Actually, I can think of one use for the pointless level in super mario land 2. Back when I was a child and very bad at the game, I would use that level to farm lives and coins in order to avoid getting to 0 lives. There's probably a better place to do that too but this level felt like a safe place for child me to do so.
Funny story: For 6-Ghost House, I never found the level’s regular exit due to it’s immense mazey nature. I always ended up finding the secret exit instead. It wasn’t until I got a Player’s Guide that I finally found the normal exit and unlocked World 6-2.
If you someone doesn't understand why the Pachinkon Machine in Mario Sunshine is really bad, basically, it's really buggy, trying to get the red coins on the left is painful because for some reason, the game will keep pulling you to the right until you reach the middle. This is annoying because it's basically RNG whether you get the coins, or fall to your death
Eh, I disagree with Bros 3, World, and Galaxy 2. In 3, the first fortress in World 3 was nearly more unbearable than 7-1. In World, the answer is easily Tubular (although I admit, I hate Forest Secret Area a lot more but I feel like that's more of a personal opinion?) Flipsville Galaxy wasn't my favorite but I wouldn't call it awful. Clockwork Ruins was SO much worse. It was so uninteresting and booooorring.
I loved the forest of illusions level, especially the first one where you can use the star and get tons of lives then quit the level, repeat, unlimited lives. its only annoying for people who never played the game and aren't aware that each of those levels requires a secret exit to move to the next level without going in a loop
I enjoyed your video and agreed with most of the levels you discussed. Some levels had some weird decisions made on the designs, and some were a bit too difficult. The Pacheco level in Super Mario Sunshine was a nightmare during my childhood. I always got frustrated trying to beat it for many years. Kind of strange that Nintendo just left it with so many glitches, as it just ruins the level's experience. It's funny that you said Wet Dry World in Super Mario 64 was boring because it was my favorite when I was little. I loved the water-raising mechanic and remember constantly activating the water level switches to raise the water as high as possible. I also loved the secret city underneath the level, but reaching the pink bomb-omb to activate the cannon was frustrating, which was the only way to get there.
Yeah I would have easily chose Dire Dire Docks over Wet Dry World. Wet Dry World was a water level done right. Dire Dire Docks is a very boring and repetitive stage and none of the stars I really enjoyed getting.
I just don’t agree AT ALL with that 3D world one. I actually liked getting the feeling that I can cheese all the multi-mario platforms, if you had to get any stage, pick one of those enemy blockades, or if you only want real levels, pick the dark underwater level from bowser’s world!
Came here to say that. I HAAAATED that level as a kid. Though I discovered the secret as an adult. You can legit use a blue yoshi to beat it. It's a lot easier than I ever thought. Still the worst in the game though
@@blinkowarner3117 I've personally never had any issue with it, even on the GBA version, which has less screen resolution and thus less visibility. You'll pick up the next P-Balloon before the previous one even starts to wear off. Maybe people were just being impatient while dodging and taking unnecessary risk?
I think the difficulty on that level is kinda overrated. I don't like Mario World and I found out that people say Tubular it's the hardest level, so, when I was 14 more or less, I only played it to unlock tubular. 1:21 I disagree with you on the lost levels. The fact is I've literally never had issue trying to land after launching myself with the green springs. I land successfully every time and very very often land on the very next spring and keep my speed up as I go across. I don't know why so many people have difficulty with 7-3 and c-3. They are really easy levels. I think the worst level despite how worthy of a challenge it is might actually be a 8-4 because of a stupid jump you have to do to get into a pipe without falling down although it's not that hard, but then there's that part where there's the green flying paratroopa and the red flying paratrooper and if you don't jump correctly you totally miss and you just die in the lava. Now granted if you just run it full sprint and just jump at the right time you'll be fine but still it's annoying. 8-2 might be a good candidate as well because it's initially not obvious where you're supposed to go since you have to hit a certain block to get a beanstalk to come out so you can go up, but when you see that red paratrooper underneath that block you do get the idea that yeah you should try to hit that one but then hopefully you don't end up bouncing the wrong way and you just fall down to your death after you hit it
Snow drop Galaxy is so underrated in difficulty. You have to move the snow put of the way with your cursor, something which the game never teaches you. And then you have figure out a strategy to catch them. Such as trapping them in the hole with the fire flower
In my opinion in mario 64 / mario 64 ds, the worst level is jolly roger bay (the eel is kinda just there and its creepy, and what was the last time it actually attacked someone, the 100 coins star is cancer, i would only come to the level if that was the last level i havent visited)
For SMB Lost Levels, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the glitch where the spring can just not appear if there’s too many sprites on screen (not helped by Lakitu throwing spinies out), or the checkpoint that places you directly over a chasm.
