You do upgrade the equipments by using them. There is no currency tho. But it is great for owning a lot of cars since you don't have to buy them. Let's say in heat there are 132 cars and how many have you driven? Probably not even half. But in hp or mw 2012 you could literally drive everyone of them. That's one major difference no one talks about. Ofc for Theo it's not a problem he be grinding the game 24x7. This buying cars works great in single player. But is definitely not so great in mp.

The Rivals score is genuinely fucking phenomenal, it is so intense and anxiety and stress inducing Trying to escape as a racer with barely any health while the Redview County Police throw everything they've got at you is already amazing, but when those intensity 3 tracks kick in, it's a right out horror game for racers

It's all made worse by how how coordinated they are, if it's one thing I've noticed with these cops, is that if you get hit by one of their weapons and spin out, all the other cop AIs will instinctively turn on their weapons as well, whether it's Helicopters, ESF, or EMPs It's incredible what Criterion and Ghost Games managed to create in the stupidly short time window they had to create this game

@@BlackPanthaa There is progression. Instead of progressing one crap car all the way to the top, you progress by unlocking faster cars. The emphases is on the cars themselves rather than what you do to them, which is why supercars were the focus of these games.
Real men know hot pursuit 2010 is a stand alone classic every game has something they do better than the other but imo hot pursuit takes the win. I played 7000+hrs on hot pursuit and like 50 on rivals 😂
Career in Hot Pursuit is just practice/training for the mayhem that is online. Online is a different animal if you're going up against skilled maniacs. The thing about Hot Pursuit Online is that there was never a dull moment. Edit: In Hot Pursuit the opponents racers NEVER used their weapons against you if you were the racer and if you take them down, it's only temporary they do come back just like Burnout. Rivals on the other wheel, the racers are not friends and they will attack you (it's Arms Race 24/7) and if you take them down here, they're out of the race event which kind of contradicts what Zephyr said in the story about teaming up.
Most likely, they weren't going to be hostile to racers. If you notice in trailers and beta gameplay, there were clearly more characters in the story. Or, to put it simply, the whole story was clearly different. Remember, they got their development time cut short. So there's a good chance a lot of content was cut during the late stages of the game and possibly having to redo a lot on a short notice.
This is probably one of the worst takes in this community, just because it’s not your favorite doesn’t mean it’s bad. Hot Pursuit is one of the best games in the series, while Rivals is also a really fun game.
Oh and I forgot to mention that Theo himself is the reason why the community is so fucking delusional. He's pushing the tuning culture and customization so that most NFS games will stick to it's old Black Box roots like the OG Most Wanted and Carbon had.

Another way to access the offline version of the game is to sign out of your PSN account before starting the game up. Then, when you start the game up and it asks if you want to sign in, just say no.
Nfs rivals was my 1st PS3 NFS game, its cops are the most insane thing, love entering the game just to create chaos and carnage just for the sake of it

The fact that u listed hot pursuit as one of the worst NFS games instead of NFS 2015 is absolutely insane and it just further proves my point. Plus u said that it 'feels like an arcade machine game' which by that logic every other modern NFS game feels like an arcade machine game. The simplicity, no corny storyline, the car sounds, no customization (so that u can't turn the Murcielago LP 640 or the Aston DBS into an abomination), the online multiplayer, the satisfying game mechanics, the perfect brake2drift handling model, the beautiful and diverse map, the car list, little details like the narrator telling u all the facts about your favourite supercar/hypercar, the sense of speed and the fact that u can just relax and choose to free roam with your favourite supercar/hypercar without the cops constantly trying to kill u (like in rivals) is what makes this game feel so much more fun and more polished than the braindead and unbelievably corny NFS games like NFS unbound, MW 05, 2015, payback, heat etc. It feels like a game made for car enthusiasts compared to NFS unbound etc. which just panders to braindead MW 05 fanboys and 12 year old Supra kids

