#16 | THE SIMPSON DESERT - Sand, Sky & The Endless Silence

- wewillroam.com | Crossing the Simpson Desert was a bucket-list achievement for both of us. Leaving the Red Centre behind, we headed into the remote reaches of the Simpson to clear skies, starry nights and not a single soul in sight. It's the loneliest, yet most at-peace we've felt in a long, long time.

My heart aches so much, I need to return to The Simpson just one more time before I shuffle of this mortal coil. I am so glad I rediscovered your channel. I’m going to watch this again now on the big screen and I can’t wait until the day comes when I return for my 5th & final crossing. Part of me will always remain out there ❤️💕💙
If that shot of the stars over the troopy isn't the best piece of video you've seen in a while.... wow. Love the cinematography and the calm vibes of your vids guys. Awesome work.
Idk how youtube doesn't recommend videos like these, should have 1M views
When you released this video in Feb, I'd spent the better part of a year trying to convince my partner we should do the Simpson as part of a trip we were doing around the Red Centre. We'd done tough trips before, but he was still apprehensive, and maybe slightly unconvinced that the Simpson was something we were capable of. A lot of videos of the Simpson portray it as the adventure it is, but in doing so inadvertently make it seem daunting. Your videos always strike the right balance between adventure and a sense of pervasive calm.
We did the Simpson in June 2021. It was scheduled into our itinerary within about 20 minutes of watching this video. The moment we left the desert we started talking about tackling the Madigan.
I just wanted to let you know that your work can, and does, create real change in the lives of other people. Thank you for creating and sharing this.
That time-lapse of the stars was amazing! Keep them coming. You two are the best. Production is by far my favourite.
Thank you! So glad you enjoy the time lapses shots, one of our favourite things to capture :)
You captured the spirit of the Simpson beautifully, Congratulations on a fantastic episode. Take care and stay safe, Cheers.

@@WeWillRoam Yes. I would like to enjoy my cuppa and finish it before your vid ends lol. We love going to places with less people, this is the time to travel oz because of covid, less people. We cannot wait to travel n reach every corner possible. More vid pleaseeeeee ❤
Absolutely fantastic episode, the best video I've seen on the Simpson , that star time-lapse 👌👌👌. thanks so much for the effort you guys put in to filming and editing these 👍.

The milky way at night must be lushious highlight. I would personally like to travel with another vehicle it's so remote I'd freakout if broke down even with a satphone
That was epic. I've watched a lot of Simpson Desert content over the last few weeks, and this has inspired me more than ever to go and cross it (further inspired to get a troopy as well...)! Epic film, I can only hope that it looks as good in real life as in your film. Will definitely have to watch more of your content...
What a legends you are! 🤙
You are both very talented. Very therapeutic videos
Thank you so much :)
You two have a talent that is a true gift. Wonderful cinematography. Cherish what you have and never take it for granted.
Thank you Jeffrey :)
@@WeWillRoam Keep up the great work
Such a beautiful vid. It's those type of trips that you really and truely discover who you are. Just watching this video gave me piece and acceptance. Great couple beautiful video, such a beautiful country, thanks for sharing..
I’m just throwing this on the table...maybe it’s already on the table? You 100% need to start filming for a true documentary (ie NetFlix). This may require some camera upgrades but the quality of show you are putting out is better than most you see on Hulu, Netflix or Amazon Prime. This is far better than you think it is. Congrats.
Thank you James, that is incredibly kind! It would be a dream to create something for Netflix, maybe one day :)
A lot of sensitivity in this video, always next level. The night time lap is sick !
Wow! So stoked i have just stumbled across you guys! Looks like i have a lot of catching up to do. Yes that time lapse of the stars was epic! Fantastic video.
Why am I only allowed to like this once?
By far this is my favourite channel out there. There has not been a second go by on any of your videos that I have not enjoyed. Thank you so much.

Absolutely love the cinematography of this. I’ve spent this last lockdown running through my fathers old photographs and slides from when he was with French Petroleum and did the exploration in 63. He was a prolific photographer and I’m sure he would’ve been impressed.
Amazing night sky view...
Great effort...

Absolutely awesome video guys!
Thank you! 😃
Absolutely my favorite episode so far! Doing the Simpson myself in May and can’t wait.
Ps I’m sure if you sold t shirts with your logo on they would sell like hot cakes 😊
I'd have to agree with the shirts. 👍 The video work is fantastic. The driving is text book without the need to "send it" and a big credit to @We Will Roam.
@Luke can't wait until "The Lads With Lockers" do this trip 👍
Thank you Luke! That's awesome news, you will love it, it's such an incredible place!
We have thought about looking into merchandise such as t-shirts, maybe one day ;)
How was the trip?
Awesome video guys 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Noice. Well done guys, love your music composition!
Cheers Joel! :)
It gave me a good look at the Simpson, thanks.
I’m expecting everyday to visit the endless silence Tasmania island. I miss it so much!
Great to see some one not digging up the tracks well done.
1:50 thanks love
Nicely filmed..especially the night sky
Beautiful
Amazing videos like always, very jealous of the cinematography skills you have and hope to be that talented one day, I'd love to know how you got the time-lapse or if there are any tips and tricks you can suggest as I'm driving out to Uluru in the next month and would love to give it a go :)
Man, I just found you and this was an EPIC vid!! Well done guys.
Nice film, I really liked your music choices, they really reflected the emotion of the Simpson.
The desert looked spectacular and the track appeared to be surprisingly in good condition for a change.
Thank you Jason, glad you enjoyed it. Yes we were lucky that the tracks in the Simpson has hardly been used in the months prior so it was an awesome experience.
Amazing footage of the simpson and the troopy. And that timelapse of the night sky... absolutely stunning. Wow!!!
amazing! well done!
Cheers Liam! 👍
Amazing footage, very impressive! I am looking at doing something like this as a mature solo female, did you actually get stuck at all and have to use any recovery gear on the dunes/salt lake etc.? What is the biggest key to getting through the tougher sand dunes? I too will be decking out a troopy for my overland around the world adventure, just that I'll be on my own and older...lol!
Guys your milky way timelapse are insane. I need to learn that ASAP
Thank you! They are one of our favourite things to shoot, very magical 👌
