Your videos are honestly so amazing, I love the absolute magnficient landscapes we get to see thanks to you. Kudos to you for being able to survive those extreme temperatures, it sounds so harsh but loved the video as always!
I’ll go camping when it’s 30 to 40 below that is the best time because my stoves are too big in our tent. It’s a wonderful time and we’re good to go for at least 14 days.
When I was in the Boy Scouts in Montana (1960s), we would go on one winter camping adventure each year so the new kids could earn their Polar Bear Patch. The coldest I remember it being was -22F. We used canvas wall tents with no floor and no stove. We would heat rocks next to the fire and then place them in the foot of our sleeping bags to keep us warm. We also used "original" space blankets for ground cloths under our sleeping bags. We slept in wool/cotton blend long johns and wore wool socks and stocking hats while in the sleeping bags. Fun times...thanks for the memories!
How incredibly beautiful to see this snowy world with your eyes! Thank you for the ability to show this forest fairy tale, because many people shoot it, but your videos are made with special love,
Thanks Adam. Sorry about the bad food experience. I enjoy your videos. Hot tent camping n the winter is appealing to me. Looking forward to the next camping trip with you. Best regards. Greg / CT USA 15:03
Very enjoyable video. I lived in the arctic and enjoyed camping (tent, hammock or debris shelter) and I only stopped after 32 years because my health took a turn for the worse. but I can still enjoy this through you.. You got my subscription :)
Wow!! That’s winter camping to the extreme! Love the Chester-cam! I don’t blame Joelle for passing on this one, but good for you taking it on. Stay safe, Chris.
So here's a little tip for your tent steak that pulled out. Use what I call a "dead man's " steak. Use two or more sticks bound together in a crosswise configuration. Dig a deep hole in the snow ( this works in sand also) with a rope attached. Bury those sticks with the lead rope out of the snow. Pack it down. Now secure your tent line to the rope sticking out of the snow. Now you're good to go. Have a great day. 🌞
A needle!! Has an eye but cannot see. Good video, I am kind of glad you did not pull out a whole bunch of stuff to make a gourmet meal! Sorry that the freeze dried stuff did a boomerang though🤢. I love the pups enthusiasm running in the snow, and the playfulness, he must have wanted a marsh mellow for grabbing your pillow. My friend and I did a little fishing last week, we had gotten those one person shelters, enough room to sit inside, and used small space heaters to keep warm. A word of caution though, not a good idea to bring Beanie-Weenies! The after effects are like a gas chamber in prison!😂 We did feast on fresh caught Salmon though. Will be watching more of you!
At your 2:33 timed your eye should be one to tighten it up with that one knot to give half a twist to then pull rope from your long end back though and then to use that as a mechanical advantage to tighten the rope up. sorry i have for got the name, loggers hitch is it?? . works well , always have rope lengths longer then is needed!!!
Done that a few times as one of a group of troop leaders who brought a troop of boy scouts to winter camp on Grande Island in Lake Superior, in February. They made snow shelters and camped for three days. No facilities whatsoever.... just what we carried and dragged across the ice from Munising. Afterward, they earned their 'Polar Bear Award." Great fun, a great experience.... and no mosquitoes! No woodstove or other supplemental heat... just gasoline backpack single burner camp stoves to melt snow for water and to heat food.
I just came across your video and I love your dog with the camera!🤗 And here I'm watching your video and I have no heat! 😂 I'm under two blankets and my daughter's German Shepherd named Snitchzel next to me.
Love it! Missed Joelle on this one, but it was mighty cold. Stove seemed to work just great even in the extreme cold. You're probably better off bringing an easy meal to prepare instead of that freeze dried stuff, but I get not having to haul the gear and food etc. Maybe just chili that you already prepared at home. How do you not have more subscribers?
How about a needle. I like Packit Gourmet. for my meals and of course some of the Mountain House ones to. That Chester is some watchdog. That was some snow and cold for sure. Still a good time. Take care, Al
I have camped in temperatures lower than -33 F without a stove. I didn't enjoy it, it was very cold and I spent most of my time trying to stay warm, which meant being in a sleeping bag for long hours. I was also tent camping and had lots of problems with the tent laying on my face after a bad snowstorm. If I had had a 4 season tent those problems would have been less, but the cold would have still been the issue. My bag was rated for -10 F, but I had to sleep with long johns, two pairs of socks, a neck gaiter, wool camp and a jacket to be warm enough to sleep. Needless to say, that was my first and last time camping below zero F.
I don't think I have ever heard someone say "a nice 17 degrees" LOL. I have to give you credit for this one-not just anyone can tent in those temps. Those temps were NO joke. I'm glad Chester came along and kept you company...what a good boy! Missed Joelle and I would have to say you did too. Great video-and balls of solid rock my friend!
Well, she was smart enough to stay home and pass on the frozen tent trip. Plus you had to cook for yourself. Which looks like it didnt go well at either end. Shes not gonna let you forget this one for awhile.
Some freeze dried brands are better than others, and some meals are better than others. Plain pasta with your preferred sauce is probably a safer bet. Rice is usually pretty good also.
Depends on what kind of sleeping bag you have, but in my experience from a whole bunch of FDF winter survival training/fieldcraft, sleeping in more clothing than just boxers, some socks and maybe a wool cap (or equiv.) on your head is actually pretty counterproductive. A lot of instructors say you just end up sweating inside the bag, and the moisture just makes you feel colder. Then again there's almost always been 8-10 guys in the same tent running fire watch all night to keep the temperature pretty even so maybe it's different when it's a solo trip. But if you have a good winter sleeping bag that works in very low temperatures, consider trying just socks, boxers, and if you want to poke your head out of the bag, a hat.
I live on Reunion island, sometimes I camp at 3000 meter altitude in winter, even on a tropical island that means -5 Celsius, with wind chill maybe -12° at night, I need to take the utmost effort to not die of cold. Okay, no stove, maybe that makes the difference.
Would it not have been easier to take advantage of the trees, which would provide some protection and also better anchor points for the guy ropes? Not hating, just saying?
It never ceases to amaze me how you and others go through all of that for one night....
it never ceases to amaze me how you and others can come up with such stupid comments..please go back to sleep
ps...never leave snow on your tent..around the bottom for banking but never on top
They wouldn't have any content if they didn't.
The B real is real B!
Ikr stay for a weekend at least, who goes camping for one day it don't make scence
Hi Adam. Connie from Pennsylvania. The answer to your riddle is “A Needle!”
Definitely appreciate the Fahrenheit conversion!!! Thank You!
Curiously enough, in the UK we often state above freezing temps in Fahrenheit, but below in Centigrade (old money!)

