Let me explain: Mario 3D Land has 2 half: 1 with the normal worlds, and another one with the special worlds. The first half shows Mario rescuing Peach from Bowser. While in the second half, after beating Bowser, Mario discovers the special worlds and travel it for rescuing his brother Luigi, kidnapped by Dry Bowser.
Super Mario 3D Land was my first game for the New Nintendo 2DS XL (thanks for that great name Nintendo) and I had a lot of fun playing it :D the no-touching-a-certain-color challenge is always pretty exciting to watch
I think that if the level starts you on something red, you should get an automatic pass if you're able to move to another color on the first jump and avoid red the rest of the level. That seems fair.
Wow, I took out the color picker like Bathaniel Nandy's editor and I actually found all the stuff that was almost questionably red still wasn't red. They were either pink or brown. For instance, I thought for sure there would be at least one red pixel at 11:16 but that door was entirely pink and purple. Congratulations!

He makes exceptions for when the game forcibly spawns him on the color he’s avoiding that playthrough. If he didn’t start on red carpet, he’d only have to jump right on top of the P-Wing, still avoiding red.

Maybe playing as Luigi would solve the problem? However, I've never played this game, so I don't know whether that's possible or not.
