I read some comments below, it seems that the previous owner cared about their pet. Maybe they got into some unfortunate events and lost a home or something. Probably why they left it with a note. Glad he is in good hands now!

I adopted four budgies, they were living in a dirty cage and they didn't have any toys that's sad now I put them toys and swings and they are happy now and they make a lot of noise😍💜
I'm on my 3rd rescue budgie..2 were found outside ( different years) 1 was given to me due to not having time for her..they're my sweet babies

This is a good lesson for life - when one person abandons us it may feel like the end of our world. But it’s often a blessing in disguise so that we can meet someone who can actually give us the love that we deserve. The previous owner may have loved the bird, but he’ll be much more well taken care of with you.

I love my canary Chopin. He has a flight cage that's like 10 x the size of that one he came in. And he has free flight in a bird room. He has toys etc. I hate it when people get canaries and treat them as an ornament. Chopin loves chop, greens and bathing.

Yay, Donna. Here you are once again coming to the rescue. It's sad that someone left this bird at a nursing home, but it's better than if they let it loose to fly away; it never would have survived. He wasn't having a good life in that little, poorly equipped cage, but now you will make that better. His sounds are so nice already. Looking forward to when he can join the other birds. Oh, by the way, Daisy, Oasis, and Buddy the Angelfish look great also.

Last night a yellow Fife Canary I believe showed up at our doorstep and started looking inside. I think he was cold and hungry, not sure how he got out or what happened. But he came right in when I opened the door and we had some bird seed and he started eating. I bought him a cage and will let him out inside to fly around daily. Thanks for all of your helpful tips on your videos regarding canaries! 😊

@@rhondavroman5191 thank you, I have 6 budgies/parakeets (I’m Australian so I call them their real name) and I must admit they are very flighty and don’t sit still but they are the best. I also just finished taming my cockatiel.

Hi Donna,i love your new little family member.Thank God the former owner brought him to that home and they called you.What a lucky very fortunate little sunny canary. Iam glad he okay , forbthe most part and that hes in such good hands.He seems right at home .Iam so glad he wasn’t left in the street.🙏I bought my parents a canary light yrs ago.He lived for 12 yrs. My parents named him Caruso .He was in a small cage but he was out all day and fed the best food we knew of at that time.My dad would put a grape on his head and he would fly to my dad and eat the little green seedless grape.So glad he found his way to you.Bye for now hugs for him🤗💝❤️

Bless you for all you do for so many birds. I'm caring for a baby house finch that's nest was attacked by a crow. This bird survived and is ok but the other baby birds
got killed. My neighbor rescued him and she works gave him to me when he was 12 days old.
This is day 33 and baby bird is doing well. At first I was feeding him every hour or two for 15 hours a day and keeping him warm and clean in a little box inside a small cage. I think he is about 33 days old today. A week ago I put him in a large budgie cage with
seeds and greens which he pecks at and eats a little of-but he still wants to be fed. So I still feed him 7-8 times day.
I let him fly free each day for 2-3 hours in a room.
People on FB said I should have taken it to a bird rehabber. I know it is illegal to keep him but I am afraid he will not survive if I release him now. Can I buy a society finch from the pet store so this wild house finch can have a friend?
Another you tuber hold me that a canary is better companion for this wild hand raised house finch than a society finch.
What do you think? Yet another RUclipsr said canaries are solitary birds so I am confused.
Hi, thanks for helping the Finch. It is better to take to a rehabber. They can house in large aviary with same species and release when he is ready.
I wouldn't get another bird. Wild birds carry various diseases and can spread to pet birds. You would have to get fecal and blood tests to make sure its healthy and possibly deworm.

Honestly, if you are needing to get rid of any pet, put the thing on craigslist at least for free. I can guarentee it gets picked up the same day.

poor baby he will have a much happier life with you and your flock ❣. once the waste collector came to our door and gave us a budgie that was probably flown away or got flown by the storm a day before. said they found it flapping scared near some bins and brought it to us coz they knew we have parrots. we took it in kept in our home for a week so we can ask around if someone wants to take back but no response. after a week we found it a new home where they had same budgies as him and he lives with them now in a huge cage

I prefer to leave the band unless there is a problem . I am grateful that the band was on the bird as now I know his age. Bands can helpful in some situations. I will make a video about bands. I have removed some from my birds for various reasons

Hi, Google canary breeders in your area. Search bird rescues or ask at pet stores. Look on your local classifieds as sometimes breeders post there or someone may be rehoming one. Join a canary group on Facebook and ask there.

many people are trash who view these poor birds (or other helpless animals) as a piece of interior decoration or a toy. they keep them in bad conditions, they don't give them attention or love. I sincerely and from the bottom of my heart wish all the worst to such people. breeders are part of the problem because their interest is to sell, so they rarely pay attention to who they sell the animals to.
Agree with you.
People scarcely have empathy for other humans much less non-humans. We all experience the same emotions and many of the same desires.
They see them as some lower being though and don't think they need the same things we do.

Nice names as some of my previous birds were called Shimmer, she was a canary. I had a budgie named Sapphire and a Budgie named Sparkles. I also had a canary named Song. Songer is a cute name. Thanks for the suggestions, I will add them to my list.

Just to let you know the breeder band on the leg shows gender(left leg for female, right for male).
I can't understand why some people just keep their canaries locked in a cage all the time. my two birds fly lower level of my house.
Better education in school about pets and animal welfare in general is sorely needed. This is where it tends to start. Pets kept in classrooms are a prime example of neglect, mistreatment and poor care. Guess where kids learn things? Those same kids deide they want a pet now, and will emulate the same care they learned at school. These same kids grow up into adults, and think this way of treatment is ok.
Pet stores are also to blame for this sort of thing, They never fully give pet owners the true experiance of owning a bird, (most pet stores) THEY KEEP BIRDS BEHIND SOUND PROOF GLASS! Most people have 0 clue about just how loud some species are, or how frequient they make noises. Pet stores also give you 0 info about a species, basic info like proper diet, cage size, and lifespan of the species should be manditory information given. Most pets are baught on impulse. If they did something basic like, I dunno, put a touch screen under each species they are selling with a quick tutorial (like under 30 seconds, cause the world is lacking attention spans now) on said species it would improve the lives of a ton of mistreated animals.
I over heard pet store employees giving wrong information. I talk to the customer once they employee leaves to educate them better. Yesterday an employee said to a customer to spray their birds with water if they are naughty or fight. That's so wrong as it may make them be afraid to be misted for their bath. I heard them say feed them this seed or pellet and nothing else. Uggg
That's a great point about classroom pets.
His food bowl is so gross. I tip out the old seed and put fresh seed in with my budgies everyday.
