To all the players that say "all you need is a guitar and amp" this is what you're missing. Harnessing beauty via talent AND a few cool pedals for color and sustain. :)
sorrow is an amazing song and just another awesome guitar master piece by Gilmour. and here you are serving out total justice. respect very well played
Very nice cover version. I enjoyed listening to it and I was captivated by it. It definitely kept my interest. I'm a big Floyd fan and have been for a long time. One of my favourite Pink Floyd covers. great work.
VERY NICE THE TONE IS PERFECT CANT BE BETTER IM A GREAT PINK FLOYD LOVER IV BEEN LISTENING THEM FOR 25YRS NONSTOP U DID A GREAT JOB ITS VERY VERY CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL
I must say wow. Your video and how it was shot was way beyond the normal generic youtube crap that's being put out by the millions daily. Awesome angles and most of all, such AMAZING guitar skills my friend. You are very talented.
All my pedals are put in front of the amp (I also used the Studiotone for the main solos). I just used a blender (V1 from Wounded Paw) to mix my dry signal with my Lex signal.
That was amazing!! You have more melody and purpose in your playing than every other version of this great track i've ever heard! Well done. Make more.
Totally improvised on that moment. Those kinds of pieces I'm unable to write on a paper before recording the solo. It has to come from my fingers while playing. Thanks for your nice comments.
Darryld1 Well... I've never been able to reproduice note to note a DG guitar solo with the same emotion, so I've jammed with his/PF records during all those years playing my own stuff and sometime discovering how to play one or two of his own licks. This is the way I've always done it. I've never practiced the guitar with tabs, I've always jammed with records.
See that's what I do too but I think I get too hooked into playing note for note sometimes. Perhaps you've given me the drive I need to try a bit harder at playing it in my own way. I've pretty much nailed Shine on from WYWH and i've been looking for something new to focus on. Sorrow eluded me for a long time but I really liked the way you played it. It's refreshing to hear a well done new version of it.
fpeynet Would it be possible for you to record this track and maybe some other Floyd covers onto a disc or MP3 so that I can buy a copy from you? Thanks.
Thanks! Yes, I did the whole cover by myself, audio and video. Concerning Marooned, I'd need a pedal effect called the Whammy, which allows impressive notes bends. But since I don't have that one, I can't really play this track or the really high pitched notes would be missing.
On the opposite, I started with acoustic guitar and heavier strings. It was a real pain for my fingers, but when I switched for electric guitars and 10s, it was suddently much more easy to bend strings.
Not overdrive : Big muff. You'll find my rig settings in a previous message. Thanks for the nice message, though nobody could fill in for David Gilmour ;)
Effects pedals + volume. David Gilmour seems to play really loud with his Hiwatt amps. To achieve the amount of feedback needed, you have to crank your amp. So it's harder to do when you leave in an appartment. ;)
Dude I am an avid Pink Floyd - David Gilmour Fan have been since 1973. Sorrow is one of my favourite songs of PF and you have aced it PF songs kudos to you I enjoyed listening... I wonder what DG would think if her heard it, I would like to think he would be pleased. He is a Master and you have Mastered this song.
Beautiful! You're not Gilmore but your class of playin' is breathtaking. When I'm listening to this track it feels like I'm listening to the world greatest guitar players. There is absolutely nothing, I'd like to change in this song.
Far Out !! and I thought I could play this song ?!? You Just Blew me far Away mate ! Beyond Excellent !! and well beyond my skills ! Thank you for that Inspiration !
How? Like how do I achieve this tone? I detailed my guitar rig earlier in the comments. One of the most useful tools here is the Strymon Lex (in a loop). It gives that swirling magic to the tone.
A+ Alain
Please make a tutorial video on this song. I do not have the time or skill to learn this entire song by ear. I have loved this song for the past three years and would appreciate it so much if you made a tutorial. I do not think I am the only person here who thinks so.
...and I hereby nominate this version as the best version of Sorrow on youtube.
I second that.
Agreed. Freaking awesome
Everything in this cover: tone, picture, your strat is flawless. Thank you for posting this video, best Sorrow cover i've ever seen
you are complete right. It is an incredible cover. every tone, every effect is on point. great
No tabs, I learned to play it by ear, and I improvise during the solo.
Best tone ive heard for sorrow outside of gilmour. Great job dude.
Holy shit! , what a cover, thought i was listening to Gilmour himself.. the tone is impeccable..
agree 👍🏿🌷
Just watched again a year later. It just blows me away every time I watch it. Bravo! Just Bravo! Frederic
wow.!!your guitar tone is perfect
You are very talented and you have my respect
I have been watching this for years. solo is studio quality, truly amazing.
Hi Barney. The Minicat has just been used for the intro. It has only one channel, but set pristine clean. The distortion is coming from the pedals.
To all the players that say "all you need is a guitar and amp" this is what you're missing. Harnessing beauty via talent AND a few cool pedals for color and sustain. :)
So many good things to say about this. Nailed the intro with perfect tone/feedback. The visual with the strings clearly vibrating is cool. Enjoyed!
Pink Floyd.