I will never ever hate NFS Hot Pursuit. The insanity of the cops, the sense of speed. I can live without customization of the cars when the insanity of the races are that fun.
Rivals could have been a successor to the Hot Pursuit series, but the amount of bugs and glitches really killed the game's potential, and the pvp system on paper looks good, but hot pursuit pvp is much better. Freeroam Cops vs Racers is really difficult to do imo.
Blame that to EA for cutting development short. It had quite a lot removed during development. Story was different, sounds, detail, sfx, the game would have been polished a whole lot better if they weren't cut short.
Rivals cops test: *starts the race on a McLaren P1, which one is like one of the fastest cars in the game*. Hot pursuit test: *starts the freaking second or third race of the whole game*. RiVaLs DeFiNeTeLy TaKeS tHiS rOuNd. And that's the whole comparision. I personally think, that Rivals is just a boring game - the dark atmosphere is more like a minus rather than plus, the graphics are absolute monstrosity with useless unrealistic billions of effects. The hot pursuit instead has vibes of flying through the most beautiful seaside landscapes at very high speeds - pretty simple altitude, but it really works for me.
NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 is a classic. Great car list, game play, had the nostalgic Classic NFS era feel to it. The Pre Underground series. NFS Rivals is similar. If you grew up with the classic era of NFS from 1994-2003, than you would appreciate the two games. Hot Pursuit and Rivals had the classic NFS Feel to them. They were the furthest thing from the worst games tbh.

Handling is paps, cops are garbo, but everything else is substantially better than rivals, down to atmosphere, feel, graphics, customization, career, ect. Nope, Hot Pursuit is the better game (also it's my favourite non-Black Box NFS so it's not even close to "the worst" NFS imo) A couple of minor corrections: - Interceptor mode in Hot Pursuit is not on a set path. The racer can take any path at junctions and can even do a 180 (I found it very irritating when they did that x3) - NFS Rivals is not always online
Many people do because Rivals was regarded trash during it's launch. And as the years go by people start to love playing it which it doesn't even make fucking sense. Rivals in general is just Zetsubou no Shima of NFS. Both are underrated. If you're a COD Zombies player you truly know Zetsubou why it's hated at launch, same thing with Rivals.

@@BlackPanthaa Theo, listen. Nfs Shift isn't your favorite NFS even when it has a whole new and different gameplay in NFS series. So you're not clear what you want. Different races, and pursuit events have been there from the start of NFS and in NFS HP 2010 you play these gameplays in two different perspective, better than any nfs after or before. It's about how you excute these gameplays. That is what NFS HP 2010 did right and its sucessors failed at, till today.
NFS Rivals essentially builds on Criterion’s Hot Pursuit formula and added free roam which definitely added to the multiplayer experience. It’s Burnout Paradise but with cops, licensed cars, and weapons. I would prefer the classic Hot Pursuit formula with no weapons and no brake to drift, but since the old Hot Pursuit format would probably not draw as much interest with the current player base and customization is not the point with Hot Pursuit and Rivals, it makes sense the developers would need to try something different to draw more players to the game.
I mean, rivals is hot pursuit 2. Just with more added to it. In fact, there would have been way more if development wasn't cut short. So lots of content was cut and you can definitely tell it has some unfinished mechanics and features.
Hot Pursuit 3 was what ignited my love of fast cars when I was 6. I didn’t care about customizations because just getting to drive a Lamborghini Countach at high speed was all I wanted. So when these “hot pursuit styled” games come out, I’m on board.

Uh... Let's not mention Undercover under the same hat as the other games. It is CLEARLY, and obviously LEAGUES above ALL NFS titles for featuring Donkey Kong from Mario 64. Truly the pinnacle of racing games.
imma be honest, I loved Rivals, not because of story or customisation, but because of the cops. One of my favourite NFS games because unlike most recent NFS games you literally ''NEED THE SPEED'' and for that Rivals is a great ''escape the cops'' game rather than whatever NFS 2015, payback and unbound do
I can't say NFS rivals or HP are the worst or anywhere near bad, when Undercover exists. That game, is honestly awful, the only slightly redeeming factor is it's carlist and alright story, compared to the games that came before it, its handling, physics and graphics are awful, the customization feels less than previous games like carbon, prostreet. And the open world couldn't feel any deader, atleast with carbon's open world theres music while you drive and the map is small enough to not feel like you're just endlessly driving and is actually fun, undercover freeroam is jusy boring and frustrating at times due to the handling and AI drivers. Rivals and HP are good, while they do have flaws, they don't feel as drastic as undercover.

hot pursuit is for men rivals for the boys btw i played both so much, hot pursuit is a polished games with old mechanics and modern graphics, rivals on the other hand is a broken mess full of glitch, bug and internet problems, and the game in general in not balanced, hot pursuit its easy to play for non-fan people, while rivals its so ultra complicated to learn. imo if u want just to play and have some fun after a work day just play hot pursuit man, and if u really are mad with yourself play rivals, the game with the most amount of bugs i ever seen.