Honorable mentions: SMB1: 2-3 and it's world 6 counterpart SMBTLL: 7-3 SMB3: 8-1 SM64: Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride Super Mario Galaxy: Grand Finale Galaxy Super Mario Galaxy 2: Battle Belt Galaxy NSMBU: Don't. Touch. Anything. SM3DL: All spinning platform airship levels SM3DW: Hammerhead Reef
I would have replaced Wet Dry World from Super Mario 64 with Dire Dire Docks. I think Wet Dry World is the most interesting water stage in the game, but Dire Dire Docks is the worst. That level is far more boring and I hate how you have to go through that underwater tunnel for pretty much the majority of the stars. It's not fun and is very boring. Not to mention the 100 coin star is one of the worst 100 coin stars in the whole game.
the lillie pad level in Mario sunshine is worse since you have to escort Yoshi across the sea, if you touch the water Yoshi dies, if he doesn't eat a fruit for a long time he will starve. when you finally get there you have to make him vomit to get rid of the goop blocking the pipe. then if you game over in the VERY DIFFICULT level (i'm pretty sure) it sends you back to Delphino plaza and you have to do it all over again
1:05 an even harder version is 7-3 on SMB Lost Levels, on SMB Deluxe! it is basically C-3 without Lakitu, but instead there is something worse, THE GROUND IS OFFSCREEN FOR MOST OF THE LEVEL!!
idk, I feel like Rainbow Ride might be worse than Wet-Dry World. All the waiting on magic carpets... I didn't even feel like playing it last time I went through Mario 64...
My least favorite Mario level of all time is Cosmic Cannon Cluster in 3d world. (i havent played that many mario games to be fair) but that level made me stop playing it on the wii u, and even on the switch i had trouble. its so frustrating for no reason, the other levels in the game haven't been that bad for me till then.
I personally disagree with Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2, though I can agree with Snowcap Galaxy being one of the more mediocre levels in 1. For me, my least favorite in Galaxy 1 is easily Dreadnought's Purple Coins or the Star Ball level in Melty Molten Galaxy. Galaxy 2 was significantly harder cause that game has some genuinely amazing stages, but I would Stone Cyclone Galaxy is my least favorite for it being a rehash of Beach Bowl Galaxy's Fast Foe Comet, just with Silver Stars.
I'm playing through 3D World for the first time and this level "Grumblump Inferno" is ridiculous. I guess it's technically world 9-7 but idk what the "secret" Bowser world is called. I really wish the world with the Dragon fight in M.O. was a full world. It looked so good. 2:50 I've never played any of the Mario Land games but I made a level just like that in Mario Maker 2 using Lemmy to put bouncy balls on spikes.
Pachinko isn't RNG related iirc, I've seen speedrunners tell me its dependent on your input where Mario goes, and yeah I've done it casually with the inputs and it surprisingly works
The problem w the wet/dry world (which is my pic for this list for mario 64)... is for a VERYYYYY.... different reason. Ive seen... things... iceberg things.... for wet/dry land...
Worst level in 64 is Lethal Lava Land. A bunch of random stuff strewn around a completely flat area and a stupid little mini-golf "volcano" instead of a real mountain like EVERY OTHER LEVEL IN THE GAME has. It's better inside the volcano but still weak. Shell surfing isn't enough to save it outside. I get the strong sense that they just threw it together at the last minute.
I came to like level 7-1 in SM3 after redoing the level repeatedly to build up items from the toad house! It's a breeze for me now. My least favorite from that game is definitely 8-1. So incredibly frustrating, and it is all about timing that is sooo hard to pull off thanks to the enemies. I totally agree about SM2!
I definitely disagreed on some of the classic ones I grew up playing in the '90s, but besides that yeah this was a very interesting video. Glad I saw it!
the reason why theses levels are challenging is they have to make it hard because its for the memory from the nes so you wont beat it that easily, you noticed that every level is short in mario bros? yep that why
Actually the level what you call the worst in lost levels is not really a bad level it's just hard. Just because it's a hard level doesn't mean it's not fun
5:34 Oh I strongly disagree with you on Super Mario 64. I disagree with you on Super Mario Bros 3 but to be honest there's not that much I would like to add on that. I fully agree with you on Super Mario Land 2, but I strongly disagree with you on Super Mario 64. I like wet dry world because I like the strategy and puzzle solving of raising and lowering the water levels and I like how depending on how high or low on the portrait you jump into it will determine what water level it starts at which is actually pretty cool. It's like the clock level where depending on where the minute and hour hands lie determines how quick or slow everything at the level moves or if it doesn't move at all. Honestly I can say with full confidence that the worst level is rainbow cruise. It's slow and dull. Now don't get me wrong there are some fun parts about the level it's not like a particularly bad level it's just long and tedious because you're always waiting forever and ever for the damn extremely slow carpet ride over the rainbow
I didn't have a problem with world 7-4 of Super Mario Bros considering I played the All Stars version. You just go bottom, then middle, then top, then middle again, and then top again. That's not too difficult for me.
