My friend recently tried to end her life and I didn’t know if she would survive and the last thing I said to her was ‘I’m sorry that I wasn’t always there for you. And you have to fight for your life because you’re stupid if you think we aren’t gonna care about you when you’re gone.’ She just sighed and walked away. Later that day she ignored everyone’s messages and we all honestly thought that she was gone. I cried for hours until I fell asleep. The next day when I saw her I ran up to her and promised to be with her forever.
I always hated thinking....but this reminded me how I'm afraid to grow old.

This song reminds me of my great grandparents. Irish and Scottish immigrants. They met on a ship and fell in love. If my math is right, they would have been married for 73 years by 2020. They were inseparable, always together, never once did I see them separated. My great grandmother Betty, or as we all called her, Nana, was stern, yet her words were always so soft and gentle. My great grandfather, John or Pop, who my little brother is named after, was always cracking jokes and smiling. Always smiling, even up until he died, he always smiled. They unfortunately passed away before meeting my youngest sibling, and seeing me go to high school. I truly miss them dearly, and I wish their light was still here. The two of them were and will always be special to me. I know somewhere they are watching me and my family, and I hope they’re proud of me. I am 47 years old and I have to admit: I never had a place where I truly felt at home and safe. There are just a few places where I lived.
I have got two kids now that are almost grown up. And both of my children told me, whereever they would go with me, they would feel at home, cause I AM their safe place. It is not about the ground, where we live, it is about being loved and unconditionally accepted.

Hi. It's 16.07.2023 and I'm feeling broken and I'm not anymore that girl who always have that good energy as usual. Life is unpredictable but you just keep going on and you just remind yourself that u are healthy and that's no better thing to be thankful for.
My mom is dying of stage 4 cancer... can you guys pray for us, especially her... I don't want to lose her....

Edit: Today is July 14th 2022. I want to thank everyone for their kind words. The past year and 8 months have been a whirlwind of hell. After my mom died, my husband left me. I guess he couldn't take how depressed I had gotten. He ended up cheating, so we parted ways. In December 2021, my dad died of a massive heart attack, and most recently, my brother who had just turned 28, commit suicide.
I'm 25. I've lost all of my immediate family. I was hoping that life might turn around after my mom died, but it just kept escalating.
When I commented on this video, I remember crying and feeling hopeless. The fact that people still comment on this to Check up on me or wish me well, makes me feel just a little less alone in the world.
Thank you everyone who has commented such nice things. I hope you're all doing well. Sending all my love. I wish there was a way I could thank each and every one of you.
Edit: Today is January 11, 2024. I’m 27 now. I was 23 when I submitted this comment. I’m laying on the couch wishing I could join them, listening to music to feel my emotions when this song came on. It made me think to come back and check the responses that I got/continue to get. Thank you everyone for showing so much love and support to a stranger. This is a reminder that grieving has no time limit, healing is not linear. I’m 27 and damaged more than ever. It’s okay to hurt and feel your emotions. Thank you again everyone for so much kindness.

Lost my mum to this tune , after hours of fighting I put this on and she immediately calmed , I knew she would love the words , it was her very last tune .she stopped fighting,calmed and listened . At the very end she reached out for someone I couldn’t see but I know it was my she left ,peacefully .

I want to tell you something when I have a rough time trying not to cut, I take a pen and draw on myself. I'll draw small designs and quotes that help me cope. Usually people hear a song and seek to match it to a feeling that has occurred in their life... but not many have found a song that puts their life into words, especially at as young of an age as I. Only 24 and feel I have lived a full and hard life already. Built a home for what I thought was the love of my life, and it was as if I was living a fairytale in the side of a misty mountain. Now I sit alone as those around me have moved on to better things than me, and what I could provide with my hands. The outside world will always win, sadly. Now we sit on opposite sides of that world.

This reminds me of a time, when we had to make some hard changes. This song was was a song of hope, reminding us we had one life to live, it gave us strength to weather the storm. We knew we had each other and ultimately that was more important than anything.