Nfs 3 hotpursuit, high stakes, hotpursuit 2 were all of the same DNA. That was what nfs was. Influencers like this have given the wrong feedback and ruined nfs. Customisation is like a dessert, it's of no use without a full meal ( main core game). The state of nfs unbound speaks for itself.
Well said. The Classic NFS Era is where all it started. If they were massive failures, none of the NFS games starting from 2003 having customization parts would exist in the first place. In any racing games, the gameplay mechanics, the handling physics, the replayability factor, the engine sounds/musics and the map design are the most important criterias. And Yes. Customization is only a bonus. The state of NFS games since 2015 is ruined. Moreover, their handling model is utterly flawed and there's not much contents to keep playing enough. That's because they're all unfinished games.
@@MobDKGr need for speed used to be one of the biggest franchises if you were there from the 90s. After nfs 2015 it has gone off the radar like you said. Nfs used to be really good and it was mainly an arcade single player racing game and unbound has nothing in terms of singleplayer. It breaks my heart to see 2 of my favourite game series become non existent. ( burnout and need for speed ).

Which means Singleplayer users were falsely advertised/hoped and wasted their money. The reason why the Burnout series was stopped is because Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry which were the creative directors of Burnout quits EA in January 2014. Afterwards, they created their indie studio called Three Fields Entertainment. They made Danger Zone and Dangerous Driving. Before Alex Ward quits Criterion Games and EA, he cut his staff to 80 peoples which were relegated as Ghost Games UK devs while the 17 remaining stayed at Criterion as a support studio for other EA titles. That means the current Criterion iteration is in-title only and most employees are ex-Ghost Games devs.
@@MobDKGr yeah. Back in the day NFS sequels kept adding new modes. Like drag racing in underground, open world in underground 2, drift events , free roam cops in most wanted, crew racing and canyon racing in carbon, but after spending a lot of time with unbound it has like 2 events - race and that score event. Cops serve no role in unbound. They are just there as a hindrance to stop you from going to the meet-ups. They aren't aggressive but just nagging around us. There isn't even a cash prize or bounty reward for escaping cops ( the cash rewards are 2000 and less). The race courses are only a dozen because after a few in game days the circuits and courses keep repeating itself. Every nfs game had like 60 plus events if I'm right. The story is god awful. The final race is literally pointless. The singleplayer garage and leaderboards don't transfer over to multiplayer like in heat. I don't have any grudge against this channel but the feedback he gives isn't correct. Nfs 2015 had broken physics , payback was literally ruined with just one mechanic - speed cards. Heat was the only modern game that was trying to go in the right direction.

The amount of gameplay modes during the 1994-2011 period were more varied and plenty. NFS since 2015 are a pile of jokes besides them. Speaking of NFS Unbound, the main storyline is a crappy attempt and a NFS MW 2005 repeat. It's also an illogical Butterfly Effect. What i mean is if Yaz didn't throw a childish tantrum, never stole Rydell's cars which nearly caused his bankruptcy as well as your car, if she never crossed the path of Alec (Alec is the main culprit of everything that happens in the story Except he never shows up) and if she was honest with herself while telling her feelings, the story wouldn't happened in the first place. Moreover, the main objective which is to get back your car stolen by Yaz become pointless since you get better cars during your journey and Yaz herself isn't punished for what she has done. That doesn't make any logical sense and the build up to get back your car is flawed to the core.
Hot Pursuit is a timeless formula of the original NFS essence : Cops vs Racers. Rivals is basicaly Battlefield with cars, with a good map. No customization ? Dont care, these games are fun
This "boat" feeling is what made each car unique, they have different weights, max turning angels, control of front and rear during drift... Your friend played like a dork in one of the slower car classes. The difficulty is much higher with faster cars. Everything feels the "same" because he drove them the same, far from max speed, where the individual car's characteristics become more impactful and apparent. This comparison is pretty poor.
These two are Hypercars and Supercars ERA ,nowdays its all about customization dont get me wrong i like customization but the feel of hypercars going is on another level not like some puny RSR is beating P1 GTR or rgera that is not acceptable.

Unpopular opinion: I really enjoyed NFS Rivals, I mean the chance to have players playing cops trying to take you down is so competitively exciting! I wish to bring such gameplay back, I'd say RIVALS was my favorite NFS.

