- Oct. 2010, I posted "Chante Moore (My Ultimate Whistle-Tone Singer) It's Alright LIVE" video to RUclips. To date, it has 38,766 views and is often shared in the discussions of best female and/or whistle-tone singers. Here's another UNBELIEVEABLE PERFORMANCE from one of my favorite artists of all-time. Chante Moore performed four shows over 2 nights at Yoshi's Oakland (Fri.. 03-07) and at Yoshi's San Fran (Sat. 03-08) ...this is from the 4th set on Sat. 10PM set in San Fran.
"It's Alright" from her first CD Precious is now a crowd favorite as Chante shows out with notes in the "whistle tones" for minute after minute. MUST WATCH VIDEO TIL END. 4:30 on is simply amazing! Chante's new CD Moore Is More is available on all download sites and includes the jazz classic "Cry Me a River," also the inspirational song featured on R&B Divas: LA "Jesus, I Want You."

Chante is the Queen of whistles. The amount of creativity, clarity control and ease she puts into this 4-5 min, non-stop whistle session is unreal. Can we talk about how high she went? I've never heard whistling to this degree before- SPECTACULAR!!!

Only a handful of people who ever walked this earth can do a whistle register in an Entire Song. Now if Mariah or any mainstream singer did EXACTLY as Chante did this video would have 100M views & everyone would be saying why 'such in such' is the "greatest singer in the world" and there wouldn't be anyone to compare that person. But, because it's Chante there's only 50k views after 6 yrs and folks still questioning her God Given talent.
I have been a Mariah fan for all 26 years of her career, but you really are speaking the truth. Whistle register wise, this lady sings circles around just about anyone out there. I don't know of ANY singer has sung in them a consistent FIVE minutes--without the slightest appearance of strain. The closest Mariah has come to it was in "Bliss," and even that, that was studio and never performed live.

Just because mariah hasn't done it , doesn't mean she can't! this isn't impressive or maybe you are just easily impacted on. this shit was shrill and annoying. you ain't no fan of Mariah. Mariah never shows strain when whistling only when she tries to make it powerful.

Please share an example of Mariah doing 1/20 of this, especially as high, LIVE. Not in the studio where she can do anything with her voice, LIVE.
Here's the distinction between Chanté and Mariah. You can take a random sampling of Chante's performances to check if they're live, and they'll be live and CONSISTENT. Do the same for Mariah, and you're pretty much guaranteed that you're going to find pre-recorded vocals or or outright lip syncing. The only change is Chante's voice in her career is the natural lowering of it. She still has unmatched mastery of her whistle and still belts without problems. Mariah avoids high notes, lips whistles, and has developed a VERY nasal quality to her singing.
Her whistle tone is definitely stronger than ever, I'm used to it sounding more airy than more powerful like it sounds here. I can't @ her being able to whistle for a good 4 minutes straight tho, BEYOND INCREDIBLE! I could never!!!!

F7, at one point it may have peaked at F#7. But F7 for sure Earnest .

Being a Mariah fan introduced me to the whistle register, and I'm always intrigued by anyone past and present who can do it. This has got to be one of my favorite. Chante is one of the few that can maintain melisma in any part of her range. Thanks for posting this video!

If I was told to hit a F7, it would be a domestic violence to my throat lol. As a soprano who can hit a whistle note only as high as G6, I don't think I can only sing in a whistle note for 4-7 minutes.

Singers from earlier generations are just easier on the ears. It's something smoother and more angelic about the voice. This song is older than me and she sang me to higher heights... Without doing too much or being over dramatic. Even at the end.. It was something so sweet about it.
