem not too worried on completing Europe. In my opinion, it was a huge oversight on their part to not Include Spain and Portugal when they did the France DLC. That one should have included the three, especially because Part of France was already included in the base game, so we got half a country for the DLC. Scandinavia included several countries, Going east Included several countries. Now,from what I've been hearing they are delaying the Portugal and Spain DLC because they would need to either include a road in the base game that crosses france to connect to Spain, or a new ferry connection for people who might not have the France DLC installed but still want to use the Iberia one... DLC map pricing is also a bit too much Imho... if it weren't for Promods requiring them to work, I would honestly not have bought any of them. That's how I see it when I buy a DLC map, I'm paying for Promods, which is far superior than the base map... Just for the base content included, almost 20€ for a chunk of map is a bit steep... I think they should either lower the price to half (around 10€ or something), or include some added content other than just map, maybe some paintjobs, accessories, and even more trucks once in a while.
The Balkan Peninsula along with Romania will be a nice area to drive in, although I doubt SCS will release all countries in one go. So they could release Spain and Portugal next year, or in two/three years, who knows.
17:00 - I'm so happy to hear that... I'm visiting England in a few months, and I was a bit worried I'd get caught out by sudden left lane exits.... Thank goodness they're not like that in real life.
ProMods really saves this game. There’s a reason I haven’t played it in a while, because I haven’t been able to buy the Italia DLC. Really hope I can get back into ETS2 with ProMods soon, it’s really not the same without it.
The M25 is a smart motorway although only for a few junctions 5-7 & between 27-25 have no hard shoulder the rest mainly have a hard shoulder. True smart motorway will be the M6 eventually
While the production cycle of cars is usually 6 years, for trucks it's ~20 years. Which means that this new MAN is just a facelift. That's why the cab looks old compared to the new Volvo or Scania. Mods are nice but for me, the Achievements and Map Exploration that keeps the game alive. I always keep my maps 100% explored in both ATS and ETS2 which already provides a lot of driving hours for me. There are also the Events. And the only Achievement missing for me is the 1 Million kms one, in World of Trucks. That's what I'm working on ATM. And at the current rate, I'll be getting that before this summer. And that's just the external contracts. there are also MP, and old shool Single player ATS and ETS2 stats for me. So all in all, I'm well over 2 million kms driven already trough the years and still enjoying it.
Volvo is in ATS as is all the Kenworth's as is all the Peterbilts. I don't know if they are exact replicas but they all seem to pretty much work the same and look the same. I have never used a Mod, I just stick with what SCS has as I don't need big game crashes as I'm not that computer savvy. ....... I'm American so I love your British / English accent and even much more of the UK ladies..... You probably don't realize you have an accent, but I sure do. However, your speech is nice and clear and precise even for an american to understand or any one that speaks English. England is considered Pennsylvania's mother state, as it was I think, given to William Penn by the King of England. With out googling it, I don't know why the King gave Billy all this land. However I live in Pennsylvania, USA and my great-great- grandparents migrated from the UK to here, but I have no idea why. I gave you a thumbs up and watched your video on 3/17/2019. Also that last delivery yard you pulled into and parked is fairly typical of ATS... The scenery however was much nicer than ATS including the roads. My next attempt at a game is going to be GTA5. If you know Jeff Favignano, he seems to get the most of GTA5 and I love watching & listening to him play that game. He has a lot of personality. Take care, God Bless...
I did a delivery to Lillehammer in Norway, a tiny inner yard, used teleport to get in, and to get out cause the exit is between 2 buildings and the trailer got stuck on the roof :) Have you had any issues with no jobs with your current filter settings at any point? my main profile is at that point now, well it works fine if i crab my own truck + trailer but just with my truck nope, done reset of economy, slept, traveled to another city still same.
you do not need to leave the M4 for the M25 to get to Heathrow. I am a regular there. I come down from Sunderland, I use the M25 from the M1, then onto the M4 London bound and first junction and take the 3rd exit from the roundabout. Only sections of the M25 are smart motorway and there is also emergency refuge areas every mile or so with emergency phones for you to get your vehicle into
True, same on the section of the M6 from spaghetti junction to the M54 which needed it as that part was always a nightmare being a busy commuter route. Thing is that is probably enough for most real breakdown scenarios as by the time the vehicle actually suddenly stops dead you probably have to have been ignoring warning signs something wasn't right for a couple of miles so most of the time you probably could have limped to the refuge if you had been paying any attention whatsoever to your instinct that would be telling you something doesn't sound/feel right. Don't need to be a mechanic to know that if the car you have been driving for months or years suddenly sounds of feels different there is probably a reason for this and it's probably not a good sign definitely not a good sign if it's getting worse.