I would say the answer is either a needle or a hurricane. Stay warm!🥶

My answer may be wrong, then - A blind one-eyed dwarf.
A needle, that's good. All I could think of was a hurricane.
Gret having that floor and man's best friend!
Love your beautiful dog, and really enjoyed this video!

First time viewer...and now subscribed! Really enjoyed this video!
That's a very cold night. The wood stove did a good job though. You have a very nice dog.

Sewing needle, fishing hook, hurricane, tornado, there are too many things with a single eye that cannot see.
How about a needle. I like Packit Gourmet. for my meals and of course some of the Mountain House ones to. That Chester is some watchdog. That was some snow and cold for sure. Still a good time. Take care, Al
Darling chocolate lab! Great companion!
I wonder what Chester heard or could smell? Good doggo!

17 Celsius is in the low 60’s Fahrenheit. Manageable in the middle of a Canadian winter.
Absolutely f***cking amazing
What cozy fun.
Wow 🥶
PS a needle !!? ( the one eyed thing ). Also whats the thing on your dogs back with the light ? Looks like a tracker or is it just a light?
11:33 Labradors are the best
awww the doggers got me. ❤
Always travel with Imodium AD!
Enjoyed your video from the comfort of my couch. 👍
The other thing to do is to shovel the snow away from the bottom of the tent so more can fall off and have some place to go to.
Well, she was smart enough to stay home and pass on the frozen tent trip. Plus you had to cook for yourself. Which looks like it didnt go well at either end. Shes not gonna let you forget this one for awhile.
She she she. Do you not use names
