    Hey Dylan, Saints fan here. There's absolutely no way that Ross and SOS would take Trainor ahead of Sam Lalor in this scenario. Pretty sure that in the last week or so, we've even met with/spoken to Lalor and we really like him. With the way you described him, coupled with our extreme desperation for this type of player, I'm surprised you went with Trainor haha. If we received a 1st round compensation pick for Battle, then using it on Trainor would be likely, but we're definitely walking away with the best available midfielder with our first pick

    Great job !
    Saints fan so I’m praying for midfield depth, Lalor , Draper would be a dream and hopefully Murphy Reid with later pick.

      Yeah, I think I’m regretting my decision of Trainor to saints would go lalor if I had my time again! Will do another closer to draft! Think lalor and FOS will come home strong

    Love your video! Just a couple of questions.
    1. How far off is FOS returning from his injury? Possibly next Vic Country game?
    2. If Richmond ended up with the 1st pick would we stay with Jagga Smith or pick a Smillie? Or even possibly spilt the pick into two top 10 picks?

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  4 дня назад +1

      Thanks for the comment! Last I heard FOS should be available for the VIC Metro/Vic country game, which is the final game.
      Given Richmond have Taranto and Hopper, they’re both pushing 190cm, Richmond would be inclined to split it, think I have to go after Gold coast’s first rounder. Think the perfect situation for tigers is to end up with one of FOS/Smith/Lalor at least, and then if they have another pick inside the top 10/15, could take a Moraes for silk or a key position player, maybe a Whitlock twin. Richmond is tough cause they could end up with multiple first rounders if Rioli or Baker leave too! Think it’s a good draft to maximise multiple picks.

    Great knowledge on players but to do a proper phantom draft you need to recognise the impact of matching bids. GC to match bid for pick 6 will mean they lose pick 8

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  День назад

      Hey mate, GC have picks 7 and 8 so matching the bid at pick 6 will they’ll lose only one of those. In my vid, I predicted them to trade one of those picks to Richmond, leaving them with only pick 6.

  • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
    @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  4 дня назад

    Yeah that’s fair! I had some trouble with the saints as they’re sitting in just after the main group of mids. Lalor makes sense for them for sure! I think if West coast take Trainor they’ll definitely go for FOS! There’s also a lot of talk around Trainor being a big bodied mid so not sure if that moves the needle at all.

    • @TNT_12
      @TNT_12 4 дня назад

      FOS would be a dream pick too! I think with Lalor, the other thing that would appeal to Ross is his strong tackling/defensive game. Ross would get stars in his eyes watching that haha

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  4 дня назад +1

      Haha yeah! FOS and Lalor are both steals imo, haven’t played enough footy to create the hype but potentially could go past Smith and Smillie in a couple of years.

    Interesting decisions for the Swans given that they have McLean who is 25 already as the secondary ruck and also have Green who has a really nice progression plan in the VFL that seems to not be burning him out. Most Swans fans on forums (and yes i realise its hard to do a Phantom draft with all of the matches) think that our picks will be around 23-25 and players like Langford Travaglia or Murphy could be guys that we take to give us a backup to Hayward who hasn't had a direct backup since Thurlow in 2020. Also have to factor in that this is Sydney we are talking about and they do crazy stuff on draft nights

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  4 дня назад +1

      Yeah, Sydney was tough, I found it hard to place Jack Whitlock. He’s too good to be outside top 20 but then there’s a lot of teams who want to take advantage of the deep midfield crop! At some point Whitlock will just get taken if he’s still there. Think Murphy is a good shout and I didn’t even consider the Hayward situation. it’s hard to know what Sydney actually need cause they feel very well balanced!

    • @kybroome
      @kybroome 4 дня назад

      @@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft Yep with Cochran coming in I don't think we go another KPD given Edwards and Snell's development. Midfield and Wings are totally solved to the point we may offload in the trade period. Ruck line is solved for atleast the next 4-6 years. So it kinda leaves mediums in both the defence and the forward line given Cunningham and Fox are getting close to retiring and also no backup to Hayward in the last 4 years other than HHK who was never going to get a game realistically. Also need to factor in a little that the Swans have Max King & Noah Chamberlin in the 2025 draft.