I always find it hard to read the dashboards without leaning into the screen or using the zoom. I can't see too well which prevents me driving irl so it's not a surprise I can read I game to well either lol. Big digital displays like on the volvo do make it easier though or that mod that allows you to add the tablet on the dash
The MAN is part of the Audi-group and in turn owned by the Volkswagen group, so I can't see your comparison . As a truckdriver of over 16 years, I have always preferred the MAN, but these days its Volvo who has the best 'papers' if you will. I have driven most brands in real-life, so I know my way around them. So sorry, but your comparison at the start of the game is in my opinion, more of a personal feeling than an educated explanation. And you forgot to fill her up at 18:20, you shoot right pass the petrol station, lol. Other than that, great video and keep up the great work. I have been watching you for some years now...

I’m completely the same about your view on switches in vehicles.i think they should do what for example John Deere does which is till have all the switches for things but also have them on a digital display as well.
1:25 DOUBLE RUBBLE ROBBLE BOBBLE!!
A 440 is fine for a 25t load. I used to pull TPN trailers at max weight behind a 440 TGX, and would still be overtaking supermarket lorries uphill lol.
the road between Amsterdam and Rotterdam is really the worst with the bumps on the highway
not seen your vids for years I used to be subbed but somehow not anymore (cheers youtube) still just as good.
Lol
Is there a route that goes from London to Southend along the A13.
Lol Squirrel I think you have had a mix up with Mandelsoft, scs, Germany rebuilding and Promods. I am very that he is still very active in Promods as he still shows a lot of his work and scs is his job 😉
I remember in the first blog post about Germany rebuilding was that it had always been on the communities wish list to have base map rebuilt and I doubt he was convincing scs. 😂😂😂
Also SCS I am very sure is rebuilding the whole base map brining up to dlc standard but it is a lot of work so after they have done Germany and maybe Austria they will go to the UK😃
Other than that, great video!
Regarding the road signs... its blue for motorways, green for dual carriageway A roads and white for town, city and rural A and B roads.
28:20 FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT !
Trucking! Thanks, Squirrel
"Let's all go down the strand, ave a banana!"
The Balkan Peninsula along with Romania will be a nice area to drive in, although I doubt SCS will release all countries in one go. So they could release Spain and Portugal next year, or in two/three years, who knows.
The "smart" motorways have refuge areas with a phone every so often so you can pull into them and keep the lane clear.
Love the man truck mate
Oh my God! the london map is amazing
In "real life" not on a game the dial display is fine very visible and not to small at all
Isn’t Pudding lane where the Great fire of London started? 😂
Yes
The M25 is a smart motorway although only for a few junctions 5-7 & between 27-25 have no hard shoulder the rest mainly have a hard shoulder. True smart motorway will be the M6 eventually
Elephant & Castle comes from a junction named after a station named after a pub I believe
Only reason I check my RUclips every day is to see if you posted a new awesome video like this one ❤❤
I know what you mean on the size of the writing on the display, that is why I swapped my scania p500 to the daf xf for bigger writing.
I did a delivery to Lillehammer in Norway, a tiny inner yard, used teleport to get in, and to get out cause the exit is between 2 buildings and the trailer got stuck on the roof :)
Have you had any issues with no jobs with your current filter settings at any point? my main profile is at that point now, well it works fine if i crab my own truck + trailer but just with my truck nope, done reset of economy, slept, traveled to another city still same.
you do not need to leave the M4 for the M25 to get to Heathrow.

I love listening to squirrel complain about cars
CORNWALL well how very dare you. lol
17:17 yellow speed camera.
Drive a new MAN to Sutton colefield every Saturday morning with a double decker trailer. In real life that is lol
I always find it hard to read the dashboards without leaning into the screen or using the zoom. I can't see too well which prevents me driving irl so it's not a surprise I can read I game to well either lol. Big digital displays like on the volvo do make it easier though or that mod that allows you to add the tablet on the dash
How to put route advisor in the bottom middle of screen?
Gotta love squirrel getting mad at a good truck because his eyesight is bad.
You are parking expert ! .
Can you do some more bus sim?
MAN even makes vans now.
Audi custom indicators are worth about £1000. DAF trucks have them in the 106 2018 for free.
iv watched all of ur vids and ur vids have inspired me to play and now i'm in university to become a trucker
:D
Paul, how do you zoom like you did at the dash
@Kev 666 my comment appears at the top
You need to set a key for it under camera controls
