Very informative video. I wish you would have done some more with the leveling system. Like can you hit auto level a second time and what the system does if you do that. From your video Im now seeing that its ok after it says its level to go back into manual mode and check it. Mine seems to end up with the front being slightly low. So I could correct that and then reset the system.
Thanks for watching AL happybto hear it was helpful. Also thanks for the comments I really welcome those. It helps when planning future videos. Safe travels
Can you demonstrate how to manually pull up the middle and rear jacks....one at a time...I am so afraid of doing something wrong! I want to recenter the feet on to a higher block.
Question for you…. Last time I tried auto level- the system lifted my wheels so far off the ground, I thought it was going to tip over. I made it stop and then manually leveled. The site was almost level- I do not know why it did it. I’ve since learned about recalibration- so I plan to do that before trying to auto level. Do you think it will take care of the problem? Second question- where is the best place to install level bubbles?
I would start with a recalibration first. If it does it again I would contact lippert. It could be the sensor has come loose.( under the coach) As far as the level bubbles I have mine right by the level up controls on the side of the coach and the front so I can see them while manually leveling.
Great video! Quick question, we have a Lippert 3.0 auto leveling 6 point system (electric) and had a RR jack error and found the issue. The system said to "retract all" to clear the code so we did while hooked up on the truck then we hit the auto level and it went through it's leveling procedure but the passenger side center jack didn't extend to the ground like all the rest of the jacks. There's no errors etc. and the system seemed to work fine, it just never did this before in our driveway.
that's a great question. unfortunately they don't work that way. the left is the lead jack and the right will only travel after pressure is sensed on the left. How i got around that was to raise them and then drop them again and just before the right touches lift them so the left just come up a little. that seemed to work for me. I am now learning a new system as we just took delivery of a new Montana that has Lipperts new Titan system. this system gives more options such as you were asking about.
Thank you for your video. It was great and I subscribed. A clarifying question please. We just purchaseda 2018 pre owned Keystone Avalance. The Auto Level is great...however, when pressing the right and left to return to hitch height it didn't work. Therefore I did it manually. I beleive you are saying to rehook the truck and just do retract all, correct? Also, after I did it manually and we went to unhitch, the system said "Ready: Jacks down", but they were still up. Again I used manual. Did I miss something? Thank you.
Hook it back to the truck. Extend all of the jack down at least 6 inches then select re track all. This should clear any errors. Then try the taking it off the truck have it auto level. Before you try hitting the left and right and see if it will go to hitch level. But keep in mind if the it comes off the trick with the front lower than level than that feature will not work. It will have to come off the truck with the front higher than level.
Hello Mr Jones, Do you perform a pull test when you hitch up? To insure the hitch coupled, we visually inspect the locking mechanism and apply the trailer brakes while attempting to full forward with no acceleration. Prior to doing this, we lower front jacks to a couple of inches off ground incase hitches fails. Thoughts?
Hi Dan yes I agree a pull test is a great practice to insure the hitch is locked and working properly. Another good practice is to chock the wheels behind the rig so that it doesn't slide when hitching. Thanks for watching. Safe Travels
Great video. I tried to recalibrate mine but while it does level the RV almost to perfection, 1 leg isn't touching the ground at all (a good 4-5 inches gap) and another one in diagonal is barely touching. Is this normal? Anyone has an idea on how to fix this?
I don't know why it would do that. Would you be able share if this is a consistent behavior? At the end of the auto-leveling cycle, the controller goes through all the jacks to see if they are grounded. It looks for small changes in the angle. If a jack is 4 to 5 inches off the ground, it might be the auto level cycle was interrupted before completing.
Question, I have the same trailer and I have noticed the newer Keystones are adding a slide switch for each slide so if you are in a rest area and you can open one slide you don't have to go out and turn the valve to bypass one slide, have you looked into converting your trailer to add the switch?
