Thank you for posting this! Eurasien are still not very common I’ve been waiting to find a video like yours that simply talks about the breed in general :)
I’ve been torn between a Samoyed and a Eurasier for so long but one big thing for me is cuddles! I am glad you said Eurasiers aren’t a cuddly breed. This is important.
Hi, we own a male eurasier too! Such a great dog, ours is called Balou; he is the best dog we could have wishes for and a amazing part off the family. He is sensitive so training works well by focus on positive(sorry i'm from Holland so english is not my natie language). I do need to mention Eurasiers are not always the best for first time dog owners cause it is necessary to train them well. Offcource this varies from dog to dog also. Our Balou is territorial and protective over "his" people by nature. Its very good that you did socialise from a young age, cause they can be grumpy with other dogs, but they should not bite other dogs, they can be very clear in who they like or don't like. Also we (still)need to introduce new visistors to our home cause he is a very good watchdog that will guard his home. We don't mind him telling us someone approaching our house, that said; it is important to clearly let him know who decides what goes. I'm just pointing out what to keep in mind when making the decision to choose for a Eurasier breed. Are you able to put in the time its an amazing good dog. We have Balou now for 5years and we can't imagine him not being around; it's such a loving dog to us; alwasy so happy to spend time with the family. Tip: try to put bardo in a other room, tell him to wait, close the door if needed, then hide pieces of his favorite treats around for example the living. And let him search; Balou loves this, and he is a great treasure Hunter cause he always gets them all!😁👍🏻
Everything you said about Bardo seems typical of the breed, from not barking a lot to not being super friendly at first with strangers to being picky eaters to changing coat colors as they grow and their hallmark, being super devoted to you. 👍👍
Hi! I really appreciate that you took the time to make this video. There is not a lot of info about this breed but one of the most beautiful ones at that. Really like to see more! Cheers :)
Just got the news that my breeder will have a puppy for us this year. We've been on a waiting list since october 2019 and I honestly thought we were going to have one in 2022 because there was a two-year waiting list. I haven't stopped crying since I got the news! It's the best holiday present I could have gotten and I can't wait to meet our little baby Eurasier in 2021😭
I have a samoyede/malamute which is pretty similar. Its the most chill dog Ive ever had. He loves the ducks and swans in the park. He loves children when at walks and are generally just a big fluffy curious furball with a very stubborn personality. And very much a packdog. He follows me everywhere.
Hi! Thank you so much for posting this. I wanted to know more about their temperament, but I hear my rescue is HIGHLY active. I don't know. I guess I'll find out soon!
My dog looked exactly like yours!! And my Yogi bear did like to cuddle. We would sleep in the same bed. He was a big baby 😅 lol. Such great memories with him 🥺😢 he passed a way from old age (had arthritis) I miss him so much! Yogi bear please come back 😭😭😭😭😭
Aw I’m sorry for your loss. It’s pretty rare for a Eurasier to be adopted as they are very desirable and you have to get them through a reputable breeder. I would do a google search to see the breeders in your area.
@@bardotheeurasier1208 yes eurasiers are not supposed to be availible to adopt, it's a healty breed because they are bred with care and love, if a family cant take care off their eurasier the breeder or eurasierclub in its country always has a waitinglist off people who love to have a Eurasier. So best chance is to get in touch and on such a waiting list.
Thanks for making this video. Glad eurasiers are getting the love they deserve lol, they are my favorite dog breed! Ps I love your sweater, where is it from?
Interesting that you say most Eurasiers don't like to cuddle, my male eurasier loves to cuddle and will even lay in my lap lol when I sit in the couch, super contact seeking towards those he is close to. Although pretty reserved towards strangers and doesn't like to be touched by people he doesn't know. I guess each individual can become a bit different from the other even within a breed and how you raise/train them makes a difference too I guess.
I've been wanting a Eurasier for decades. They were impossible to find in the US back then. Finally I'm almost ready to get on a waiting list for one of the handful of breeders in the US now. Living in the midwest, I was definitely leaning towards Exquisite Euraisers, but I came across several people who implied they were a puppy mill and others who got their dogs there but had trouble with their financial transactions. Have you had any issues or problems with your dogs health? Would you recommend them?
greetings from Denmark... He looks exactly like our Eurasier dog "Amu-John" who is 15 years old and still going strong :-) and we are looking forward to getting our new puppy in just 8 weeks :-) Note about shedding: a "dogblower" is the best investment for an owner of an Eurasier!! Helps a lot with keeping the coat in perfect shape all year long, and helps with keeping a lot of the loose hair and dirt out of your house ... if you give them 3-4 minutes of blowing a day...:-) we give him a quick blow after each walk!
