Just wanna point out that you don’t actually need to reach the top of the flagpole with *every* character in 3D Land and 3D World. The game only checks if you’ve gotten the gold flagpole at least once (which means you can also finish a level with several characters at once if you use multiplayer). I still fully agree with your point! Beating the same levels over and over again can become quite tedious (like the original version of Lost Levels, in which you need to beat the game 8 times to unlock the letter worlds…)
You also need to beat the main game 8 times for lost levels to unlock world 9 and beyond. And in odyssey you don't need the costumes marked as special, as they were added later on with updates, which means much less coin grinding
Unfortunately (for me), my definitions of 100% are: Main 100% + DLC 100% = fully 100%. For me, it's 100% of EVERYTHING, main and DLC. So I still make myself get the special outfits (I've done it before though so. Actually the most annoying part is Balloon Word 100% in Mario Odyssey).
Now it's time I bring up the people who want to 100% the remakes (not ports)! (0:26) Super Mario Bros Deluxe: It's a remake of SMB1 & SMBTLL. You have to beat SMB twice (this includes the hard mode), beat SMBTLL (except for World 9 & A-D since there not in this remake), defeat every enemy, defeat all Bowsers (using the Fire Flower), get all Red Coins/High Score/Yoshi Egg in Challenge Mode (including filling up the score meter). Yeah all these achievements are NOT worth the 100%. (2:20) Super Mario Advance 1: The SMB2 remake. You have to beat the full game while collecting all Advance Coins, then beat the game again while finding all Yoshi eggs. While you do have to play the game twice & the Yoshi Eggs are hard to find, it's still worth it. (2:58) Super Mario Advance 4: Almost same as the original. Beat the game (including the Munchers & Hand Trap levels), get all Warp Whistles, clear all E-Reader levels while collecting all Advance Coins & E-Coins. Worth playing it, more Mario 3 levels = More fun! (4:18) Super Mario Advance 2: To 100% this SMW remake you have to beat all levels, while also finding secret exits, & Dragon Coins, & activate all 4 Switches. It's the same game, but the Dragon Coins are mandatory, however collecting all of them rewards you with a cool cutscene where the coins turn into Peach Coins. Not the best change, but still worth seeing that cutscene!
Doing all the moons from Super Mario Odyssey is much more irritating than the 120 shines from Super Mario Sunshine. Super Mario 64 was perfectly balanced, Galaxy too although it was too easy. Same for Galaxy 2 which also had less “long missions” like Galaxy 1 which had better and bigger “robust” galaxies.
I would recommend completing both Galaxy games. Luigi Galaxy feels different thanks to the different controls and all the 120 Green Stars in 2 aren't that hard to find (and if you are having trouble finding them, you can use a guide).
A note for me (this varies depending on how you count 100% and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who views it this way): I count different versions of games as different 100% runs. So 100% Super Mario Bros. on the NES means you did not 100% the All-Stars version - and I think it's more universally that you definitely wouldn't have Deluxe, because that game has a different 100% checklist entirely. Because of this... Nathaniel Bandy couldn't fulfill ny requirement for 100% (beat all OFFICIAL versions of a game, excluding Virtual Console/Switch Online to 100% completion.) Also, when 100% Mario games, I also count spinoffs (which is why I haven't done it because I find Mario Party to be painfully unenjoyable - war with me later, okay?). So my requirements are as follows: • 100% every mainline Donkey Kong game (DK, DK2, DK3, DK Jr., DK Math, etc.) • 100% every mainline Super Mario Bros. (main series) game - including remakes (virtual console and Switch online do not count as different versions/remakes, since these are emulated, but may be used to accomplish 100%). • 100% every Mario Party game. • 100% every Yoshi game. • 100% every Mario and Sonic game. • 100% every Mario sports game (Sluggers, Tennis, Golf, etc.) • 100% Super Mario RPG • 100% every Paper Mario game • 100% every Mario & Luigi game • 100% every Luigi's Mansion game... And for the hardest one 100% every Mario Kart game (yes, it is SURPRISINGLY difficult. Just ask Nathaniel Bandy.)