After your troubleshooting and fix, did the problem go away? Was that the fix or was it something else? I have had an issue like this for years and the dealer can't figure it out.
I only have a 4 point system of this. I can only do manual from inside the 5th wheel on a panel inside. It is very touchy and almost impossible to do the jacks independently of each other. I wish I had a separate switch on each jack as the auto level almost never works. It always lifts the wheels off the ground no matter how close to level it is.
I’ve noticed where my hydraulic landing gear will time out when I retract them. I’ll click the retract button, but after a short amount of time it stops retracting. After letting the control panel sit for about 5 seconds I’ll hear the panel click, and it’ll allow me to continue retracting. Have to do it a couple of times to get them all the way up. Any thoughts on what’s causing that? I’m not getting an error on the screen like you mentioned.
It's always best to bring them in but if it's only going to move a little bit it would be fine to just use manual level. You just never know how much it will move using auto level
When you go back to hitch height doesn't that put extra pressure on rear levelers. I always bring up rear then raise front. I'm I not doing this correctly?
We have a 2019 Jayco Eagle 5th wheel. We purchased it new and this year, the first time out we had problems getting the rear jacks to go down. After resetting them a few times they decided to work. The last camping trip, everything worked great until we got home. We went to level our coach and the rear stabilizing jacks just clicked and would not go down. We got an error code on the panel that showed the right rear stabilizing jack was the fault. I checked all the wiring harnesses at the motor, they were clean and tight. We manually extended the rear jacks and then when we went to push the retract all button, all the jacks came up except the right rear. I pulled the motor from the gear box and checked the gear box and it seemed to be running smooth but when I turned the armature of the electric motor with my fingers, It was very rough and felt like there was gravel inside. Was not smooth at all. Am I right in thinking that the motor is bad and drawing too much amps? If so, can these motors be rebuilt somewhere since no one in Spokane Wa. will do them. Lippert wants 545.00 for a motor. If there is someone out there that can rebuild these motors, where and who? Am I right in my diagnosis or should I continue to look somewhere else. Is this normal for it to feel so rough when I turn the armature? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you. Dan DeRuwe
Your description of that motor does lead me to believe that is the problem. Also I am wondering if you have changed the 50a fuse to an 80a that will help prevent faults. Here is the customer service number for lippert in case you don't have it.432 547 7378 they are great at walking you through diagnosis. As far as rebuilding that motor I'm sure it could be done. I am not familiar with your area unfortunately to recommend a shop.
The issue we have is, when it does it’s auto leveling, it always end up so high that we have to use a step stool to get up to the first step, any ideas why that is?
It could be a couple of reasons. 1 the site is just that un level or you could need to recalibrate the system. I find I have ro recalibrate now and then and it's usually after we have traveled on some rough roads
@@Jonesin2Go thanks will definitely have to try that, it does reach level, and if the ground is soft it even sometimes kind of readjusts just after it’s finished, it’s just high when it’s done. It’s not that old but the buttons are already not responsive making us try over and over for those multi press settings. Weird too since we always use the separate remote, never pressed them too hard or anything. Wish they had made a beep for each key press, would have been very helpful. Thanks again.
If it's the 50 amp breaker, does the volt meter also drop to 10.5 volts before it shuts off and resets? Mine has new fully charged batteries and it will read 12.5 volts then gradually drop to 10.5 during use and shut off then reset.
The electric will have a motor at each Jack. If the 2 center are the only ones not moving look for fuses or test for voltage at each Jack while someone operates the system. If all fails call Lippert. They will walk you through some diagnostics. They are awsome when it comes to customer service.
Got my new Sandpiper parked in the driveway last night after dark. It’s morning now...still hitched to truck and buttoned-up. F’ing Lippert system has a fault and I can’t clear it. 5th wheel currently useless.
Has anybody experienced when setting up rig for tow. Push the left and right same time the front start to raise but the back and middle jacks don't retract. Is there something wrong? I'm a newbie I thought it would damage jacks because they would be holding all the weight. I think because I stopped it immediately and went into manual mode.