7-4 and 8-4 are my favorite levels in the entire SMB1! I don't love this game, it is boring for me, but 7-4 and 8-4 are some of few interesting nondefault levels.
7-4 and wet dry world are not fun, but at least they are creative and original. that's why repeated levels of smb (5-3, 7-2, 7-3) and dire dire docks are way worse for me
The thing about the lily pad and pachinko pevel in sunshine is i hate the lily pad level more. I have never beaten it to this day because its that difficult
Nope. If you miss any coins, you have to do the level over, if it doesn't kick you out of the level for you to spend 10 minutes trying to regain access.
So world 7 in SMB is mostly a replay of levels from worlds 2 and 4( the only exception is 7-1). 7-4 is a remake of 4-4. And on that note C-3 in Lost Levels AKA Super Mario 2 Japan is a slightly harder reuse of 7-3. And I must say I'm surprised you used the example of before I start illusion and not actually one of the worst levels in Mario World which is tubular
make the cut but only because it's by far the most difficult, it's not that bad of a level, maybe a little unfair. Now that I think about it smr doesn't really have any horrible levels, it's pretty underrated imo
Yeah I disagree with you about Super Mario Bros. I'll state my opinions about the later parts of the video in a different comment I guess but what I think is bad in the original Super Mario Bros is that there are too many levels that are exactly the same as one another. The only difference is the amount of enemies. But then when you play on the hard mode or as I like to call them the Star World because there's a star before the world number, those levels that are the exact same are literally 100% exactly the same because both versions of it Are the version that has more enemies. 1-3 is literally the same as 5-3. 1-4 is literally the same as 6-4. 2-2 is literally the same as 7-2. 2-3 is literally the same as 7-3. 2-4 is literally the same as 5-4. Absolutely unacceptable! Nintendo proved a year later with the lost levels that they could make every level of the game completely different although then they for some reason got lazy with c-3 and c-4 being exactly the same as 7-3 and 7-4 though.
Actually, I can think of one use for the pointless level in super mario land 2. Now granted if you just run it full sprint and just jump at the right time you'll be fine but still it's annoying. 8-2 might be a good candidate as well because it's initially not obvious where you're supposed to go since you have to hit a certain block to get a beanstalk to come out so you can go up, but when you see that red paratrooper underneath that block you do get the idea that yeah you should try to hit that one but then hopefully you don't end up bouncing the wrong way and you just fall down to your death after you hit it
I had a lot of fun as a kid playing world 7-1 in SMB 3, but I can see why some people wouldn't like it
Snow drop Galaxy is so underrated in difficulty. You have to move the snow put of the way with your cursor, something which the game never teaches you. And then you have figure out a strategy to catch them. Such as trapping them in the hole with the fire flower
NGL the maze castle levels can be fun when you know the path. If Nintendo put some sort of a hint, I think it would be more fun.
For 3D land there is a star world level that is basically W4-4 but with shadow Mario chasing you
why did this list turn from worst to just most boring levels, there are actual bad levels in those games
In my opinion in mario 64 / mario 64 ds, the worst level is jolly roger bay (the eel is kinda just there and its creepy, and what was the last time it actually attacked someone, the 100 coins star is cancer, i would only come to the level if that was the last level i havent visited)
I absolutely despise Tall, Tall Mountain
That's funny, 7-1 is one of my favorite levels in SMB3!
For SMB Lost Levels, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the glitch where the spring can just not appear if there’s too many sprites on screen (not helped by Lakitu throwing spinies out), or the checkpoint that places you directly over a chasm.
I disagree for Mario Galaxy. The trash disposal levels have a specific place in hell just for them, nothing gets close to it.
As someone who is almost done with a Galaxy replay, you are correct. Those bombs have to be thrown almost perfectly and I hate it so much
Honorable mentions:
SMB1: 2-3 and it's world 6 counterpart
SMBTLL: 7-3
SMB3: 8-1
SM64: Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride
Super Mario Galaxy: Grand Finale Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2: Battle Belt Galaxy
NSMBU: Don't. Touch. Anything.
