That’s a nice looking turntable. A lot of work for a run of the mill 12D, but if you need to replace the tone arm… 🤷♂️
What are those feet? They look like the ones from MNPC, but maybe not.
LOL. Well I can't argue with you on the "a lot of work" comment. It was a MASSIVE PITA drilling through that insanely strong steel base. If I ever had a doubt about how well they built stuff back in the 70's, that put the topic to rest.
In the end, I found it to be a fun project. I mean, it sounds great to me... but I rarely pull it out to spin. I just have too many other TTs that are far nicer.
The feet are from Amazon. Nothing special. But they did help lift the bottom to allow more airflow to that motor vent down there.
Thanks for the comment. Peace
Tiger armyyyyy 🤘 that table looks sweeeeeet! Looks like maybe the same feet I put on the 518.
Thanks, man! I am partial to this one. But drilling out that hole for the PUA-7 tonearm was a MAJOR BEEETCH! The overhang on this cart is right at the limit for this small deck... that is why it has a different cart for the Royal Rumble vid. I didn't want to fuss with Ortofon and re-calibrating all that.
cost of making one of these?
That's a good question. LOL. Assuming you don't just have a partially damaged Pioneer PL-12 laying around like I did, you'd have to get your hands on one. Let's say you find one on eBay as Parts and Repair. Maybe cost $50-$100. The super difficult part is hunting down the PUA-7 tonearm. Most that are available are shipping from Japan. I got mine on eBay for $117. I have seen them selling up to $250. But the HARDEST part of any of this... is drilling out the new hole for this longer tonearm. Pioneer used some insane metal on the sub-base and man, that shit was NOT easy to cut through.
Accomplish all of that and you'll have a nice, unique turntable. Peace.
@@tachikaze7 that's cool man shame u didn't film would of made a great video
@@2pro5you_88 LOL... It certainly would have. There would be lots of "bleeping".