Very nice cover version. I enjoyed listening to it and I was captivated by it. It definitely kept my interest. I'm a big Floyd fan and have been for a long time. One of my favourite Pink Floyd covers. great work.
I listen to this every day. Never gets old. And PS, I do not drink or do drugs. Keep up the great work. And pump out some more Floyd tunes.
Super cover.
This is my go to cover when working in my garage... Great job mate you are truly gifted..

Outstanding - you've managed to evoke the nuances that make this a truly special tribute to a very special player. Congratulations my friend.
It is rare thing indeed to listen to a really good cover!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, this is so great, keep doing that!!
It's guys like you that will keep this perfect sound alive for the next three hundred years.
God Bless and keep playing that Sweet Sweet Music.
The quality of your expression is brilliant!!! it is a great magnificent piece of art!!! incredible tribute man!! Just Genius
Excellent work capturing the precise feedback! Cant wait to see more!

To go thru this much work to make a vid?? A True Floyd Fan!!! Bravo on all parts man!!! Great Job!!! Cheer's!!!!
Awesome! Excellent cover. Rare to see a talent like this. Keep it up.
Words hardly describe your talent, it's spot on, and i just came from listening to the original :) 10x props to you for a job well done!
I agree, I'm not a singer. But at least, I'm aware of it ;)
Thanks for your comment.
That was amazing!! You have more melody and purpose in your playing than every other version of this great track i've ever heard! Well done. Make more.
7:17secs in the next section of the epic, is the buildup to the absolutely world class lick which begins at around 7:36secs.
Totally improvised on that moment. Those kinds of pieces I'm unable to write on a paper before recording the solo. It has to come from my fingers while playing.
Thanks for your nice comments.
fpeynet i'm trying to understand how you move around the fretboard so well, while also sounding like David Gilmour.

You MUST be proud of yourself for this? It is tremendous!
Also the sound and video editing is top dollar. Ignore the dislikes; they haven't got clue!
Very very nice light-play with the camera and of course well played on the guitar too man!
Brings chills.... awesome job Sir
I saw Dave do this live in 2016 at the Forum in Inglewood California. This Cover is Spot On.
Intro : P-2 set as a volume boost (Vol-02.00 Tone-Full Sust-09:00) -> SS-2 (Vol-12:00 Tone-11:00 Sust-03:00)

You've given me a lot of joy, Fredric. This is one of my go-to videos every time I am drunk. Thank you.
Do you mean people need to be drunk to like my videos? ;)
Thanks for the comment.
Great job mate! Really enjoyed that. Played it all the way through. One of my favourite Floyd tracks. Excellent! 🎸
Thanks! Yes, I did the whole cover by myself, audio and video.
Concerning Marooned, I'd need a pedal effect called the Whammy, which allows impressive notes bends. But since I don't have that one, I can't really play this track or the really high pitched notes would be missing.
Excellent cover, man! Perfect tone and playing. Great video. Period. Peace, -Mike.

Your video will help me to learn how to play it.
Thanks

Neighbours tend to get a bit pissed off.
Unfortunately we can't pick our neighbors. 👍🏼
Y'know what to do about bad neighbors? Put 'em up against the Wall!
Your tone are very nice, faithfull with the original