I have a few things to say: -If you want to play the original trilogy and Mario World, you should do it on the Deluxe/Advance remakes, since they have a more interesting 100% -The Lost Levels isn't that bad if you put yourself in the "it is very hard" mindset (and play the All-Stars remake, for the love of God) -For NSMB2, you can play the Coin Rush to grind gold, it's still gonna take a lot, but at least you have more levels to choose from, which are challenges on their own -My cousin and I actually 100% SM3DW, and the "all characters" chore only took us a weekend. Oh, and by the way, you only have to get the top of the flagpole once -Simmilarly, you can unlock all secret courses and get all special coins Mario Run in a weekend, but if you also want to get every Remix 10 exclusive item and the 50,000 toads required for Peach's tent... That is goona take a while, specially, since Remix 10 is a lootbox, but I already got everything, except for Peach's tent... And I'm also missing the Brothership statues because MY DAMN PHONE BROKE UP TWO MONTHS AGO AND I WON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY A NEW ONE UNTIL NEW YEAR!!!
Unfortunately (for me), I count the different versions as separate 100% runs. So (using Zelda as an example here), I have a separate run for Ocarina of Time (N64) and Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS) (I've played both to 100% completion, except for the cow.....yeah I got explaining to do for that one, I know). So since the SMAS graphics, music and engine are different, I count SMB1 + SMB1 All-Stars as entirely different runs. Even more so with SMB Deluxe and the Advance remakes (the most changed).
I don't know anyone else who gold medaled all the challenges in NSMBU but I highly recommend it too! They were a blast to grind out, even if some were monstrous.
Probably not the time to point it out, but there's an easy 'hack' for 3D World and beating all the levels with the all the characters - especially solo. Simply have 3 other controllers handy, play the level as one of your favorites, then WAIT at the goalpost. Turn on the other 3 controllers and select 3 of the other characters. Then as Player 1, pick up another player. Then on one of the others, pick up the remaining player and stand at the base of the goal post. Then jump into the flag pole and quickly pick up the controller with the other character being held and also jump onto the pole. You will get credit for all 4 characters completing the level! Most levels can be done with 2 playthroughs, and also recommended for 'Champion's road' and using Peach to complete it both times, but spawning in the other characters to be carried at the final flag pole. Not saying it makes it any more enjoyable than like it was in 3D Land, but still better than doing every level 5 times, especially Champion's Road. Some levels you will have already cleared twice due to a stamp requiring a particular character to get on that attempt, and can make sure to hit the top on at least 1 of those attempts (usually should just do it the first time if possible, a long jump / cat suit makes majority of them easy to hit the top on the initial attempt.

Unfortunately, for all of those, I’m gonna have to actually say no. First super Mario Odyssey has a total of 999 moons and a lot of them are extremely difficult to get so you have hours of grinding If you wanna get all of them. next we need to talk about the RPG‘s. These games are meant to be extremely long, but it also means they’re going to be massive like an open world. The issue with this is that there’s a lot of features in the game like puzzles and they also hide certain things that can help you or it just like something you probably need to buy something so I don’t recommend 100% it. Something like new super Mario Bros u I can get behind because I’ve done it multiple times before. But you should just take my word cause you’re gonna have a long time if you wanna just beat every RPG 100%
When it comes to Mario galaxy, I view Luigi more as a new way to play the game again that just so happens to contribute to full completion. If I wanna play galaxy again after a while, I’ll go with Luigi, and I think that mindset makes it way more tolerable
Bro completely forgot that for Mario Run, you also need to collect every last building in the game and level up every enemy to the max, which means grinding for the enemies and playing Remix 10 and Toad Rally for ten centuries, Remix 10 to unlock everything from a non-microtransaction lootbox type of system which constantly gives you duplicate items, and Toad Rally to get thousands upon thousands of Toads to unlock the shop-exclusive stuff! I’m surprised he already said it isn’t worth it without taking THAT into consideration!
Funnily enough, this video of yours has come out perfectly as that is what I am doing with my spare time and complete every single mainline Mario game 100% myself (expect Mario Maker 1) As much as I agree with your list I am doing each one of these 100% regardless unless it’s replaying the game itself more than once (Galaxy 1, 3D Land and World) Fantastic Video Overall Nico, one of my favourite ones 🤍🍄
I'm a completionist gamer, so I've already 100%ed all of these games, including the Luigi stuff in Galaxy, the green stars in Galaxy 2, and the 9,999,999 coins in New 2. The blue coins in Sunshine were a pain, but there's no better feeling then seeing that 100% at the end.
I tried SMB1, but at 1 point, I was a pixel away from the final axe, but one of Bowser’s many hammers gave me a game over! After that, I couldn’t even get past world 8-3, because the stupid hammer bros are completely RNG! So I gave up and tried SMB3… and that didn’t go so well either, because of one of the airship levels. It’s so fast, that I couldn’t react to everything in time! And now I’m afraid to try these games again.
