Two different issues. This movement is about police practices and accountability. However, I think Reese is being willfully obtuse here. The folks concern trolling about "black on black" crime are mostly bad actors, this is very much the truth. They are trying to take attention away from systemic issues by engaging in personal blame gaming. That way, they don't have to feel complicit in a system if it's all about personal responsibility. However, the look of pain and hysteria on the faces of protesters tells me that the fear of dying at the hands of cops feels more "real" then it should, even with everything we know. The reality is that a young black man in America is significantly more likely to be murdered by a peer then by the police. Yet, the violence in black communities does not garner the same level of national unity and good faith energy as these police killings do. Why is that? It is also not true that the criminals are "brought to justice". If that were the case the violence wouldn't be as bad as it is. A good portion of the violence is "retaliatory" in nature. Additionally, many of the criminals are repeat violent offenders. Furthermore, they are protected by their mama's, grandmama's, baby mama's, friends who all know they're "involved in things" but either feel helpless or downplay how bad it really is. Every misdirected youth has an army of these enablers behind him. You can claim that community leaders are dedicated to these issue, but they aren't getting the same attention as BLM activists. If the media gave these activist the same level of attention as BLM we could name, shame, and hold accountable the criminals who ruin the lives of their brothers and sisters every single day.
You said it. You basically expanded Reese thoughts. It's a deeper more complex issue, that revolves around the accountability, media, and poverty. But easily misdirected and discounted when one deflects with the myth black on black crime...cause in all honesty people don't actually care...

Are movements chasing a paper cut instead of the spear in the side? Is it because it seems like the obvious low hanging fruit with an easier target to make movements compared to the harder problem with a target hard to pen down and more work less ye self be at risk of receiving that smoke. Othering is way easier to come at than to come at oneself. I imagine that ten fold in the collective. So hesitancy and resistance to ownership and large scale self examination seems inevitable. ownerships vs self preservation. Studies say that survival mode is natural. So maybe we might have to fight nature? There are people who make strides to solve both problems but the collective or what seems more appealing goes to what seems easier, quicker, and obvious. The practical solutions are neither. A person can change their life in a few years but the now seems more clear so the priority shifts from the long game to short term real easy. I fight that when I mentor but there is a death grip on the immediate bias and easier to say the world is the problem. It plays a role but so does the player.

We don't hear about Whites brutalized by police either. If we talk Blacks being brutalized by police because it's disproportionate... wouldn't we talk about Blacks committing a disproportionate amount of violent crime?
Very well said
It is two different issues one of which will eventually get solved the other which will never get solved

and then people in my neighborhood wants to know why i hold a grudge against other black people in my environment because of all the trauma and street fights i had in my life with neighborhood bullies and school bullies as well and 90 percent of them were black.The thing that bothers me is that its not just because i was bullied by other black kids in my environment my whole life but its also the fact that they say BLACK LIVES MATTER but yet at the same time you kill your own kind for no reason with drivebys, gang activity, chain snatching and other hateful crimes a lot of black people did to other black people and i dont want to be around that traumatic experience i had my whole life since early childhood im 22 and im AUTISTIC too which makes it worst for me .

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.
1) “My GOD, WHOM I praise,
do not remain silent,
2) because people who are wicked and deceitful
have opened their mouths against me;
they have spoken against me with lying tongues.
3) With words of hatred they surround me;
they attack me without cause.

5) They repay me evil for good,

6) Appoint someone evil to oppose my enemy;
let an accuser stand at his right hand.
7) When he is tried, let him be found guilty,
and may his prayers condemn him.
8 ) May his days be few;
may another take his place of leadership.
9) May his children be fatherless
and his wife a widow.
10) May his children be wandering beggars;
may they be driven from their ruined homes.
11) May a creditor seize all he has;
may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.
12) May no one extend kindness to him
or take pity on his fatherless children.
13) May his descendants be cut off,
their names blotted out from the next generation.
14) May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD;
may the sin of his mother never be blotted out.
15) May their sins always remain before The LORD,
that HE may blot out their name from the earth.
16) Because he never thought of doing a kindness,
but hounded to death the poor
and the needy and the brokenhearted.
17) He loved to pronounce a curse-
may it come back on him.
He found no pleasure in blessing-
may it be far from him.
18 ) He wore cursing as his garment;
it entered into his body like water,
into his bones like oil.

Summary:
The 'race gap' in the commission of violent crime has narrowed substantially yet persists, with murder arrest rates for African Americans out-distancing those for whites -- concludes a new 80-city study. While the gap was cut more than half in the 1970s, it re-grew in the '80s. The researchers find it most pronounced in communities with higher divorce, unemployment and drugs rates.

One thing activists miss in shining a light on police use of lethal force against black people is police use of nonlethal violence against Blacks. This not only happens more often than police use lethal force, it happens more often than police use of nonlethal force against whites.
Police use of nonlethal force - everything from unnecessary rough handling during a Terry stop to serious beatings with fists, feet and t-batons - so often that it has become integrated into the language of interactions with Blacks.
This is something you hardly ever hear mentioned by Blacks or whites.