Our site is not at all level. We have it the best we could with the auto leveling system… but I’m wondering if it’s possible to raise one jack at a time to be able to put blocks under individual jacks without hooking back up to the truck?
With this being a six way level system I am assuming it is hydraulic and not electric. If it's hydraulic you could have a cylinder that has gone into bypass. This usually happens when you get some kind of debris in the system. Have you ever added any kind of additives to your fluid?
@@lottegower9934 ok so here is what I would try first. if there are no obvious issues like a broken line or a leak of something like that. Add some fork oil. Maxima 56901 15WT Standard Hydraulic Fork Oil - 1 Liter Bottle a.co/d/3dGLj4f Then run your jacks up and down several times. If it is something putting a jack into bypass this may dislodge it. You should put this is now and then anyway so it worth a try. With all slides in and all jacks up. Your resivour should be an inch or so below the fill cap. If it is you will need to take some fluid out before you add the fork oil. If it's low just add it.

@Jonesin 2 Go, thank you for such a thorough video on a subject that I just happen to be wrestling with. But first, I want to echo your praise of the people at Lippert. Wonderful and very patient. I have been dealing with issues with my 6-point hydraulic leveling system for months now. First thought the addition of fork oil would solve my problem, then battled with front jacks slipping when extending the hydraulic slides, which led to a replacement of the cartridge for the front landing jacks, then continued to deal with slipping front left jack while on trip, ratchet strapped, which caused front right jack to start slipping. Lippert coached me to tighten front nut of cartridge, (which seems to have stopped the slipping of the jacks), but which now is causing a fast clicking sound from the front left landing gear when lowering the front landing gear and experiencing my first big problem in getting the control pad to properly level when using auto level. Today I learned about recalibration, which now leaves me with “only” the problem with the fast-paced clicking noise when lowering the front jacks. Seems like I solved one problem and another one appears. We are on the tail end of a two month “vacation” down in Hilton Head and will be making a five day run back to WI. As you can see I feel like I am dealing with a crazy situation. Not sure if any of this makes any sense and would welcome any thoughts, especially about the clicking noise that I am now dealing with. But in today’s call with Lippert, the service rep was not very concerned about the noise. He felt that if the landing and leveling gear and the hydraulic slides are all working properly, I should be ok to get home. Would welcome any thoughts you might have on all these issues, but especially the clicking noise issue.
I am having trouble with mine after 2 years it won't remember level no matter how many times I re-program it the next time I hit auto level it goes thru the auto level but its not level it always seams to be that the front is low
It could be that you sensor has come loose. Have you checked that it is secured tight. It should be located on the frame near the center of the rig. You have have to drop the under belly material to find it.
@@Jonesin2Go I have a 20 ft endoscopy camera I guess I can try to see with that, I thought maybe the controller was bad. maybe take it into the shop I have the extended warranty.

Then run your jacks up and down several times.
@@Jonesin2Go thank you very much. Will try
So after further looking we do have a leak in hydraulic line…. Grrrrrr
Why would left side not adjust properly? Keeps raising front
Can you be a little more specific as to what you are pushing and what jacks move?
@@Jonesin2Go when raising left side front jack gies up middle starts and rear doesn’t. I have trouble with left side last couple campgrounds we have been at. I ended up retracting right side to get left to go up then have to reliever middle and rear on right. I don’t know if sensor has gone wacky and no I haven’t re zeroed. Any ideas and suggestions would be grateful Thanks
@@jimgerman1231 that has me stumped. Have you called lippert yet? If not give them a call they have excellent techs that will walk you through some diagnostics. So call them when you can be next to your rig. In the mean time I will see if I can find something on this kind of problem
PS. I have also subscribed to your channel.
@@Jonesin2Go I talked to Lippert and they think it is the controller if it was the sensor she said it would not zero and it will zero it just won't remember zero.