I reckon that fully completing Mario Galaxy is worth it IF you don't play the game as Luigi soon after completing the game as Mario If you complete the game as Mario and, for example, a year later you play complete the game as Luigi, I think that's a great strategy
Nico I know you haven't before but can you do any mario game on your channel anyone it diesent matter which as a let's play?? Like super paper mario or mario strikers charged mario rpg mario golf super rush mario wonder anything!
In 3D World you don't need to reach the top of the flagpole with every character for 100% completion. You only have to reach it once and then when you play the levels 4 other times (I know how daunting this sounds) you can reach any part of the flagpole
I'm currently trying to 100% complete NSMB DS. It's pretty fun, but the levels where you're required to take a mini mushroom with you, despite noone can be found in this level, is quite annoying sometimes.
Yeah, I have NSMBU which is pretty good. I tend to get a lot of star coins and maybe I will perfectly complete it at one point but I am not spending too much time trying to look for star coins. I do tend to explore and beat even the levels that could be skipped and I tend to replay levels if I see a star coin but miss it or whatnot.
I agree that you should play the games as recommended, and unless you are up for some scavenger hunting you can go for 100% in the Mario games it’s up to you nobody is forced to play games so just play until it’s not fun. The blue coins can be hard and I recommend using a checklist. Green stars in galaxy 2 it’s up to you find each star easy to find or in a creative place go get them if you want. This goes for every game play have fun if you’re not having fun take a break and maybe go back another time.
When I played and beat the story of Mario Galaxy I didn't bother playing the game again as Luigi and then 7 years later I decided to 100% the game and it was not worth it at all
22:25 "no grinding required". Unless you are like me and didnt realize that you needed every standee for 100% completion well after half of the game 🙈 All those 999 purple coins wasted since I didn't use them and therefore didn't get more...
a few notes: -In the NES release of SMB TLL to 100% you need to beat World 1-8 24 times in total (You can use warps) -In the All-Stars release of SMB TLL you must never use warps, or the save file will permanently lock World 9, in the original World 9 would lock on A Run if you used warps, but do to a bug, it's locks permanently in All-Stars. -In SML 1 completing the game once unlocks Expert Level mode, completing the game again (in this mode) unlocks level select -In SML 2 I believe there are 6 secret exits to find -In New Soup DS you can play as Luigi (L + R then press A on a save file), and use a secret code to unlock Challenge Mode (open the pause menu and press; L, R, L, R, X, X, Y, Y) (Luigi can only be played on any save file after beating the game once, and Expert Mode can only be used in a save file that has beaten the game) -In Galaxy 1 if you collect 9999 star bits, you unlock a little bonus secret (this however does not count for both Mario and Luigi, you have to collect 9999 star bits twice to get the bonus in each file) -For some of the games (not really sure which ones) if you collect 99 lives, Mario takes of his hat (mainly the Some of New series I think) -In New Soup Wii you must NEVER see the green question mark block, that appears after dying on a level 8 times in a row, if you see it; reset the game (not the whole game, just close the game to be safe) if you save after, you can never have sparkles on the stars on that save file. -In Galaxy 2 you also need to collect 9999 star bits (haven't played this one in a while, so don't know all the details) -In New Soup U Deluxe and New Soup Luigi U (Wii U and Deluxe) when playing as Nabbit, the levels will turn grey after completion. (Don't know too much about this, but probably locks something if the levels aren't blue) -In Bowser's Fury, you can use a Bowser amiibo to call him any time you want. (You don't need this it's just extra help) Those are the ones I have currently played/ know of, if you want to find out some of this stuff yourself, just use the Mario Wiki (Completion Wiki, Missable Content Wiki, Hard Mode Wiki) I recommend using these if you wanna 100% the older games

In Super Mario 3D Land, if you reach the top of the flagpole with Mario, you don’t have to reach the top of the flagpole with Luigi.
And vice versa
I still remember stumbling upon Nico when i was young after watching Mario is not a hero. Man was once the budget Ceave now hes my goat. Props to him

You also need to beat the main game 8 times for lost levels to unlock world 9 and beyond. And in odyssey you don't need the costumes marked as special, as they were added later on with updates, which means much less coin grinding
Thankfully the SNES version of Lost Levels only requires you to beat it once and lets you save your progress between levels

I think like Sunshine, there was a level or 2 cut from Odyssey. It explains the coin grinding.