DUDE RIVALS LOOKS AMAZING, AND RUNS AMAZING. As long as you set it up took me a minute to get 60fps it was locked at like 720p 30fps for some reason. Customization hasn’t been the best however I haven’t had this much fun since I was a kid outside of drifting on unbound, I’m currently enjoying it more than payback by far I’m enjoying it more than unbound to be honest sometning about the tasks feel more like tasks that you can do vs unbound yes you can do them but ehhhhhhh.

I definitely thought Hot Pursuit was much better. I never enjoyed Rivals. We know Rivals was rushed, and you could feel it too. Hot Pursuit had "soul", it was a cohesive well put together package. From the small things like audio design in pursuit abilities, like turbo for example, to UI and map design. Rivals in comparison is like an engine tech demo. Hot Pursuit 2010 is one of my favorite racing games ever, I have played through it multiple times over the years. So I'm probably biased, but I love the game.
for need for speed rival, if you just want to play alone offline without a risk of disconnect, you can go to all drive settings in the hideout and choose the mode there. (single player exist). but, the game will still not launch later when the server are 100% off since it always launch in online mode.
Rivals have unique cars on both sides and pursuit tech , HP has almost every car is currently available on both sides , Visual customisation is available in Rivals and HP Remastered in an update. I'll say both are best but Rivals is goated because the intense of the cop chases
The cop mode is the reason these 2 are my favourites. If every NFS had a cop mode, these 2 might not be my favourite as chasing custom racers as the HSTF seems fun as opposed to vehiclrle warfare
Hot pursuit has much better multiplayer gameplay balance(yes there is some op cars). Including map design. Every path and shortcut are well designed and have a reason. Not just randomly add many meaningless path and call it openworld. Handling in Rivals is really feel the same on all cars. When HP actually feel different depends on engine positon/weight. And I hate shockwave spam in rivals mp races. Also because there is no parts upgrade in HP. It is lot easier to get close racing / fair racing on mp. In Rivals it is always matchmaking with under power / low level new players in the room.
I’ve played rivals on the ps3 and it’s been pretty good for me. Only problem is with prob be the map glitch, where you get stuck or freeze, but those only happen when I’m in a long game session.
"The best of the worst" is just clickbait. Undercover on PS3/XBox 360 objectively is the worst with it's many performance issues, bad storyline, a shotty revamp of Prostreet's handling model, and the unfortunate circumstances of BlackBox and how they not only had to keep pumping out yearly releases at the time, but also had their team split by EA with some assisting development on Skate 3 and one other project (I forgot what it was). Even Nitro despite being a weird Mario Kart like cartoon racer at least performs well enough on the Wii (inferior hardware to it's counterparts). Hot Pursuit and Rivals were Criterion's way of trying to bring a fresh take to the OG NFS games with a new version of Burnout's handling model (since that's what they knew how to implement). Now I like customization as much as the next Underground/Most Wanted fanboy, but frankly the lack of it is an anthill that fans blew up into a mountain as the supercars that make up the rosters of Hot Pursuit and Rivals are beautiful enough on their own, and the experience should always put the driving first (pretty much the reason there were complaints about too much avatar clothing in Unbound LOL). I think the problem people REALLY have with brake to drift in NFS is because its a constant reminder of the franchise EA abandoned (Burnout), and that because of this reminder it "just isn't NFS", yet when I play Hot Pursuit or Rivals it still feels like NFS to me.
I haven't played Need for Speed Rivals but I saw the campaign, online, etc. It's at the second most epic game I wanted to play someday. Maybe Need for Speed Mobile will compare or reuse the same way to Need for Speed Rivals.