Gonna be moving out of my college dorm. My roommates were a blessing to me, their positivity helped me out a lot, even if I didn't show it often. Growing up around constant arguments in my household and lots of yelling didn't help. Going into an environment where everyone was cool with one another and being dedicated to reach our goals truly created a place of refuge. A lot of memories were made, it was sort of like a brotherhood. I've always been mad standoffish, but when I'm with them my life got a lot brighter. I hope all of them continue forward with bright futures and I'd like to stay in touch with em. If y'all ever read this, thank you for being the best damn roommates I could ask for. I don't think I have much longer. Everyday is harder than the last. Nothing gets better. I live in a past that was never real to begin with. I am so hopeless. Every bit of hope I have is dashed. All anyone does is use me as a stepping stone to where they really want to be. This song just gives me a feeling of finality and peace. Resolution.
It’s crazy how fast moment turns to memory, right? But at this point the memories I had as a child are turning into nothing. I’m forgetting them. When I think about my childhood, it doesn’t feel real. Like it never happened. The relationship I have with my family now is so different from how we used to be back in the days. Almost like my own father is a someone else. Time isn’t real.
I’ve been feeling the same for a while now. When I think of the memories that used to make me happy, they feel like something I watched on a movie, not real life that I was a part of. I thought I was going crazy. I really don’t even feel much of anything anymore.

The first time I heard this song I cried because my grandpa died 6 years ago, he was a my best friend, if I ever needed to talk to somebody he was always there, willing to talk to me, he was there when I was crying, he was there when I was happy. But the main reason why I really listen to this song is because it reminds me of him. This is one of my all time favorite songs because it reminds me of my grandpa/my best friend
This comment made me cry. You are so blessed to have had that bond with your grandfather. He sounds like he was a great man. I tell my kids all the time to spend as much time with their grandparents as possible, bc I didn’t have that growing up. That bond is something special and irreplaceable. One day they won’t be here, and we never know when that day will come.

This reminds me of all the times me and my cousin would sit in her room and listen to this song , she would just cry and explain all her problems to me and I would listen then we would laugh. Those were good memories. But she moved on and no longer needs me anymore. We where best friends our whole lives but she found a new best friend and looks like she has a lot more fun with them then she does with me. So I guess no more memories to be made. I wish she knew how much I treasured those moments 🥺🥀

When I hear this song I want to cry because I remember the most beautiful memories with everyone I care about.
Makes me sad, my dad grew up with a dad who didn't want to be a dad. Then died from drugs. And yet my dad is the best person in the world, and he's been going to work with the pandemic, going to sleep at almost midnight and waking up at 5 am. And I'm over here always on the computer and not spending time with him. :c Life isn't fair sometimes.
I know I'm 7 months late, but tell your dad you love him and tell him you appreciate everything he's done for you.

This reminds me of all the people that I thought I'd build a home with. The ones I though I'd marry, although I always said I don't believe in marriage, but for the right one, I would... and they all made me feel like I believed in it. This reminds me of all the times I though I had found 'the one', but right at this moment, I now know that the only person I should be looking for, is myself. And the only person I should never stop chasing, is the person I will be when I accomplish all the goals that I currently have.

This song reminds me of my grandma. She was the strongest person I knew. I always knew I'll had to say goodbye.. But now that I had to.. I feel so empty. She was such a big part of my life and I am so lost without her. Her life was so hard and painful but she somehow managed to survive everyday. I can only dream of being as strong as her. I am thankful for every moment we spend together, but I would also do anything to get those moments back, to get her back.

I found my home, and it was great, full of smiles and giggles and laughs and inside jokes, sometimes tears and vents but always warm, soft, secure, then covid hit, and my sweet loving home got it, and her heart wasn't strong enough for the stress and strain put on it, it has been a year now on Feb 9th that I had to stand in tears and say goodbye for the last time...a year since I said goodbye to all the plans we made together...I miss my home, I wish I would have held her one more time. Hug your home as much as you can, take pictures and videos, and screenshots of the inside jokes, save their gifts to you, love them and make it known to them that you love them because in a second everything can change, and it hurts like hell everyday after.