Should you 100% every Mainline Mario game? If you choose to do so, then don't do them consecutively in a marathon like Nathaniel Bandy did
I would recommend completing both Galaxy games. Luigi Galaxy feels different thanks to the different controls and all the 120 Green Stars in 2 aren't that hard to find (and if you are having trouble finding them, you can use a guide).

• 100% every Mario & Luigi game
• 100% every Luigi's Mansion game...
And for the hardest one
100% every Mario Kart game (yes, it is SURPRISINGLY difficult. Just ask Nathaniel Bandy.)

hey nicobbq I have a challenge for you beat super mario bros wonder spashol worlds without touching coins
22:25 "no grinding required". Unless you are like me and didnt realize that you needed every standee for 100% completion well after half of the game 🙈 All those 999 purple coins wasted since I didn't use them and therefore didn't get more...
You always need to adopt the mentality that if you are maxed out on a currency to just "waste" it on something just in case
@Infindox I have learned now! Hopefully...
and the game actually mentions your coin count sometimes, so…
@OG_retrogamer maybe it does xD mention it how do you mean?
@ if you for the first time reach like 800 coins the game tells you about how to spend them, and what you can get with them
I used flying cheats to get more fun to complete Mario Galaxy 2
Nice
Grinding for the last few standees isn't fun on Super Marion Bros Wonder, I wouldn't go for them.
I would like those videos! But if you can't, i understand.
I don't ussually 100% games i ussually just beat iwithout doing many extras, get to ending multiple times, and try to get good at beating th
You r 100% wrong about Mario 3.
actually, on the Wii U versione of 3d world you don't have to beat the Level with all characters
You didn't add my name to the members list.
I update the member list about once a month, so there might be a delay, but it will eventually appear, don't worry!
Why did he play all stars
Looks prettier. That's all haha
Good
and meet yoshi in 64
a few notes:
-In the NES release of SMB TLL to 100% you need to beat World 1-8 24 times in total (You can use warps)
-In the All-Stars release of SMB TLL you must never use warps, or the save file will permanently lock World 9, in the original World 9 would lock on A Run if you used warps, but do to a bug, it's locks permanently in All-Stars.
-In SML 1 completing the game once unlocks Expert Level mode, completing the game again (in this mode) unlocks level select
-In SML 2 I believe there are 6 secret exits to find
-In New Soup DS you can play as Luigi (L + R then press A on a save file), and use a secret code to unlock Challenge Mode (open the pause menu and press; L, R, L, R, X, X, Y, Y) (Luigi can only be played on any save file after beating the game once, and Expert Mode can only be used in a save file that has beaten the game)
-In Galaxy 1 if you collect 9999 star bits, you unlock a little bonus secret (this however does not count for both Mario and Luigi, you have to collect 9999 star bits twice to get the bonus in each file)
-For some of the games (not really sure which ones) if you collect 99 lives, Mario takes of his hat (mainly the Some of New series I think)
-In New Soup Wii you must NEVER see the green question mark block, that appears after dying on a level 8 times in a row, if you see it; reset the game (not the whole game, just close the game to be safe) if you save after, you can never have sparkles on the stars on that save file.
-In Galaxy 2 you also need to collect 9999 star bits (haven't played this one in a while, so don't know all the details)
-In New Soup U Deluxe and New Soup Luigi U (Wii U and Deluxe) when playing as Nabbit, the levels will turn grey after completion. (Don't know too much about this, but probably locks something if the levels aren't blue)
-In Bowser's Fury, you can use a Bowser amiibo to call him any time you want. (You don't need this it's just extra help)
Those are the ones I have currently played/ know of, if you want to find out some of this stuff yourself, just use the Mario Wiki (Completion Wiki, Missable Content Wiki, Hard Mode Wiki) I recommend using these if you wanna 100% the older games
0:27 wrong game bozo
It’s a remake of the same game!
It's the same game just remade.
Don’t be rude
Bro its the super mario allstars version of smb1 its basiclly the same damn game
W nicobbq
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels was great. You just suck. If you play it on the Super NES, it saves your progress after every world.
How about Brothership?
Spinoff doesnt count same for the other Mario and Luigi games
@mrgamer22222 good point lol
I come back to watch 1 Nicobbq video and he instantly reminds me that Super Mario Run existed