I honestly love both of these games what I find w Rivals is more of an Intense game itself & its story + Zephyr on who we play as is like some mysterious character in the lore of rivals itself & the cops are a lot more aggressive than any other nfs game besides heat I’d say rivals is my top favourite game in the franchise & its a proper nfs game & feels like I said “intense” nothing compared like hot pursuit. Especially with the cop side as well, & they’re a lot more car options to choose from, but I do love myself a bit of hot pursuit myself as well, I just don’t really appeal towards HP than Rivals but the only thing that doesn’t make sense w HP is its story there’s barely anything in that besides Rivals where it actually has something to pay attention to. That’s all of what I’ve got to say I still love HP obviously & the only thing I love about Pursuit is that they’re a lot more cars. Thing I forgot to mention w rivals compared to Pursuit is the pursuit tech u can actually use something against to defeat the cops unlike HP has ever done.
I only like NFS titles that I can play offline while having the experience of online. So I'd pick Rivals. The world is atleast active, although hot pursuit is more down to earth in its roots of the old NFS, it just feels weird driving around the open world, without your fellow a.i racers or cops. Although the npc traffic is there, it's just eerie. I just hope that the customizations on modern nfs titles isn't too much because back in UG2 and MW 05, there's some kits that look good and others that are..... let's just say for some "niche"people. Also weapons should return because it's nice to have a way to troll ai cops while also having their aggression turned up to 11 because why not.
Really not many people understand the charm of hot pursuit, it's the simplicity that makes it so good. Nothing matches it, the best nfs game in my opinion. I do think Rivals is good as well tho, I just think customisation isn't everything.
Honestly I only played hot pursuit remastered I have to say I like it more than rivals by just seeing the game play and in hot pursuit There is pendulum which I like 3 songs from pendulum
rivals is better then hot pursuit I would agree in all grounds the cops are more brutal however the handling in hot pursuit is by far better I have to use the cheat engine to hack the speed and the trials are insanely a pain in the butt in rivals its down to the nano seconds to get gold but other then that I love hot pursuit and rivals but the cops if you run straight pass a cop car they come after you no matter what you can't go under the speed limit and pretend you aint doing anything wrong so however the weapons are better in hot pursuit since you get four of them in rivals you can only choose two pursuit tech in rivals which I don't car for but I will revisit them every now again it's too bad that no one is playing online mode on rivals a whole lot anymore not since the next gen of need for speed came out if I were going to make another need for speed it would be a combination of rivals and hot pursuit. rivals cops large map hot pursuit handling and hot pursuit weapons that's gotta be in the next game and have a bunch of steam trophies to get that's what's need for speed games. if you agree please like
Great thing about Rivals is that it was brutal in a logical manner that got progressively more chaotic and scary. Thing I always got frustrated with Hot Pursuit is that it would be easy as hell and then all of the sudden there would be that one unsurvivable hot pursuit that cuts your playthrough short. Literally just tough shit, no way to get through it to get forward. Never threw a game that I actually liked back on the shelf faster :D
Hot Pursuit shows why gameplay is so important. On paper, it should be boring. Yet it's the most fun I've had in any Need for Speed game. I wish NFS focused on being stupidly fun, cops vs racers games, like the original NFS games.

You do upgrade the equipments by using them. There is no currency tho. But it is great for owning a lot of cars since you don't have to buy them. Let's say in heat there are 132 cars and how many have you driven? Probably not even half. But in hp or mw 2012 you could literally drive everyone of them. That's one major difference no one talks about. Ofc for Theo it's not a problem he be grinding the game 24x7. This buying cars works great in single player. But is definitely not so great in mp.

Career in Hot Pursuit is just practice/training for the mayhem that is online. Online is a different animal if you're going up against skilled maniacs. The thing about Hot Pursuit Online is that there was never a dull moment.
Edit: In Hot Pursuit the opponents racers NEVER used their weapons against you if you were the racer and if you take them down, it's only temporary they do come back just like Burnout. Rivals on the other wheel, the racers are not friends and they will attack you (it's Arms Race 24/7) and if you take them down here, they're out of the race event which kind of contradicts what Zephyr said in the story about teaming up.
Most likely, they weren't going to be hostile to racers. If you notice in trailers and beta gameplay, there were clearly more characters in the story. Or, to put it simply, the whole story was clearly different. Remember, they got their development time cut short. So there's a good chance a lot of content was cut during the late stages of the game and possibly having to redo a lot on a short notice.
What's about The Arms race mode ?

This is probably one of the worst takes in this community, just because it’s not your favorite doesn’t mean it’s bad. Hot Pursuit is one of the best games in the series, while Rivals is also a really fun game.
This is why NFS is in that state. He is the one ruining the franchise and one of the die hard fans on copium. He's praising MW 2005 like a God.
Oh and I forgot to mention that Theo himself is the reason why the community is so fucking delusional. He's pushing the tuning culture and customization so that most NFS games will stick to it's old Black Box roots like the OG Most Wanted and Carbon had.

Another way to access the offline version of the game is to sign out of your PSN account before starting the game up. Then, when you start the game up and it asks if you want to sign in, just say no.

