Ah, now I'm remembering 11-year-old me having Pokémon Black as my first main series Pokémon game, and approaching these four with my underleveled team, with only my Serperior actually being up to their level, and a rather poor understanding of type effectiveness. Good times.
W E A K, I had a level 70ish throh I caught as an 8 year old and only used him with my other Pokémon being level 40's. only used him in the elite four because he was the only one able to survive (dear god I never hated meinfoo, reniculus, and chandelure more than then.)
I'm much older than you guys, an original fan (14 years old when the games and anime hit the UK in 1998). Yet the BW/BW2 soundtrack is by far the best as a whole imo, with this hands down being the very best E4 battle theme. Other games had great tracks (Deoxys, Dialga/Palkia and the XY gym leader themes spring to mind), however as a whole there's very few dud tracks in the gen 5 soundtrack, and some AWESOME ones.
Ah, the song of much pain and suffering, I thought once I had them beaten the hard part was over. And then Ghetsis took that assumption, and shredded it into a million pieces.
Game Freak has yet to top this elite four theme. Nothing really hits you as strong as the beginning to this theme. It screams in your face, "You better be prepared!"
@@Weda_Bretajune not only that but the stories in both games are really something imo. Not to mention that the pokemon roster is isn't nearly as bad as some people would have you to believe!
Tbh i see a few problems that some may have with gen 5 1. The first game's roster is limited 2. Hilbert looks like a knock off Red (tbh I'm quite fine with this especially since genwunners always get their panties in a wad over it xd) And 3. The second games would've redeemed gen 5 if... They were on the 3ds instead as by that time most people i spoke to just wanted the franchise on 3ds which possibly meant they completely overlooked the second ones.
I love how faithful this is to the original track - it doesn’t try to fuck with it too much or do weird shit. It’s just a great remix for a great track.
This theme really shows the intensity of the gen 5 elite four. With typings of dark, ghost, psychic, and fighting, there's definitely more of a brooding and ominous presence to each of the members. Even though all of these types have been done before, each member is still much different and overall just comes across as more freaky and serious than their counterparts. When you encounter each of them and walk up their grand staircase to challenge them, it gives the vibe of "ayo you dare disturb me? time to die!" Combine this with an evil team with some crazy ideology that for ones actually is somewhat believable i find this batch of elite four members and the series of as a whole to be one of the most serious, severe, and genuine generations in the series. Oh yeah, this remix is a banger too
I still remember fighting this elite four as a kid and somehow winning using only an emboar... that was painful... well ya know what they say, you can't become champion of the Pokémon league without knowing how to spam full restores
That was literally me as well. I honestly can’t remember any other Pokémon I used in my play through other than Emboar, though I’m sure there were others.
Black was my second game, right after Diamond. I had a great time playing through the game, I do really think it has an excellent soundtrack. Thanks for the remix once again Vetrom
Wow, i has the reverse. Caitlin was a cakewalk for me, even with Emboar because i just spammed Heat Crash. Grimsley, on the other hand, was more of a challenge. He always managed to one shot my Emboar, even at LEVEL 100, with a Critquake from his god damn Krookidile. Hell, that alone is the reasom im using one in my most reacent file (lost my original copy so i had to start over. Had some event pokemon on that file too ;-;)
@@thatonefool0215 omg I know your pain. I had Meloetta, Keldeo, AND Genesect on my original copy and then I lost it. I can never forgive myself for it either
Ah yes those 75 times (yes I counted) that Caitlyn kicked my Samurott's ass. Marshall was easy enough, my Unfeazant was OP. For Shauntal, it was Samurott and Liepard. Ah yes my Samurott was an HM Slave due to myself having no prior experience. Only STAB moves, as well. No status moves or held items. The only reason I made it past the cut trees in LeafGreen was through what I learned from White. Also internet guides weren't used when I played White. Good times.
bro I remember my first experience with gen 5, was on w2 though, shauntal's chandelure and It's coverage completely DESTROYED me, the other 3 always left me with1 pokemon alive, and I didnt buy enough revives at the time, neither potions, so I got in the league, stuck forever without a way to heal and revive, and I didnt wanna get out because that had been as far as I had EVER been in that game, and when Iris came along, oh the pain didnt stop, dont remember much about it tho

Gen 5 is peak pokèmon The music, the designs, the story, even the new battle mechanics. Sure, there's a couple not so great ones, but overall? Best package that has yet to be topped by a non-remake mainline game
The memories are returning. The decade old memories of a particularly RNG blessed Samurott spamming Surf at just shy of every Pokémon that was sent out. Either Surf or Megahorn, anyway. Those were the only two good moves on the entire team, and the remaining five Pokémon were death fodder. That Samurott was eventually trained up to level 100, and at that moment I knew no fear. I name every Oshawott I get in any Pokémon game “Tachi” in his honor even today, over ten years hence.
This has been my favorite Elite Four theme for years ever since I first played B&W. Fond memories of my Durant absolutely demolishing everyone but Marshall 🐜
Probably the hardest Elite 4. Not ecen Sinnoh could compare, only Lucian was, to me, a stick in the wheel. But the entirety of Unova's Elite 4 is a whole new level of difficulty.
currently beating white2 with only a single spinda and the elite 4 has been the biggest hurdle so far (shauntal and marshal specifically) luckily the unova elite 4 theme is really good or else I'd go stir crazy
Man, post-game Marshal never missed a stone edge on my Crobat… and Shauntal’s Chandelure still sucks to fight. Freakin’ energy ball… and Caitlin has a freaking METAGROSS? God damn! Grimsley still kinda sucked to fight, too.
My team at this point: lvl 40 Fraxure, Lvl 39 Emolga, Lvl 46 Floatzel, Lvl 45 Altaria, Lvl 50 Excadrill and a lvl 100 Serperior. I was 7 with pokemon Black 2 as my first pokemon game.
Ahh, generation 5, the second generation I played, and with the knowledge I obtained from Pearl, I made sure to grind my Pokémon to great levels, and thanks to the internet being popular, my 12 year old self(I actually got white a year late, and still managed to get Victini, because it simply gave me it without having to fight it, ha ha) managed to find out the best Pokémon to catch and level to powerful levels, so when I got to the elite four, I was pretty much carried by my Victini and Serperior, the former being a good level since it was a good 30 levels higher than my strongest Pokémon when I got it, and the latter because I just loved my Serperior that much!
No battle in the series has ever come as close as any of these Four to making me feel like I went in totally unprepared. After this, Gens VI and VII felt too easy with the way exp gain worked, and I feel like it might not be a coincidence. Ah. Back in 2011 when my jaw dropped realizing I get to choose who I can fight first.
And I still fought them in order anyway.
So what was the order
im assuming left to right thats how i always did it.
Garreth Avery ghost, dark, psychic then fighting obviously!

Then coming back and realizing they’re 10 levels stronger shredded it even more.
Game Freak has yet to top this elite four theme. Nothing really hits you as strong as the beginning to this theme. It screams in your face, "You better be prepared!"
I think it really shows the desperate situation, the fate of all pokemon rests on you not screwing up this fight
TBH I kinda like Pokemon X and Y when you put it to a metal track
The beginning also gets you pumped as it slowly builds. It puts pressure on the player and makes them more anxious
Nothing will ever beat the "duh nuh duh nuh duh nuh duh nuh duh nuh"
But let's be honest, Cynthia's Champion theme is still best
Generation V is the most underrated generation out there.
