Beautiful song and one of my favorite guitar solos. Probably my favorite other than Gilmour's best (in my humble opinion), which I think far and away is the live version of "Comfortably Numb" off the Pulse live album. The second solo from the live version of "Sorrow" is also awesome but I like this one a bit better. All in all, an incredibly gifted man. Thank you for posting this.

I've been playing since 1995.
I wouldn't say I mastered this solo. It's hard to say since I've nitpicked at this solo since I started to learn the guitar. I guess after about the 5 year mark I could play right through it with a decent sound that didn't give me a headache. But, it's taken me everday since 1995 until today to capture some of the feeling David Gilmour put's into his solo's.

I promise with absolutely every ounce of honesty that this is all done in one take. I played to this track ONLY 1000 times previous to this video and doing it in one take hadn't become an issue.

For this video I used an old PodXT Live which I have since sold. I haven't since found anything that can really replicate this same sound. And while I don't think it is accurate to Mr.Gilmours real tone, it does seem to do this solo justice.

I play this myself and is a steady paced solo,but I like the mix of momentary lapse and delicate sound you put in,top job,and is the solo that made me pick up the guitar,the only shame is that gilmour never plays it the same twice

Beer seems to relax me to a calmer state then without it, (but not too much beer) so I feel the music I play on guitar, bass, and keyboard. I love playing cover songs from bands, but the only one I ever learned fully from Pink Floyd is from The Wall, which is "Is There Anybody Out There, which David Gilmore plays a classical nylon string acoustic guitar on that album, and I like to play it on my 1990 Harmony Strat copy on clean, with just a little reverb to to make it stand out more.
