  • I thought I was in the home stretch with the DC2 but there's still a good bit of work left to get this thing dialed and reliable. VTEC solenoid should be happy now but it looks like there's some new leaks and electrical issues that need addressed as well. :( Just got to keep working at it!

    You just need to rip more TEC and the engine will reseal itself. It just wants to be driven hard! 😆

      Ah, that's the secret! I knew I should have asked the TEC master first! 😂

      I really appreciate that! I think some pulling apart, cleaning, resealing everything I can is in order to hopefully make things happy. We'll get there but man it's making me work for it. 😆

    What car do you prefer, the DC2 or EK9

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  Год назад +1

      The DC2 is definitely growing on me. EK9 was my original preference and I still really do like them.

    Why don't you have a suction collector from b18c?

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  Год назад

      This is a Sir-G model DC2 (like American model GSR). B18 engine. DC2 chassis but lots of differences throughout the car when compared to a Type R. Head, intake manifold, intake tube, etc are all different.
      This intake manifold is designed to make more torque in the lower RPMs. They really put a lot of work into making two different cars that are still so similar.

    Distributor O ring? I discovered an oil leak that shows up above the transmission is usually dizzy related.

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  Год назад +1

      Brand new distributor in October so I hope not. It seems like it's coolant now but either dripping or a small spray from somewhere only when under pressure.

    With my B16, it was left unused for 3 years? I've used a good engine flush, new oil and filter.
    The valve cover I discovered had the gaskets installed with Hondabond. Mating the gaskets to the metal of the head. All of that was scraped off with a blade. The valve cover was reinstalled correctly. Any residue that fell into the head, I made sure there was nothing inside the engine, to the point where I pulled the oil sump off. It was a good opportunity to install an oil baffle.
    I bought brand new solenoid gaskets, same as yours. But I also checked if the 'piston' was moving. I also took the solenoid apart and cleaned it with degreaser to make sure no old cruddy oil was left.
    So far, my car works fine. Scarily enough as well, the car doesn't burn a drop of oil.

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  Год назад

      Haha, that's great! Burning oil and B series is kind of a thing.
      Good for you for doing all the maintenance. It's probably happy after getting all that love!

    Sorry a little off topic -
    but is there a lot of Honda theft over there like here in America?

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  Год назад +1

      Sadly, theft of all cars of this era is a concern here. Their ever increasing value, primitive security, and overall lack of garages here make them a prime target.

    Hey, love your channel! I’m in the process of rebuilding my 99’ Gsr and noticed that your intake arm looks different? Are you running a ITR intake arm?

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  Год назад +1

      Oh very cool, thanks! Yes, it's an ITR intake arm. The GSR/Sir-G one is discontinued but ITR is still available. It's in one of the engine bay refresh videos but I made it work by trimming the air filter "clocking tabs" and rotating it in the air filter housing. That let the ITR tube slide on and tighten down without issue. The hardline to the valve cover also fits. Definitely worth it for reliability and just looking better in the bay.

    Check your Neg Battery wire and grounds between the engine block and frame. Use an Ohm meter. The wires might look good but have internal corrosion.