Oh wow that’s so awesome, enjoy your new pup! And aww I hope we get to enjoy 15 years with our Bardo! & I will def take a look into the dogblower sounds like a life saver. Thank you!
This video is very informative! I’m currently researching this dog breed and looking @ reputable breeders to contact in the future. I found in a website that they cost around $1500. Was this true for you when getting your dog or was it more or less expensive? Thank you!
He looks just like mine!! We named him Kodak. He was sold to us and they thought he was a chow and sharpae mix. He was not, at all. We think they stole him. They refused to show us his parents.😂
What about trainability? That's the biggest thing I can't find out about the Eurasier. Obviously the Chow and Samoyed aren't too huge on obedience or trick training, but I've seen Keeshond (same as Wolfspitz) trained in freestyle. Are Eurasiers okay with training or does it just not interest them at all?
They are very eager to please! We've done some basic training such as sit/stay and the like and he's caught on fairly quickly. I find that our Eurasier is very food motivated haha so that def helps but he does listen with just verbal commands. I follow some Eurasiers on instagram and have actually seen them do some pretty impressive tricks so I think they're fairly easy to train. Hope that helps =)
his dad works from home so he's rarely left alone haha but when we do leave him he's content in his crate (with the gate open) and he'll sometimes sit on the couch or we'll give him a bullystick
Sounds to me like your saying he likes to be close but not intrusive. I like that idea. Although I do have some people in my family that likes to have a dog in bed with them. I'm not sure how much is they like the extra heat and how much of it makes them feel secure. Personally I like a dog to be close but not jumping on me.
Thank you for the video! We read that Eurasiers tend to develop severe separation anxiety when being left alone for too long. We're not sure what 'too long' means exactly. Does Bardo have trouble being left alone at home? Like do we need to take an Eurasier with us everytime or can we leave him at home when we go grocery shopping? Thanks for sharing your experience!
A Eurasier can't be left for weeks in a pension. This is a crime. I know off such a example; this people left him with their parents, the dog stayed at the door and refused to eat for a week until they came back. It is possible to leave them with other familie or friends but you should make them a part off their life on regular base from a young age. A Eurasier will be the most loyal compagnon possible. That does not mean you cant train him to be alone. I've trained mine to stay home alone during the day if my business demands me to be out for 8-10hours(this does not happen much) its no problem, i do go out with him before and directly after. Also i will not leave him alone again on such a day. He does not destroy the house or cry. He knows i always come back. and he is waiting for my return by the door.
This video is spot on. It’s such a wonderful breed. I own one her name is Leia, an shes got so much personality and is just the most loyal and friendliest dog. She doesn’t like cuddles either but she loooooves to get pet, I just think she gets to hot.

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a Eurasier at some point and I'd like to know if they have a high prey drive. Thank you very much and kisses to Bardo, he's georgeous! Greetings from Luxembourg, Europe.
for my eurasier, it's a big no . He completely ignores the cat and only really chases birds and even that is rare. I do know some who chase squirrels and cats when outside but other than that they're very submissive with other animals
They are intended to have no prey drive as a breed. Ours was introduced to hunting squirrels young from my parents lab and she still is very interested in them specifically. My previous one was able to trap a mourning dove in the grass with his paws and he had no clue what to do with it and eventually he let it go to stop the noise. If you are looking to exercise the dog via chasing a ball they will chase it a few times then be disinterested. They would rather chase another dog chasing balls than the ball itself and they do not naturally catch things; you have to train them to catch at all.
Largely depends on your lifestyle and the amount of training and socialisation your willing to put in. They can be stubborn and if not properly socialised may become aggressive. This goes for most dogs but eurasiers wary nature makes this especially important. They will need loads of grooming and a moderate amount of exercise at least an hour a day to reduce destructive behaviour :).
Bardo was our first dog! Honestly, like the other comment suggest, it does depend on your lifestyle. We did a lot of work with him when we got him such as frequent socialisation not only with people but other dogs. He loves going outside (like any dog) so we try to take him out as often and as long as we can. Dogs in general can be high maintenance so I would just be aware of that. Also for Bardo, our contract states that we cant neuter till he's 2 years old for his health and bone development so just be prepared for that.

My Eurasier won't particularly come to me to give cuddles - he'll lie at (or more likely on) my feet and he'll happily take cuddles.
My Eurasian loves cuddles!! It's all about him getting used to it from early on.
Bardo’s cousin Maui enjoyed watching the video with me. He says hi.