NFS HP is definitely on the higher Tier, bro is tripping.
Rivals could have been a successor to the Hot Pursuit series, but the amount of bugs and glitches really killed the game's potential, and the pvp system on paper looks good, but hot pursuit pvp is much better.
Freeroam Cops vs Racers is really difficult to do imo.
Blame that to EA for cutting development short. It had quite a lot removed during development. Story was different, sounds, detail, sfx, the game would have been polished a whole lot better if they weren't cut short.
Rivals cops test: *starts the race on a McLaren P1, which one is like one of the fastest cars in the game*.
Hot pursuit test: *starts the freaking second or third race of the whole game*.

I personally think, that Rivals is just a boring game - the dark atmosphere is more like a minus rather than plus, the graphics are absolute monstrosity with useless unrealistic billions of effects. The hot pursuit instead has vibes of flying through the most beautiful seaside landscapes at very high speeds - pretty simple altitude, but it really works for me.
NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 is a classic. Great car list, game play, had the nostalgic Classic NFS era feel to it. The Pre Underground series.
NFS Rivals is similar.
If you grew up with the classic era of NFS from 1994-2003, than you would appreciate the two games.

Hey now... These games were what I played in late high school. Some of my best years timing the NOS to 'Edge of the Earth' and just being immersed in casual gameplay and seemingly endless open highways.
Nope, Hot Pursuit is the better game (also it's my favourite non-Black Box NFS so it's not even close to "the worst" NFS imo)
A couple of minor corrections:
- Interceptor mode in Hot Pursuit is not on a set path. The racer can take any path at junctions and can even do a 180 (I found it very irritating when they did that x3)
- NFS Rivals is not always online

Many people do because Rivals was regarded trash during it's launch. And as the years go by people start to love playing it which it doesn't even make fucking sense. Rivals in general is just Zetsubou no Shima of NFS. Both are underrated. If you're a COD Zombies player you truly know Zetsubou why it's hated at launch, same thing with Rivals.

@@BlackPanthaa Theo, listen. Nfs Shift isn't your favorite NFS even when it has a whole new and different gameplay in NFS series. So you're not clear what you want. Different races, and pursuit events have been there from the start of NFS and in NFS HP 2010 you play these gameplays in two different perspective, better than any nfs after or before. It's about how you excute these gameplays. That is what NFS HP 2010 did right and its sucessors failed at, till today.
NFS Rivals essentially builds on Criterion’s Hot Pursuit formula and added free roam which definitely added to the multiplayer experience. It’s Burnout Paradise but with cops, licensed cars, and weapons. I would prefer the classic Hot Pursuit formula with no weapons and no brake to drift, but since the old Hot Pursuit format would probably not draw as much interest with the current player base and customization is not the point with Hot Pursuit and Rivals, it makes sense the developers would need to try something different to draw more players to the game.
I mean, rivals is hot pursuit 2. Just with more added to it. In fact, there would have been way more if development wasn't cut short. So lots of content was cut and you can definitely tell it has some unfinished mechanics and features.
Hot Pursuit 3 was what ignited my love of fast cars when I was 6. I didn’t care about customizations because just getting to drive a Lamborghini Countach at high speed was all I wanted. So when these “hot pursuit styled” games come out, I’m on board.

I can't say NFS rivals or HP are the worst or anywhere near bad, when Undercover exists. That game, is honestly awful, the only slightly redeeming factor is it's carlist and alright story, compared to the games that came before it, its handling, physics and graphics are awful, the customization feels less than previous games like carbon, prostreet. And the open world couldn't feel any deader, atleast with carbon's open world theres music while you drive and the map is small enough to not feel like you're just endlessly driving and is actually fun, undercover freeroam is jusy boring and frustrating at times due to the handling and AI drivers.
Rivals and HP are good, while they do have flaws, they don't feel as drastic as undercover.

The reason why the Burnout series was stopped is because Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry which were the creative directors of Burnout quits EA in January 2014.
Afterwards, they created their indie studio called Three Fields Entertainment.
They made Danger Zone and Dangerous Driving.
Before Alex Ward quits Criterion Games and EA, he cut his staff to 80 peoples which were relegated as Ghost Games UK devs while the 17 remaining stayed at Criterion as a support studio for other EA titles.
That means the current Criterion iteration is in-title only and most employees are ex-Ghost Games devs.

