This is what I learned years ago from chefs about plastic cutting boards vs. wooden cutting boards: Plastic boards are for raw meats as they can be sterilized. However, wooden boards cannot be sterilized so they're for cooked meats and vegetables (raw and cooked).
I like upgrades that are both practical and attractive. The cutting board is so pretty sitting on the counter. I do love my Epicureans, though. And the new lighting is warm and cozy, rather than harsh and utilitarian, what a difference! Nice choice. As a small business owner I really appreciate you trying to buy things locally. Had a giggle over the comment about how you were sure people would let us know what you were doing "wrong" with the glue.
Never underestimate the power of light to make a cozy inviting environment. I am a sucker for different types and varieties of lighting options from colored Luci lights, magnetic LEDS, battery operated curtain lights. I have even put small led lights under the seats in the cab of the van. I just found some magnetic motion lights for the van exterior when stationary that are added to my equipment wish list.
I like watching your videos because it’s relaxing this world is going crazy so many wars and crimes it’s overwhelming it’s nice to take a break from it all
The red color is good to use befor bed or in the middle of the night, as it does not wake you up completly, thus you fall asleep quicker again. As a bonus its less visible from afar.
12:44 certain colors don’t attract mosquitoes and/or flying insects as much so the colors may come in handy if you keep your doors open in warmer weather.

fingers crossed your van will still last a while but on the other hand i would love to see you building a new van, especially with your 8 years of experience living in a van... keep it up Scott! greets from europe
Hats off to you man. I could never live in something that small, but I could in a about 20' RV. I had a 24' but now my plan is for a 20' to travel in. I tried a van trip to Florida and that is when I knew it wouldn't work for me. To each their own. Subscribed & Liked. :)
Like so very much your new cutting board. It is so stylish!! As far as the lighting it gives such a delightful comforting feel to your living space. Something that has amazed me for quite a long while is how just doing a small improvement rather gives often such a grand feel... You did really neat. Sweet new lighting shown on this Eclipse day!
I like the idea of putting magnets into a cutting board as feet. My counter isn’t steel, but if I did that I could put the board on side wall of the van when I want it out of way. On lighting I have an ancient Luci Light that has a softer orange & blue in the non-bright lighting mode that provides just enough light when not doing detailed tasks.
Thanks for being my companion while folding laundry today! Love your videos, Static! I'm with ya on the "don't really care how it looks - it's all about function" - like my window exhaust fans :D
@@StaticCamperVan Ha ha - but I don't mind laundry at all - especially right now when I can do it in my own machines yet. I know that will be a thing of the past soon once I head out 9/1. PS. Ohhh Scott´s tiny home has now a rrrrromantic mode. Great job, looks very good. Specially for early morning or late evening its nice to have a more soft lighting to slowly reboot or wind down.
Hello Scott I don't like bright lights either. Big improvement there! And the cutting board is great too... Good thinking to secure it down. Happy dreams Scott ❤
I was shopping, saw Yellow Bird and based on your complete love for it I just had to try it. Flavor great but omg, instant mouth burn! Way…….too hot for me. And, I even bought the kinda hot one made with Serrano’s. Guess I’ll stick with my real mild salsa’s. LOL.

Hi. I just stumbled across your channel i guess you call it today. I am definitely subscribing particularly for ideas on easy, healthy meals! Excellent video scott I wish they had light strips back in the day when I had my van 40 years ago it would have been perfect have a awesome day here from Ontario Canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😎
Love the new lighting! 👍🏻 Very nice! 🤩 The contact cement reminds me of the rubber cement we used in grade school…although I know they aren’t the same thing.
Perhaps I would use the word detailed for your style. And that’s perfect. I could easily follow your instructions and apply the skills to any number of similar projects! And you completed them! Personally, I’m a horrible finisher. Lol 😂 Comparison is the thief of joy. I hope you get some great compliments for your video work on this one!
I have at least a dozen projects, so many I dont know where to start. Every morning i pick one. Every evening i say there's always tomorrow. Of course one of these days i wont have any tomorrows left.
Hello Scott, Very good content. Completing projects does elevate ones mood and that makes a difference in so many other elements of your life. I'm working on detailing the van. It just needs a bit of TLC. Like you I want what I have to last a lot longer. Pride of ownership and making small things more user friendly is satisfying. I am going to improve the lighting with touch lights or remote control. I have several cutting boards and love the easy consistent surface they provide for prepping. Thanks for the instructions. Your the best! ❤
That update hit the spot! The lighting - can sure see how that is a gentler option. I was a fan of contact cement when I was younger, didn't know it was still around. I'll have to look for it the next time I need to stick up something in the van. The olive wood board is a handsome addition. Guess what I appreciated most this time - just your own commitment to what works well, instead of what's strictly "beautiful". It's giving me a chance to think about how I choose to adjust and augment my own van space. Tks!
I like when your inside the van on rainy days scott working on projects or cooking a cheeseburger on sourdough. Do you sleep with any type of night light? Thanks for sharing

Yeah that white task lighting is great when working on something but reminds me of being at work, it's so industrial or institutional, yuck. I use an led lamp at home but I bought a nice warm light led bulb and it really does help put me in a better mood. Looks good in your van too. 🙂
I like your upgrades. You did good. That other light might have given me a headache. It was operating room bright. Lol. I never watch you that I don't learn something. Especially about nutrition. Hope you didn't drink too much of that contact glue 🤭 looks great btw! I am motivated to do some modifications to my van as it is raining here also today (when I've finished my coffee) Toni
I have the same lights in my van & it’s great I agree with you about the different glues that are on the market as I’m tired of buying glues that don’t work properly I have never heard of contact cement before but I’m going to invest in it if I can buy it & I’ll stick with contact cement thanks for sharing your tips
