no explanation of things like whether nut bottom needs to be flat or radiused (and how to establish that radius), height of bottom of string above first fret height, sandpaper grits to use etc. I had to search elsewhere for that

Wish there was more information about how he knows how deep to cut the slots to get the perfect nut depth and if after strings were put on if it needed further tweaking (?). Would love to see more of an in depth video of this since nobody ever really goes into the specifics. I get it because to them it’s just nut 1 out of 2000 past ones they’ve done, but to the ones who don’t have a lot of experience getting a perfect nut seems like more of a mythical thing. Cool video otherwise but would like a lot more in depth 🙏

I'll tell you There's a video on RUclips where a guy takes a carpenter ✏️ pencil and sands it flat then runs it over the radius of the frets and it draws a line for you. Just search making a guitar nut you'll find it.

@@georgekarson6599 since I posted my comment I actually found the perfect solution for me. It’s the music city bridge nut slot height gauge. It allows me to get perfect lowest nut height allowable without any buzzing. I can’t live without it now. Plus it’s only like $18 or something.

The other way is to measure your first fret and then stack feeler gauges matching this height plus .010 up against the nut following the radius of the fretboard and draw a line, you make it .010 higher so that when you cut the slots u get the right depth

Seems like they are more interested in goofing of staff, than they are giving technique and tools used and dimensions of process

Enjoyed the video. Is the nut jig one you made or is it something you can get elsewhere?

It’s a custom made jig but might be an idea to offer them!