Like drag racing in underground, open world in underground 2, drift events , free roam cops in most wanted, crew racing and canyon racing in carbon, but after spending a lot of time with unbound it has like 2 events - race and that score event. Cops serve no role in unbound. They are just there as a hindrance to stop you from going to the meet-ups. They aren't aggressive but just nagging around us. There isn't even a cash prize or bounty reward for escaping cops ( the cash rewards are 2000 and less). The race courses are only a dozen because after a few in game days the circuits and courses keep repeating itself. Every nfs game had like 60 plus events if I'm right. The story is god awful. The final race is literally pointless. The singleplayer garage and leaderboards don't transfer over to multiplayer like in heat. I don't have any grudge against this channel but the feedback he gives isn't correct. Nfs 2015 had broken physics , payback was literally ruined with just one mechanic - speed cards. Heat was the only modern game that was trying to go in the right direction.

What i mean is if Yaz didn't throw a childish tantrum, never stole Rydell's cars which nearly caused his bankruptcy as well as your car, if she never crossed the path of Alec (Alec is the main culprit of everything that happens in the story Except he never shows up) and if she was honest with herself while telling her feelings, the story wouldn't happened in the first place.
Moreover, the main objective which is to get back your car stolen by Yaz become pointless since you get better cars during your journey and Yaz herself isn't punished for what she has done. That doesn't make any logical sense and the build up to get back your car is flawed to the core.

Hot Pursuit is a timeless formula of the original NFS essence : Cops vs Racers. Rivals is basicaly Battlefield with cars, with a good map. No customization ? Dont care, these games are fun

Unpopular opinion: I really enjoyed NFS Rivals, I mean the chance to have players playing cops trying to take you down is so competitively exciting!

DUDE RIVALS LOOKS AMAZING, AND RUNS AMAZING. As long as you set it up took me a minute to get 60fps it was locked at like 720p 30fps for some reason. Customization hasn’t been the best however I haven’t had this much fun since I was a kid outside of drifting on unbound, I’m currently enjoying it more than payback by far I’m enjoying it more than unbound to be honest sometning about the tasks feel more like tasks that you can do vs unbound yes you can do them but ehhhhhhh.

I definitely thought Hot Pursuit was much better. I never enjoyed Rivals. We know Rivals was rushed, and you could feel it too. Hot Pursuit had "soul", it was a cohesive well put together package. From the small things like audio design in pursuit abilities, like turbo for example, to UI and map design. Rivals in comparison is like an engine tech demo. Hot Pursuit 2010 is one of my favorite racing games ever, I have played through it multiple times over the years. So I'm probably biased, but I love the game.

for need for speed rival, if you just want to play alone offline without a risk of disconnect, you can go to all drive settings in the hideout and choose the mode there. (single player exist). but, the game will still not launch later when the server are 100% off since it always launch in online mode.
Rivals have unique cars on both sides and pursuit tech , HP has almost every car is currently available on both sides , Visual customisation is available in Rivals and HP Remastered in an update. I'll say both are best but Rivals is goated because the intense of the cop chases
Hot Pursuit is miles better than any NFS game in the last 10 years and Rivals only recently became playable on pc.

The cop mode is the reason these 2 are my favourites. If every NFS had a cop mode, these 2 might not be my favourite as chasing custom racers as the HSTF seems fun as opposed to vehiclrle warfare

Hot pursuit has much better multiplayer gameplay balance(yes there is some op cars). Including map design. Every path and shortcut are well designed and have a reason.
Not just randomly add many meaningless path and call it openworld.
Handling in Rivals is really feel the same on all cars. When HP actually feel different depends on engine positon/weight.
And I hate shockwave spam in rivals mp races.
Also because there is no parts upgrade in HP. It is lot easier to get close racing / fair racing on mp.
In Rivals it is always matchmaking with under power / low level new players in the room.
I’ve played rivals on the ps3 and it’s been pretty good for me.
Only problem is with prob be the map glitch, where you get stuck or freeze, but those only happen when I’m in a long game session.

