Mike Pannone and I designed the 1/2 and 1/2 drill to reinforce some of the principals that we both think are key to tactical carbine shooting. Work on getting the gun quickly up on target; drive the gun to the center of the target on the follow-up shots; SQUEEZE the trigger on every shot; shoot as fast as you can accurately place rounds on target; and keep your weight on the balls of your feet, support hand forward on the rifle in order to properly control recoil.

Glad you liked the drill! We understand how difficult it is for a lot of shooters to get a hold of advanced targetry so we try to use a lot of simple drills that can be used without a lot of range supplies. As far as the sling goes, yes it's camo. We expect to have that model for sale in the store within 6 weeks.
Just wanted to take a second to thank you very much for posting these videos. The quality is fantastic, the drills are excellent and the level of shooting is impressive. I really dig what you're doing here and hope you will continue!!
@John234pwns I feel it's a bigger scar to lower the wpn & not place it on safe. We train to mount the weapon and disengage the safety as you acquire sights. Too many times I see folks shoot, not follow thru, double tap, then leave the weapon on fire as they look over their weapon. All bad habits. We don't teach double taps, we don't teach waving the weapon around. We teach to shoot until the threat is eliminated then move to the next threat.
My favourite drill! ❤ practising it every time!
@VikingTactics
I don't see anything wrong with the CED. I am rocking the tactical black version and have nothing negative to say about it.
Yeah since I posted that I have tried these drills on a few occasions and they are really tough at 20 yards (using 8" rifle target). I definitely know the benefits of practicing closer!
Less than 5 outside a bull making all the times. With IPSC targets, you should set a goal to shoot it clean (all "A" zone hits).

@MilPic1 Just type shot timers into Google and see what pops up. I use the Competition Electronics version, the one that is Tan Colored. It isnt perfect but they are not that expensive and I go through a lot of timers.
I have tried the smaller timers and have not had much luck. Needs to be simple to see, simple to use, the CE version is.

Very good videos; alltough the quality might be a little bit better. Beside that: Awesome drills. Pleasure to watch. Will there be more on you Tube / Vtac ?
Thanx

I love this drill, will get going on this. Thank you for sharing, explaining in detail and a great quality video too. -whitey
Good shooting Dan, but I wonder if you can attribute that wicked speed and accuracy to that fat dip in your lip HAWHAW! Like a Boss 300 point drill!
hahaha I love it, "your foot is across the line" Great instructor.
Pnz
I use:
20 yards 12 seconds
10 yards 6 seconds
5 yards 3 seconds
All shot from a start position of Position 3.
Kyle
fastest i can do is 10 shots in 7 secounds - with a straight pull AR-10 due to uk bullshit commuist laws
I like the drill, can't wait to try, when I think about training with my ar I always in vision practicing with several targets like some of your other drills on youtube and in the book. Its great to see a drill that is so simplistic. Thanks Kyle. It was hard to tell on the video but is the pad on your sling camo?Thats new. Are we going to see it in the store soon?
im going to answer with my opinion if thats ok. ametures train till they get it right, professionals train till they get it wrong. at 5 yards, yes thats close, but the fundimentals and skills are still the same. so it builds confidence in new shooters, helps experienced shooters improve on speed and accuracy... ect. if 5 yards is easy for you, push yourself harder. use smaller targets, demand perfect runs, set faster time requirements for yourself, ect, ect.... but still train at all distances.
Good stuff, I'll have to try it out at the range tommorrow!!!
I'm new to carbine drills. What is the purpose of 5 yards? I see this distance practiced in quite a few videos but it seems... a bit close for a rifle? I just mean, why practice something that basically requires no aim, muzzle control, or trigger control? How can you do it wrong?
How i can transform this drill effectively to pistol? I go today to the range and try 15m / 6 Shot / 10 Sek --> 10m / 6 Shot / 5 sek --> 5m / 6 Shot / 2.5 sek. Is this a good goal?
great vid and shooting!! How do u guys like running the eotech sights?? have been looking into purchasing either that or an aimpoint micro t-1
"Safety on, let it hang!" 😏
4:08 so we are supposed to be watching his trigger finger while @ the 5 yrd line but he was using a cheat code cause I couldn't see his finger move lol
I've been searching the web for new drills. I've found my new home. Love your style, bro. Nothing cheezy going on. Just quality shooting information. I just watched a video on the Bill drill version 2. And, although I love that drill, these guys ruined it, by cheezing it up at the end. The instructor had them following the target to the ground, with their eyes, and their pistols. Then, if that wasn't enough, they scanned the area afterwards over both shoulders. These geeks are ruining the shooting sport. There's no place for foolish "theatrics" in combat, and defensive shooting. You know the types... Guys that have probably never even changed a flat. They call road service to rescue them. LOL Makes me laugh. American men are becoming wayyyyy too soft.

I feel the big secret to this drill is to know your hold over.
