@@richardbehan8118 Of course. We are in the "make up any trade rumour you like" period of the season. Trust me, this will disappear soon as we get close to actual trade season. WC are not giving Harley Reid up unless Essendon send them Durham, Caldwell and Caddy in return which isn't going to happen. Actually, probably not even then. He's apparently happy at WC and in no hurry to come home. I say this as a Bomber's fan too. Teams will be asked to give up the farm for Reid so no deal will be done.

While I do agree to somewhat the game is generating record income which is why the salary cap keeps increasing. You can't complain they get too much if you watch them since your contributing to them getting paid.

They had some left over in their war chest last year and front ended McKay's contract. Plus salary cap increases this year. Sheils contract ends this year. They can do it. Would leave them with little room to manoeuvre and would have to give up a bit. Reid would be interested, as essendons list will be strong for several years, without bringing much more in. Don't know if one excellent player or 5 pretty good ones over the next couple of years is better though

Look, he's a great player. But realistically he needs to prove himself a fair bit more over time to warrant that kind of money. When he shows he can virtually win games by himself.
Bombers don't need him. With a midfield that they say Darcy Parish will struggle to make it back into. I think they are fine. Not saying its not a massive pickup, but a waste of money. Bring in a key defender worth much less for more return.
