- Debelah Morgan amazing and very underrated. Her coloratura skills are technical...and just perfection! She is one of my top whistle queens.

Vanishing Moonlight Very smooth transitions(no breaks when she enters the passagio points). Her whistle is not disconnected(like Mariah's). It just descends heavenly with ease.

Lamb Forever whistles are meant to be disconnected so this is actually super head voice we hear debelah doing
The reason why Mariah is held in the regard for whistle like she is, is because her whistle is so clean and musical. Her transitions are seamless. She mastered the whistle. There's nothing wrong or unimpressive about this girl, it takes mad skill to do this, but I have never heard anything like Mariah's whistle technique.

@@ducanalexeze-bikono7217 her techneqiue is risky listen to mariahs performance of the one in 2002 she did 55 notes in 15 secs also you didn't give Mariah any credit that was very much due Mariah has been doing this for the past almost 35 years and she still has her registered intact now debula cant go any higher than a Bb6 in prime Mariah can go to a B7 in Prime and in 2019 she hit a F sharp 8 so in my opinion Mariah still way better technically tonally longevity musically Artistry and everything in between
Mariah is held in high regard because of her artistry and her overall package as an artist (5 octave vocal range, high/low notes plus a whistle register not to mention her songwriting/vocal production). With that being said, Debelah has done things with her whistle register that Mariah can’t even access properly. Mariah is not the top dog when it comes to the whistle and it’s perfectly fine. She outclasses in other areas.

Maybe it's me but I don't like the sound of her whistles. I recognize her technical skills but they don't sound pleasing to me. I prefer Mariah's piercing sound or like Minnie's super headvoice sound. She has skills though.

Krayola D its just that "super head voice" is a nickname for whistle register. And mariah indeed uses whistle to achieve notes in octave 6 and above

I love her whistle runs like from 1:22-1:24. A lot of her whistles sound of operatic quality. Her coloratura skills are definitely outstanding!

C heart Really? As much as I like her, in _overall_ agility Debelah Morgan isn't even more agile than Beyoncé, really, since her agility is largely confined to head voice and super-head voice. Her _fioratura_ in chest and 'mixed' ranges aren't really comparable at all.

Her whistle is different from Mariah's. Superb singer, for sure, and should have had a much bigger career than she did.
When Debelah goes into that part of her voice it's very connected, which is a sign she is using connected head voice to sound like a whistle. A lot but not all the time it sounds a little squeaky and thin, but it's a healthier technique than the way Mariah access her whistle. Mariah achieves her whistle through disconnected... Disconnected is like falsetto, it has the tendency to be very airy and light. However, it can be unhealthy for the voice if excessively because it requires a lot of air pushing through the vocal cords. Nonetheless, Mariah's ability to color and style her whistles are very well executed and masterful.

@@alisondream2740 Debelah uses flageolet, not “an extended head voice.” You cannot, no matter how well trained or high your voice is, go past a certain note in just head voice. Most of her notes above F6 are whistles, specifically flageolets

I would like to call her a Mezzo-Soprano, but because she exceeds F6, and very well past G6, I would have to call her a Soprano, especially because she has hit F6 and higher in live performances and can flourish her notes in Colouratura just as easily...So I would have to call her a Lyric Colouratura Soprano. Kumtekmeon So can Mariah but she uses whistle register and not connected super head voice. Mariah has done seemless transitions from chest register to whistle register several times, listen to Vaishing SNL rehearsal, and lead the way and circles and so on... She has a lot of agility as well.

She has a great voice and amazing skills but imo, she lacks musicianship. That's why her whistles sound like something for show rather than communicate.
How does she scale down from the whistle into what seems like a connected head tone? You can't hear the break from the whistle into her head voice at all. I'm confused tbh.
mellynumerounoo o I know exactly what you mean. I don't think she uses a "true" whistle register; she uses what is known as "superhead voice" which is an extension of head voice, I believe.

It seems pretty impossible to scale down into connected head voice from whistle register without even the slightest break in the transition and no discernible change in timbre either. I've never even heard Mariah do that, and she was one of the most skilled users of whistle register ever in her prime.

Now for males. I don't know if this is in or out of your realm. But I would suggest Ryan Tedder, Adam Lambert (most already does his), Gavin DeGraw (like seriously, why hasn't anyone did one for him), Austin Brown (MJ's nephew), Elijah Blake, and Mateo. They all pretty much have outstanding voices and vocal ranges.
Dave Knight The males vocalists I plan to do are Luke James (of course), Mali Music, Deitrick Haddon, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, etc. I do plan to do a collection of my favorite notes from current male vocalists. There are a lot out there that need to be showcased, so I have to pace myself. I will check out the ones you named too

I can agree with you on that because it took me a while to take a liking in her style. Her voice isn't for everyone because a lot of people do not care for all the extra acrobats she does. Again, I can agree with you on the whistle, however I don't believe Debelah carries a "true whistle." I think she uses super head voice and the reason I say that is because when she goes into it everything is so connected and a whistle is disconnected like falsetto. Also it sounds very thin which when you go into head voice the higher you get usually starts to thin. Certain parts sounds like whistle, but in reality I just believe it to be super head voice.