SM3DL: All spinning platform airship levels
SM3DW: Hammerhead Reef
7-1 in SMB3 is probably my favorite level in the game. :(
I would have replaced Wet Dry World from Super Mario 64 with Dire Dire Docks.
1:05 an even harder version is 7-3 on SMB Lost Levels, on SMB Deluxe! it is basically C-3 without Lakitu, but instead there is something worse, THE GROUND IS OFFSCREEN FOR MOST OF THE LEVEL!!
it makes it even harder to land your jumps
idk, I feel like Rainbow Ride might be worse than Wet-Dry World. All the waiting on magic carpets... I didn't even feel like playing it last time I went through Mario 64...
Agreed. Plus the fact that any mistake is instant death is pretty annoying too.
4:13 I really hope you're being sarcastic because that is a painfully easy to find secret.
So you've never actually gone back and finished the Cloud Kingdom in SMO. Got it.
There's barely anything to do if you do.
Corona mountain:
A whole Skill Issue compilation video
I guess that the Crowbers in Super Mario Bros Ds are the perfect description of Grian's "Pesky Bird" joke.😂😂😂
6-ghosthouse is my most hated level, especially going in blind for NSMB2 so I end up timing over because of how confusing it is.
I just wanted to write I like your new Series of "every Mario games" like this:D
Tbh, I love the aesthetic they use in that Flipsville Galaxy, idk why
flipsville? really? what about stone cyclone or something like that?
I want to see Nico try to beat Sonic the Hedgehog witthout touching any rings.
honestly nico hasnt chnaged since the biggning, and i love it.
the reason why theses levels are challenging is they have to make it hard because its for the memory from the nes so you wont beat it that easily, you noticed that every level is short in mario bros? yep that why
You go to Mario 64 and wet dry world are you serious you’ve got Magic carpet stage tick-tock clock
I think mount magmeow is the coolest looking level in bowsers fury, but it’s very slow paced and boring
Actually the level what you call the worst in lost levels is not really a bad level it's just hard. Just because it's a hard level doesn't mean it's not fun
That level in SMB3 is literally one of the best lol
Nico!!!! Where is your vintage video where you talk about how gaming in the 90s was better???????? I want to watch it!!!!
I think the easy level in Super Mario Land 2 is there so you can grind for coins and powerups.
Personally I’ve always liked 6-ghost house in NSMB2
I didn't have a problem with world 7-4 of Super Mario Bros considering I played the All Stars version. You just go bottom, then middle, then top, then middle again, and then top again. That's not too difficult for me.
Thought you were gonna say Tubular for Super Mario World
Theres a level in 3D land that you are able to jump straight to the end if you have a Tanooki
2:44
Easter island
7-4 and 8-4 are my favorite levels in the entire SMB1! I don't love this game, it is boring for me, but 7-4 and 8-4 are some of few interesting nondefault levels.
Tubular is my pick for super Mario world lol
I will shock you! I cleared the Pachinco Machine on the second try!
For super Mario sunshine, SOUNDS LIKE A SKILL ISSUE
My favorite SM64 stage is Wet Dry World :(
7-4 and wet dry world are not fun, but at least they are creative and original. that's why repeated levels of smb (5-3, 7-2, 7-3) and dire dire docks are way worse for me
Hi Nicobbq I love this and I hope you have a good day and you are awesome
Yeah, browser's fury is a badass cool game but THAT'S boring.
Mario Odysseys worst one is the Dark Side because it's just a boss and it has the most frustrating moons.
The pachinko and lily pad level are the worst level in Mario sunshine, but I love their music
3:00 world 7 in smb3 is my #1 fav world the music is a bop
I like world 6 ghost house because getting lost there can possibly be fun.
Don’t forget Tubular from Super Mario World
The thing about the lily pad and pachinko pevel in sunshine is i hate the lily pad level more. I have never beaten it to this day because its that difficult
Many of these are great. Losing doesn't make it a bad level.
Nico: NSMBWII Most annoying level 8-4
Me who played 7-6:
The Lilly pad level looks easy compared to the pankino machine .
Nope. If you miss any coins, you have to do the level over, if it doesn't kick you out of the level for you to spend 10 minutes trying to regain access.
Wet Dry World is my favorite level in Super Mario 64.... 😢
And I must say I'm surprised you used the example of before I start illusion and not actually one of the worst levels in Mario World which is tubular
ayo how abut super mario run.Worst level?!
make the cut but only because it's by far the most difficult, it's not that bad of a level, maybe a little unfair.
Nintendo proved a year later with the lost levels that they could make every level of the game completely different although then they for some reason got lazy with c-3 and c-4 being exactly the same as 7-3 and 7-4 though.
i was really amazed by the joke at 8:11 ! ;)