"The best of the worst" is just clickbait. Undercover on PS3/XBox 360 objectively is the worst with it's many performance issues, bad storyline, a shotty revamp of Prostreet's handling model, and the unfortunate circumstances of BlackBox and how they not only had to keep pumping out yearly releases at the time, but also had their team split by EA with some assisting development on Skate 3 and one other project (I forgot what it was). Even Nitro despite being a weird Mario Kart like cartoon racer at least performs well enough on the Wii (inferior hardware to it's counterparts). Hot Pursuit and Rivals were Criterion's way of trying to bring a fresh take to the OG NFS games with a new version of Burnout's handling model (since that's what they knew how to implement). Now I like customization as much as the next Underground/Most Wanted fanboy, but frankly the lack of it is an anthill that fans blew up into a mountain as the supercars that make up the rosters of Hot Pursuit and Rivals are beautiful enough on their own, and the experience should always put the driving first (pretty much the reason there were complaints about too much avatar clothing in Unbound LOL). I think the problem people REALLY have with brake to drift in NFS is because its a constant reminder of the franchise EA abandoned (Burnout), and that because of this reminder it "just isn't NFS", yet when I play Hot Pursuit or Rivals it still feels like NFS to me.
I haven't played Need for Speed Rivals but I saw the campaign, online, etc. It's at the second most epic game I wanted to play someday. Maybe Need for Speed Mobile will compare or reuse the same way to Need for Speed Rivals.

For me, I still love NFS Street Era (Underground 1 to Carbon) but I say NFS Supercar Era is the coolest era (Hot pursuit to Rivals).
I honestly love both of these games what I find w Rivals is more of an Intense game itself & its story + Zephyr on who we play as is like some mysterious character in the lore of rivals itself & the cops are a lot more aggressive than any other nfs game besides heat I’d say rivals is my top favourite game in the franchise & its a proper nfs game & feels like I said “intense” nothing compared like hot pursuit. Especially with the cop side as well, & they’re a lot more car options to choose from, but I do love myself a bit of hot pursuit myself as well, I just don’t really appeal towards HP than Rivals but the only thing that doesn’t make sense w HP is its story there’s barely anything in that besides Rivals where it actually has something to pay attention to. That’s all of what I’ve got to say I still love HP obviously & the only thing I love about Pursuit is that they’re a lot more cars. Thing I forgot to mention w rivals compared to Pursuit is the pursuit tech u can actually use something against to defeat the cops unlike HP has ever done.
I only like NFS titles that I can play offline while having the experience of online.
So I'd pick Rivals. The world is atleast active, although hot pursuit is more down to earth in its roots of the old NFS, it just feels weird driving around the open world, without your fellow a.i racers or cops. Although the npc traffic is there, it's just eerie.
I just hope that the customizations on modern nfs titles isn't too much because back in UG2 and MW 05, there's some kits that look good and others that are..... let's just say for some "niche"people.
Also weapons should return because it's nice to have a way to troll ai cops while also having their aggression turned up to 11 because why not.
Really not many people understand the charm of hot pursuit, it's the simplicity that makes it so good. Nothing matches it, the best nfs game in my opinion. I do think Rivals is good as well tho, I just think customisation isn't everything.

Need for speed rivals had a tie from speed of the car to frames per second. (You could increase FPS in config and just speed at infinity.)
Honestly I only played hot pursuit remastered I have to say I like it more than rivals by just seeing the game play and in hot pursuit There is pendulum which I like 3 songs from pendulum
rivals is better then hot pursuit I would agree in all grounds the cops are more brutal however the handling in hot pursuit is by far better I have to use the cheat engine to hack the speed and the trials are insanely a pain in the butt in rivals its down to the nano seconds to get gold but other then that I love hot pursuit and rivals but the cops if you run straight pass a cop car they come after you no matter what you can't go under the speed limit and pretend you aint doing anything wrong so however the weapons are better in hot pursuit since you get four of them in rivals you can only choose two pursuit tech in rivals which I don't car for but I will revisit them every now again it's too bad that no one is playing online mode on rivals a whole lot anymore not since the next gen of need for speed came out if I were going to make another need for speed it would be a combination of rivals and hot pursuit. rivals cops large map hot pursuit handling and hot pursuit weapons that's gotta be in the next game and have a bunch of steam trophies to get that's what's need for speed games. if you agree please like
Great thing about Rivals is that it was brutal in a logical manner that got progressively more chaotic and scary.
Thing I always got frustrated with Hot Pursuit is that it would be easy as hell and then all of the sudden there would be that one unsurvivable hot pursuit that cuts your playthrough short. Literally just tough shit, no way to get through it to get forward.
Never threw a game that I actually liked back on the shelf faster :D
Hot Pursuit shows why gameplay is so important. On paper, it should be boring. Yet it's the most fun I've had in any Need for Speed game. I wish NFS focused on being stupidly fun, cops vs racers games, like the original NFS games.