    Hey Dylan - on the same idea in comparing last year to this year how would you rank the following:
    McKercher (2023)
    Duursma (2023)
    Sanders (2023)
    Smile (2024)
    Jagga Smith (2024)
    O’Sullivan (2024)
    Interested to get your thoughts? Thanks

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  2 дня назад

      1. FOS (only saw him play once but it was great)
      2. McKercher (love his kicking)
      3. Jagga Smith
      4. Smillie
      5. Sanders
      6. Duursma
      Tougher exercise, because they’re quite different! Feels harsh on Durs cause he hasn’t had much time. I think they’re all pretty great tbf 😂

    • @marcustanti535
      @marcustanti535 2 дня назад

      @@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft thanks mate. Yeah Duursma is an interesting one. He’s had flashes of being really good this year but his overall output has been down. Is be keen to see north vary up his play to get his confidence up. Maybe try his at half back or on a wing. Very had position to come in and play being a half forward in a bottom team.

    Hi Dylan - another one. How would you rank the following tall players from last years draft and this years draft:
    Curtin 2023
    O’sulivan 2023
    Whitlock 2024
    Trainor 2024
    O’Farrel 2024
    Jack Whitlock 2024
    Thoughts?

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  2 дня назад

      Ohh good question:
      1. Trainor
      2. Curtin (reckon he’ll be a mid though)
      3. Matt Whitlock
      4. O’Sullivan
      5. O’farrell

  • @marcustanti535
    @marcustanti535 2 дня назад

    Hi Dylan - north fan here. Out of the top 3 being Smile, Smith and O’Sullivan who do you think has the most versatility? Ie be good at a half back, wing or half forward? I think north has changed is recruiting strategy since 2021 (mistake made in 2020) where they are going for talent rather than needs but at the same time they just don’t need another one dimensional midfielder.

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  2 дня назад

      Hey mate! Yeah I’d definitely say it’s Smillie! He’s played Centre bounce mid, full forward and even half back. He’s a really big body, tall and frame wise and very dexterous at ground level for his size.
      Especially Jagga, I don’t see playing anywhere else other than midfield. O’Sullivan probably that mid fwd type player, like a petracca. But Smillie def the one that has shown most versatility.
      The question would be is O’Sullivan just better footballer overall than Smillie…

    • @marcustanti535
      @marcustanti535 2 дня назад

      @@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft yeah I think it’s a wait and see. I could also see GC getting ahead of their bid as well and maybe trading their 2 first rounds to north for pick 1 or 2? What do you think?

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  2 дня назад

      @@marcustanti535 yep! Although I think the Goldcoast will be chasing points for next year more so than this year. They have Zeke Uwland who looks like serious player in next year’s draft. I think every club will be trying to multiply picks inside the top 20 this year though, so will be tough to get a deal done.

  • @bacillus5
    @bacillus5 4 дня назад

    Swans have shown you need mids that can kick goals. The old school forward is some what going away with SHockings rule changes. So I reckon Tigers should go for Finn as he is more of a complete midfielder

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  4 дня назад +1

      Yep! FOS is definitely that forward of centre midfielder, looks to have more power. That’s my only issue with Jagga, he sort of has that Nick Daicos like reaction speed to the ground ball but Daicos goes fwd and kicks goals Jagga doesn’t at this stage.

    West Coast won’t take Trainor. One thing WC don’t do is take KPDs with top 20 picks historically. They’ll look at a midfielder for sure, and either of FOS or Draper would be perfect with the power, size and speed of Reid, Hewett and Ginbey.

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  4 дня назад +1

      Yep! I think Trainor is potentially an outlier because of his midfield capabilities and level of talent. The midfield mix conversation is interesting, my thoughts were west coast would look for a more surgical player to balance out the power of the Reid and Ginbey types. Reid really saves you there because his power doesn’t come at the expense of agility. I think FOS makes the most sense overall.

    Do you think Finn is better than Simillie?

    • @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
      @DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft  4 дня назад

      It’s a good question! I think if Smillie wasn’t 194cm he wouldn’t be number 1, so I’d take FOS on talent. I worry about some of Smillie’s midfield fundamentals being that tall, ground ball stuff for example. I think FOS is probably the best player in the draft.

      @@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft FOS is the best player in the draft, so it's got me fucked why you have Richmond picking Smith. Because he trained with them??? FOS has plenty of runs on the board, he was AA last year.
