Thanks For Sharing!
I was 14 then and wrestling with “all-things teenager!” So many memories there - thanks for the memories 😊
Thanks a lot for doing this reallt great list :)!
Sorry I haven't commented for a while - been busy with an election campaign (running for parliament for a small party and unlikely to get into the parliament). Thank you for a great video on the charts 39 years ago 👍 Always great to hear and rediscover forgotten classics. Beautiful classic from Billy Ocean here and my favourite Kool and the Gang song here. Bobby socks the Eurovision winner. Catchy song. Can't believe the British public rejected Bryan Adams 'Heaven'. Still popular today. I wasn't even one when these songs came out, but 1985 is Grade A for music. The whole 1983-1985 period is amazing. Sadly The Crowd was a charity record for a fire at Bradford City stadium. A year of great music, but a year of tragedy.
So many great songs (group of death), but one stands out as an all-time favourite. That's the beautiful and powerful 'The Power of Love' by Jennifer Rush. A touching and emotional ballad, about love being forever whether in life and death, with an amazing vocal. Well deserved #1 best seller of 1985 and an absolutely timeless classic that will live on forever. I absolutely adore the song.
Fun fact, there were 3 songs called The Power of Love that were in the chart in 1985, there were also chart entries by Prince, Princess, King and Queen, not at the same time though sadly.
Welcome back !
@@francispelletier3647 Thank you. Good to be back.
@@russellhunter8378 And all three songs are beautiful in their own way.
Brilliant chart francis keep them coming looking g back at brilliant charts and music
I was 1 year old when these songs were in the charts.
I was 7.
can anyone explain to me what the story was with Bucks Fizz? They keep appearing on these 80's UK chart lists with super cheesy songs that seem straight out of some 1970's TV variety show. Growing up in the US, I'd never heard of them until now, and I am having trouble understanding who their audience was. Were they for kids, or did older people like them?
I had no idea there was a cover version of Like A Virgin. Didn't chart to well.
And that surprises you? Lol 😝
2:03 Depeche Mode🖤
You forgot Obsession by Animotion. Hit the chart on 11th May. Good list though except for Manchester United
